Man.... The kind of sermon that if I weren't already Christian, I'd have fallen on my knees and accepted Christ right there. As it is, I'm just filled with tears of joy. I love sermons that reinforce the validity of Jesus and the Bible. And you delivered it with a passion that is inspired by God.
The research, knowledge, and thought Pastor Ben puts into his sermons is so fantastic. The history is astonishing and I hope more people have the chance to hear this message.
So good! I love the scholarly themes of these messages! One thing that I would love to see is a list of sources where Ben gets his information from, such as the names of books and their authors, in the bio section. As a student, I find that super helpful so I can continue my own studies as well. Love the work you guys are doing, it truly ministers to my life! Be blessed 💛
Thank you for this message. Just yesterday I was having this conversation with my girlfriend. I struggle with this topic for my entire Christian journey. Looks like it’s time for a bath!
But how do we know the authors of the Bible heard from God/Holy Spirit correctly? How do we know they didn't interpret what the Holy Spirit was telling them through their own filters, biases, lived experiences, etc? We tend to think that the authors of the Bible were magical people. But just like people can misinterpret what the Holy Spirit is telling them today, the same could've been true back then. So while there may not be issues with translations, there could be issues with the actual original texts. I don't know why the Holy Spirit/God didn't just instantly manifest a complete and written Bible. Working through mankind has always led to issues. Just look at Adam and Eve. Even Job didn't have a correct understanding of God. He attributed evil to God because he didn't know who Satan was. Yet the Book of Job is in the Bible and people today really think that God gives and takes away, for example.
Good question. Hopefully I can help a little, with what limited knowledge I have. I would say that God actively involves men in His work because He wants to. The Bible and the gospel especially illustrates that God is an intimate God that wants us to work alongside Himself. He wants that personal relationship, and it's a wonderful thing that He gives us the privilege of working with Him. It was to this end that Adam and Eve were first made, to labor with God in ruling and keeping the Garden of Eden. And there is a certain amount of personal filter present in the Bible, but in a way that helps illustrate the humanity of the authors rather than corrupting the meanings. This is reflected in the different writing styles and interests of the authors. For example Matthew, a tax collector, took a keen interest in organizing his gospel neatly and also had an eye for money that the other gospels don't have, including a few money-related details and parables during Jesus's ministry. Additionally, if the different authors of the Bible interpreted the Holy Spirit's message through their own lenses in a way that would impact the validity of the Bible, then there would surely be huge internal inconsistencies and contradictions. Yet what inconsistencies and contradictions we do see have zero impact on the meaning - stuff like different numbers of soldiers present in a battle or the localization of a prophet's name. (And regarding the book of Job - Satan was still under the authority of God. He had to ask God for permission to afflict Job. Therefore, it was ultimately still God who was giving and taking away). I hope that this helps. Doubt can be a good thing to have if it inclines you to learn and understand better, so I urge you to keep on investigating this matter for yourself. May it bring you ever closer to God!
@@spaceresident331 Thank you so much for your well-thought-out response! Great points. I will say, though, that Satan was not and is not under God's authority in the sense that Satan has to ask God's permission to afflict someone. Unfortunately, that's how church and religion have commonly taught it. And it gives people a really sour view of God. Job was not in covenant with God. So Job really had no legal right to be blessed the way he was. Satan had dominion over the earth at that time, so Satan had the legal authority to afflict Job. But God set up boundaries, such as Satan not being able to kill Job. God is only good. He does not use or allow disease, loss or tragic events to teach us, punish us, chastise us, improve us, etc. Only good gifts and only perfect gifts come from our Father. But it's Satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus is and was a direct representation of the Father. And Jesus said He came to give us life and life more abundantly. Blessings to you!
@@WheelEstate Without man's hand, and his story writing, and ability to communicate (which only became widely possible globally in the past 2000 or so years) man made up his own idea about everything around him - the water, the creatures, the sky, fire, etc. We see this in civilizations that predate Christianity where all sorts of rules and laws were made up by man. For example, paleolithic humans, native indians, etc. God, therefore, placed a messenger, and asked humans of that time to develop faith and to believe and trust. If the bible, was simply dropped down in pure form, humans of the time might have burned it, destroyed it, or thought it was alien and hidden it from sight.
Now tell them about aionios and olam. About Gehenna and the valley of Ben Hinnom. Maybe the majority of the English translation does a decent job, but there are some rather important parts that have been very much mistreated.
Talking about the number 666 and 616, there was this study in what it means. It was in the Nat Geo channel presented by Morgan Freeman titled "Mark of the Beast". With the help of some researchers they realised that if you calculate the different alphabets of different languages namely Greek and Latin, you will realise that it spells into one word in those different languages which is 'Nero'.
Yahshua himself WARNED of the SCRIBES and said they HID the TRUTH: The kingdom of Heaven HELLO Mat 23:23 Gospel of Thomas Saying 39 SO for you to DENY the FACT it has been HIDDEN, is to DENY The Word of YHVH, through His Son Yahshua
Sometimes the simplest explanation is True. The Hebrews wrote in Hebrew, the romans wrote in greek. The so called modern scholars, like to say Mark was written first. Because it is the least flattering. Under this assumption any degraded document would be called first/original. What they don't say is why don't mark mention a resurrection? He didn't believe it? or he didn't think it was important? or was it that it was written by a roman stooge to destroy the message of The Messiah? In Matthew and Luke the genealogies are a contradiction. Matthew said the woman held Him by the feet and worshipped Him. Luke says that Jesus said, don't touch me for I have not ascended to My Father. Spaul contradicts all the other 40 Inspired Books including Matthew. Old Testament so called "contradictions" are few and can be easily explained with proper translation. In the "New Testament", there are many irreconcilable differences. Because only Matthew was originally written in Hebrew. "Matthew" was written anomalously/untitled. It is The Testament of Messiah the last Inspired book. The roman/greek books that fallow are roman lies, propaganda and contradictions. Wake up brothers and sisters, God didn't start speaking greek after they killed His Son. Rome is the beast of Daniel 7 that was given power over the saints for a season. Wake up the Brothers and Sister, He is coming soon.
Critically examine the NT compared to the Hebrew text of the “OT” and you’ll see an astounding mistranslation of the Tenakh even by the authors of NT. The Greek horribly mistranslates the Hebrew.this is not to say the 72 Jewish scribes did that, no, Christians tampered with the tenakh as well as their own NT copies adding and taking away from the Words of God
Maybe. As a new believer and being saved 3 yrs this month. I didnt seek God intentionally . I sought my purpose , why I was here , what my purpose was , why was I so unloveable. God saved . I started reading the christian bible ; first just the new testament . I wanted everything to be true . For Gods love for me to be truth. I went from disbelief to having faith. I have quit drinking, tomorrow will be 8 months no smoking , was full of moral filth and worst sailor for mouth. I am far from perfect. Sometimes we analyze things so much. If you already have doubts and no solid foundation , you let the enemy in and he plants lies and lies. I know the bible is truth. Bc I genuinely sought it. I hope you can enjoy Gods word. If we are being honest and seeking the truth God will lead us to the Bible that is His ! Where it comes to life to millions who are searching just like I was. May you be blessed sister 🙏

Why are you quoting Thomas? It's a gnostic forgery that was never part of the Bible.
Yes it has, god's words is important, entirety, you cannot claim it's god's words when you change the sentence, even only single word or number.
