The evolution of the piano as we know it started in 1709 (Cristofori, with back check and escapement) and ended in 1911 (Alfred Dolge ,felt hammer design that is still used today). The proto-piano began its life at about 700 years ago with the clavisimbalum. This instrument had hammers but no back check or escapement.
Wow what an amazing sound, it reminds me of August Förster that also came from the same area of Saxony in Löbau!!! It makes me want to prick ny ears up and listen to all these amazing sonorities throughout the range.
Exquisite playing on a truly beautiful instrument. Congratulations, Carol!
Her voice is so calming and musical. Great instrument as well!
What a treat - thank you!
Thank you, this is spectacular! So great to finally hear a good Silbermann replica, and to learn so much about it. Thank you Kerstin and Carol lei!
The Scarlatti was exquisite.
