boy oh boy! Amanda you brought me so many memories! When I was listening to her I looking at the pictures of the destruction, I couldn't hold back my years! I went through the same thing with hurricane Katrina. My neighbourhood looked the same. I wish I was closer to come and help. People need more moral support than anything else right now. Amanda is intelligent, definitely has a working plan to get things back in order and her concern for her citizens genuine. She's a keeper. She's not mayor of "Cape Breton". She's mayor of the "Cape Breton Regional Municipality" which is one region that is about one quarter of the area of the island of Cape Breton.

One of 4 counties on the Island, but with 3x the total population of the other 3 combined. So no, she doesn't speak for the whole Island, just the majority of it's residents.

In the US they use special attachments to keep the roof on during a hurricane. Maybe that house with the missing roof should look into that when the repairs are done.
hurricane strapping , a strip of metal that goes from the trusses to the walls. in Canada it is only applied to trailer homes because of tornado...

Heartbreaking indeed! Wishing them all the best and a quick recovery! Very stressful! Have lived through other hurricanes in the past on the east coast of New England, the last big one, Hurricane Bob in 1991 when we were without power for five days and without water and then the "Perfect Storm" at the end of October 1991 which inspired the big blockbuster film directed by Stephen Spielberg, "The Perfect Storm", three storm systems in one! Sending healing prayers and thoughts~
8 days without power, some are still without power here unfortunately nearly a month later.
Very sad.

People were out looking for gas and groceries
There more local people cutting trees down for there community. Dont even see cbrm doing anything. Neighbors and family members are doing more tree clearing then cbrm can ever do.

Where's that support for the homeless any other day? While they are being evicted from their homes due to the inflation, other disasters like fires, and such. When people put up shelters, they took chainsaws just because, they didn't want to look at the devastation society created in these people. Yet, a hurricane blows through and now, they have empathy. It's "top priority" to shelter these people. I can only imagine what this really means for society and the economy. Especially, in the midst of a inflation and housing crisis. While, food banks can barely keep up and don't have enough food to give to people already. The Maritime's are looking at a sad future for the next little bit.
