Front Grille Trim Covers (Chrome Delete) on Honda Accord 2018-2019

- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- Quick video for the install of the gloss black front grill trim cover for the Honda Accord 2018. This is a 3-piece style that goes over the stock trim. No removal necessary.
Steps are the same as the other trims:
1. Clean the area with a microfiber towel. A car shampoo or car detailer recommended, in order to avoid any scratches.
2. Remove red strips and heat up the 3M tape.
3. Attach one piece at a time. Do the centerpiece last since it's a larger area.
*Keynote: for the centerpiece, start by the H emblem below area and then work on the top sides.
4. Press on each piece firmly with a microfiber towel to avoid scratches.
5. Recommend not driving right away to ensure the 3M bonds perfectly. Allow at least 2-4 hours, but recommend 8-24 hours.

I ordered the vinyl for my front end 2018 Honda civic
Had my accord for months now and I finally found someone who’s started from day 1 on their journey modding it, absolutely loving the videos brotha this is helping start my first mod after being sort of clueless on it thanks man🙏🏽
Always a pleasure
Nice af
Hey was that easy to install I got it for my 2018 Honda civic ex I just ordered it today off of eBay is that were u got ur looks nice bye the way
Yeah it's easy. They only lasted like 6-8 months I think. They started peeling.
Hey u told me that it all peeled off u can go and get 3m tape at Home Depot and put it back on
I meant the paint
Looks perfect bro. I really like it and looks aggressive asf no joke.
Thanks bro... I love the looks as well. Going to do the rear side. Working with some eBay sellers to break a deal on the diffuser and side wings kit. That way it matches the front lip look. Let's see how it goes.
BoostedWhipz i have same exact car trim and I finally found the mods I’ve been looking for thanks!
@@williamramirez80 awesome bro... Reach out to this seller for special discounts... Just mention my eBay ID fnun4676
Just copped for my 2020 Accord 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 appreciate the code hookup !
Wow it doesn't look bad! I recently got in a little incident on the freeway & my grill is a bit crooked & a deep cut in the middle. This is a good cheap alternative to cover the flaws instead of going OEM 👍. Thank you appreciate it.
Indeed! Hope it all works out.
Yes yes yes this was the only thing keeping me from buying this car I don't like that big chrome nose great video.
Agreed!
LethalPhatGuy I got one and added a bottom lip spoiler and it look great
Somewhere else to grab these? Looks like they're no longer available.
Check eBay or Amazon.
Thx bro gonna do this to my black 18’ exl looks super clean asf!
Awesome!!! Check out all the other mods on my channel.
BoostedWhipz most def!
@@nickle1371 Did you do this? How does it look? I also have a black exl and am tempted to do this to it!
Will the 18 to 21 accord will fit no problem
No. 2021-2022 are larger
how are they holding up after 2+ years
Started peeling
I wonder if a wrap would work better. Also easier when you want to remove.
I've seen ppl plastidip the grill as well
I always thought that huge piece of chrome looked horrible of the Accord. Looks way better black
does this work for a 2021 Touring boss?
It should...
Damn bro, that looks way better and aggressive. I might do that to my wife's 2016 Accord Sport as well haha.
Wait till you see the lip JDM lip spoiler 😎😍
I got the same one so much better then the black chrome doesn’t get as water stained
Definitely! I got the lip spoiler installed as well. Video will be loaded later in the week.
I gotta get the lip spoiler i just ordered the roof spoiler and a big brake light to go under the lip spoiler to look like the Audi RS7
@@POReyes niiiice
Looks good. But I wouldn't spend more as the car already has a good appearance even though I kept my 2016 touring instead and switched wheels to 2018 sport.
I like modding cars. I agree the stock appearance is already good, but I always liked personalizing my cars to my style lol. Plus it's a hobby.
I would have put 17 sport wheels on.
It looks very nice 👍
Do you recommend using a heat gun or any extra 3M or gorilla glue double sided tape?
Also the ebay link is expired, can you post a new link?
Bolts and locking nuts. This is a long time ago. No new link
Nice looks much better
Thanks 👊🏼
I also have new royal blue emblems looks bad ass

Waiting for the front lip spoiler install.
@@mj23bama it's done... Wrapping up the editing and hope to have it loaded in the next couple days... Looks AMAZING!
I already ordered the smoked out tail lights tint. I’m waiting to see how the front looks completed before I order all 3 parts
Is it transparent at all?
What do you mean?
@@BoostedWhipz are you able to see through it? I have one on mine and it looks a little transparent almost like a dark tint
@@whodatkatt4805 This is for the grille... it's fully black. What area are you referring to?
Looks great. How’s the fitment?
Pretty good... Less than 1mm off on the center piece, but not noticeable at all.
@@BoostedWhipz it goes over the black chrome?
Thanks. It looks like a perfect fit from the video. I it looks so much better being that it does with the other black parts
@@carlosmartinezz3022 no over the chrome unibrow only. Is that what you are referring to?
@@BoostedWhipz yes thanks. I thought you had to remove that first.
You had the smoked sports grille right? I knew it wasnt really black
Looked chrome to me lol
Just got my accord and looking to do a few mods myself. Do you think this is better than doing vinyl wrap on the grill?
Both have pros and cons... You can't go wrong with either imo.
@@BoostedWhipz What would you say the pros are to this vs. vinyl wrap? Installation definitely looks easier I'm mostly curious did this add extra thickness to the front grill? Also appreciate all the quick responses and help!
Pros are almost the same... So I'll focus on the cons. Vinyl wrap is more expensive, time consuming, and can tear over time (provides less protection). Covers can warp over time and adds a bit of bulkiness, but nothing too crazy.
@@BoostedWhipz Have you seen any warping at this point? I was thinking of doing the vinyl wrap myself so that would potentially be cheaper than the cover. Was mostly concerned with the bulk of the cover but they look really thin.
@@dhofknecht8354 they are thin. No warping on mine but heard others yes. Attempt vinyl wrap and see how it comes out.
what is the name of the 3m tape used? Just want to make sure I buy the right one for the job. The chrome delete is a must!
I used automotive 3M.
I will also be doing this and changing my emblem. Should I change my emblem before or after the black grill cover ?
After
@@BoostedWhipz thanks bro. Lastly, does the new emblem go over the current stock one, or do I need to remove the stock one?
I removed the OEM ones. I have a video of it as well.
@@BoostedWhipz thanks a lot brother!
It’s been two years how has the tape held and how has it all held up over time . Does plastic still hold on the shine ?
These lasted under a year on color. They faded.
Looks so much more aggressive. Great trims dude. How you think it'll hold up in N.Y. weather thou?
Not sure brother... I guess as long as it bonds to the trim completely, it should be fine. However, I think your best bet would be vinyl wrap.
Much appreciated bro. Keep up the good mod work!!
@@milovega5840will do my friend... Stay tuned for the next mods 🤗
The link expired for the Ebay product page. Which kit did you use and would you still recommend it?
Most links expired but there are many on eBay. Either one works.
The link does not work anymore? Would you happen to know who sells this exact same one?
I do not but I do have a discount for precut vinyl overlays if interested.
Where at? I’m interested on the discount. Does it go over the current chrome like this one as well?
Yes... But it's made out of vinyl instead.
Does it matter if you do this or the actual grill, can you tell a difference, plus this procedure is prolly cheaper
Just appearance wise. Some hate the chrome.
Question. Did you have to remove the original grille?
No... Directly placed the covers.
Hey Man - how has this held up over time? I want to do this myself, but debating on the ovelays versus the full replacement pieces.
I recommend doing the OEM sport grille swap. I used these covers but faded away in 8-9 months. Another great alternative is vinyl, but it's a pain to do.
@@BoostedWhipz can you post a link to either how to do this or where to get?
I'll just leave the chrome until its scratched to all hell and pitted then do this
Did you have a hard removing this?? I wanted to know how you remove it because sometimes that 3m gets stuck especially if you had there for a long time and 3MM gets baked by the sun underneath. I plan to remove mine but i didnt want to damage the smoke chrome underneath once i pull it.
Heat it up... Yes pain in the rear, but it will come off with heat. They any residue must use plastic blade and adhesive remover like googone
Is this suitable for new honda amaze
Not sure what car that is
How have these trims handled washes/weather? I live in Arizona; major dry heat during the summer, my concern is the glue deteriorating after a while. Over all it looks great, definitely makes the car stand out more.
Since I had it no issues... Florida weather is mostly in the 90s °F year round. Winter lowest is max 40s°F, but on average 60-70s °F. I have pressure washed my vehicle over 5 times now since the install. For me, everything is good and no issues. I think for installation you might need to wait for a good weather, say around mid 70-80°F. This is to allow good bonding. Once bonded you should be fine.
BoostedWhipz I appreciate your response. I’ll have to do it before summer starts then. Our summer highs are 120 degrees F, 0% humidity. Have you seen or considered getting black gloss trim for the pieces around the door windows?
@@moisespimentel9513 yes... That's on the list to do. Going with vinyl gloss black. That one I am going to do at a shop though. Bought the pre-cut ones from eBay the other day and they sucked for me. Got a refund for them.
Hey you already seeing scratches in the car. I noticed after i cleaned mine i can already find some
Yeah a few... Hard to tell on the blue though.
@@BoostedWhipz Honda has such soft paint
@@svthuber758 agreed!
How’s it been holding up? Safe at car washes?
I do hand washes. Never do machine.
How much does it portrude? Like obviously its not flush with the hood , how thick are the pieces?
The pieces are very thin, no more than 1-2mm thick. Therefore it blends in with the hood. You can't notice at all that it is an overlay over the stock one. You have to get really close up and personal to even notice anything. Anyone that has seen the car and have no idea I did anything believe is stock from factory as such.
Dang. Looks good. How’s the fitment? I would’ve got the same piece but I’m cheap so I just bought some Avery gloss black wrap and wrapped it instead. Only 20$. And that piece is only held on with clips so it’s real easy to take off! I definitely hate the chrome. My Touring has shiny chrome for that piece. Looks so much better wrapped.
It's pretty good... Less than 1mm offset on top, but very unnoticeable... Thanks for the feedback.
MrHawaiibound how do you take off the chrome trim? Any tips on wrapping it? Thanks
Honda Jon It’s just six push clips under the hood. On the outside. Then you just pull the front chrome piece out. It’s only held on by clips. You kinda have to use force. Just don’t be scared of it. I thought I was gonna break something but I didn’t. And wrapping is easy because the grille comes apart. Just use heat. It’s easy otherwise.
MrHawaiibound thanks. Do all the pieces come off? Is it three separate pieces? It’s hard to tell. Thanks
@@MrHawaiibound do you have to pop off the trim panels under the hood or anything? I wanna wrap mine too but i aint tryna break shit lol
It looks like it adds “bulky-ness”, you should wrap it instead!
Not bulky at all, trust me.
@@BoostedWhipz Was there a raised edge around the front emblem or was it flush?
@@JoshSmith-hs3sd flush.
Grabbed a 2020 black sport 2.0 and wanted to know yalls feelings /pros and cons of these stick on covers vs vinyl? Does anyone have any experience with both that could kick a lil knowledge thissa way?
Yes me... Covers tend to fade over time. I had mine last 8-9 months. Makes the front look slightly bulky. Vinyl looks way better but can get easily damaged with road debris over time. Covers are easy to install. Vinyl is expensive if done at a shop and time consuming to do on your own if inexperienced.
@@BoostedWhipzhave u tried any of tje pre cut kits that are like 40 buks? Is this the ABS glossy finish? Any reason you went with this rather than a wrap? I think they also sell those on eBay. Debating between this and wrap.
Yes this is the gloss black ABS. TBH you can't go wrong with either one. There is pros and cons to each. Usually the wrap film is not as glossy so reason I went with the ABS is to have a full matching gloss black front grille and trim. Other than that either one is good.
