Old but gold - thanks Nick. Some key information to get my S&T swing back on track.
Thanks William
Lead knee tracks OVER the lead foot during backswing!
Excellent stuff, Nick.
Thanks Ryan
The tip to get the knee flexing over my left foot has literally changed my life! It's got my hips turning properly, which for years I was never able to do. One question: how to you keep your head from dipping down when you bend the right knee like that? What should I feel to keep my head level with the ground? Thank you very much.
Thanks Dave Stack & Tilt has literally changed my life too. Do you mean when you bend the left knee like that?
This is fantastic
Thanks
Hi Nick, Great channel about s&t! Whats the difference of a s&t backswing and a one piece takeway?
Do you lock the right leg or still have some knee flex on your right leg?
Great explanation!
Thanks Michael this was an old video
brilliant,Thanks.
Hi Nick, i am trying the following: unchanged distance b/w elbows, unchanged sided angle b/w right wrist with the shaft during backswing with hinging wrists only, feeling in early stage of backswing as if right wrist in horizontally, the left wrist vertically slowly hinged. All those pieces are correct? almost one piece takeaway except the right upper arm stays connected or almost connected?
Sounds good but wouldn't describe as one piece, lots of moves are happening early in the backswing. Left shoulder moving down, knee flex starting to change etc
Should we have the 90° angle between shaft and left arm on p3 or p4?
P4
on practice ground today trial and error working on keeping arms straight found it was best to turn body inside without moving the arms just keeping elbows together this seemed to bring shoulders down and lead knee towards foot no need to purposefully make this happen. . At position 2 cock slowly as move to top keeping right arm as wide as possible rear leg straightening in the process. Was v happy with the results.
Good stuff Ian, keep it up.
Hi Ian, why do you think Nick move his right arm from his torso during the backswing? Mike does not do that.
Hi Nick, please explain what does " keeping the right elbow from the chest/torso give? Shall I have a right chicken wing at the top for power? I.e the right arm cocked at the same angle to the ground as the torso does, about 40_45 degrees. Will be more than happy if you have a vid on the matter soonest.
Am 68 lack flexibility prefer to use body to turn shoulders try to stay as wide as possible keep left arm straight. I turn my back to the target by turning whole of lower body rather than a narrower turn using torso.
Hi Nick, hoping you could help me out with a question I have with the takeaway. I understand that the left arm does not move above the shoulder line, but do you have a feeling of stretching your left hand/arm upwardly or away from the ball in the takeaway? Thanks in advance.
I think its hard to explain with feeling sometimes as everyone is different. My hands move inwards and upwards in the takeaway, I get players to practice with tees under their arms if the left arm position is above the shoulders.
Ok. How about that "Chop the wood" to bring the club down video you promised?
Have worked on straight arms keeping elbows together - imagine that grip should not be too tight. understand that weight is more on lead side increases as backswing progresses. The lead knee moves over lead foot. At position 2 am wondering if you side bend a little to bring the lead shoulder down - am doing this as find it prevents me turning the shoulder down too much? Which was doing when played on course .
What do you charge for giving swing analysis if I paste a you tube video on here for comment.
Hi Ian, the weight stays the same 60/40 favouring the left throughout the backswing. The left shoulder should move down and to the right the same amount in the backswing. I do offer online swing analysis via my website, www.nicktaylorpga.com
your website will not open. Please check!
Thanks for letting me know Tokin, I can open it on my mac and iPad so not sure why it isn't working for you.
Paul Walmart. good question is that.looking forward to reply.
His surname is Walmsley, and already answered this question. The longer the club the more degree the trail leg will straighten. Check out the golf swing of the winner on the European Tour today
On the back-swing, the left knee bends toward the ball and it looks like the right leg and knee straighten somewhat. Is this correct?
Yes that is correct the knee flex is constantly changing throughout the swing
Does the club head go straight back in takeaway to get the in to out
The club goes inside along with the hands, check out one of my videos on the grid. It explains the club and hand path in more detail.
Thanks Nick was really struggling with getting a in to out swing but think this has helped clear it up
Nick, what do the arms do on the way down? Pull down, swing to right field or just go along for the ride? It seems no SnT instructor ever talks about it.
Hi Bob, the hands are continuously tracing an arc around the body throughout the course of the swing. Maybe check out one of my recent videos Swing in a circle: ua-cam.com/video/s1brw3x8r7Q/v-deo.html
You had Head tilt and a bit of reverse pivot on your drill
Hi Neil, what is your definition of a reverse pivot?
foot pressure on the backswing. obviously on the front foot, but where? ball of foot, heel, instep?
I would say ball of foot Ben
