They're fine dancers as well, Simon. It's great to see children dancing the maypole to more traditional music: a trend down here in Kent at the moment seems to favour doing the same dances but to modern pop!

Did you grow up in a city? I grew up in the countryside and it was a very common sight for me to see this each May...
I am from a small country village and we used to have may poles, the may gala and the may queen.
The children dancing singing the oarents clapung as we go round and round plating our maypole DANCING oh the Joy
Remember doing this in primary school around 2009, such an epic throwback
I remember doing this back in the late 1950's!
So much fun! Such fond memories of the maypole, and having the may king and queen

It was the tradition and spread throughout the Commonwealth where sone schools n STILL dance the Old maypole

Does anyone know what the music is? I'm sure I danced maypole to this same music as a young child, and I haven't heard it for over 20 years!
Hi George. They dance in and out to "Roast Beef of Old England", and the dance itself is to "The Hundred Pipers"
