  • This video follows my painting and detailing of the Cyclops busts from Blackheart models. This particular bust is of a creature from the movie called 7th Voyage of Sinbad. I discuss painting and shading techniques that I used to detail this figure model.
    These affordable miniature busts are a great way of getting into painting creatures and busts. The viewer is also given a little background about Blackheart models and you can learn more about the founder at this link. He has a very interesting story that I think you'd enjoy watching. • Black Heart Halloween ...

    Your work is absolutely exceptional. That difficult subject matter coupled with the fact that you can paint on film makes the work especially remarkable. Great presentation style as usual, and again, nice work!

    I sculpted and painted my own Cyclops head sometime ago. I used plain white Sculpey polymer clay. I just made his head and mounted it like a hunting trophy head on a little board. It a little bigger than a softball.

      @@InterstellarModeler your paint jobs are good. I don't keep track of the colors I use,I should. I kinda just grab and go. I use the cheap acrylic paints from Walmart.

      @@matturban9103 Thanks Matt, absolutely nothing wrong with craft paints. They work quite well especially when painting figures. The trouble I have with them is when trying thin them for airbrushing. Sometimes the consistency of the spray is not as good as others but again, they're great for hand brushing which is what I do a lot of with figures. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    That's a really greats sculpt on that cyclops bust, and you finished it amazingly well. Superb work there (as usual!) as it can't be easy painting a model on camera. Thanks for sharing, great vid.

    Nice work from Blackheart,but I'm pretty sure that Harryhausens Cyclops only had the one horn on his head. (edit) Just had a look and in some scenes it has the secondary horn and in others just the one...strange. (edit)

      Yes I was a little confused about that as well but after watching the movie again, there were to be 2 creatures one with a single horn which the characters blinded, the other with two horns which fought the dragon at the end.

    Geometric produced some top shelf vinyl and resin kits. Amazing detail for the time, from my understanding "copy cat" kits were produced in Asia and copy right holders felt it was not worth the trouble to stop these pirates. Geometric folds and America loses again.

    beautiful paint job sir but you put the horns on backwards . check out the final battle seen at the end of the movie with the cyclops vs the dragon and you will see the horns point forward . im shocked no one saw that but then im 60 yrs old and this is my favorite movie of all time

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  5 років тому

      Greg Mounts Well it turns out that there were 2 creatures in the movie, which I knew, but didn't realize that one had a single horn while the other at the end of the film had two. The one with a single horn has it positioned as I do but the one with two is just as you said, the opposite way. Thanks for pointing this out. Luckily it didn't take much force to detach the horns, turn them around and touch up the paint. Thanks for your comment.
