Phil Foden had a goal disallowed early in the second half when Anthony Taylor penalised Erling Haaland for a foul on Fabinho after consulting the pitchside monitor.
Guardiola accused the referee of inconsistency after the game. 'It was play on, play on, play on - after we score, it is not play on,' the Manchester City manager said. Klopp received a red card late on for protesting after Mohamed Salah was not awarded a foul.
'Red card - my fault. I went over the top in that moment,' said the Liverpool manager, who added: 'how on earth is it possible not to give that foul?'

I do remember last year at Ainfield Milner didnt get a second yellow against City when he clearly fouled. Even as Liverpool fan I was happy but confused. This time it was against Salah and again confused. I never seen him this angry and Salah rarely gets angry. Probably it reminded himof the Ramos tackle.
I appreciate the objectivity of this comment, pretty spot on
Yea I'm pretty sure Mo got flashbacks of the Ramos tackle too. Was quite similar.
Mo was angry because that was the "straw that broke the camels back"
He was fouled many times and got no calls. The last one he knew was a result of City knowing they will get away with it. That is why he was rightfully angry.
That is the first time i seen Salah get angry for the past 5 years lol.
I remember Mili getting two yellows off his former PE teacher, Jon whatisname who recently retired. (The one with the record shop). But I think that was at the Etihad. We need to import refs from overseas. They’re not up to it, our lot. And especially how we misuse VAR. The ref saw the foul on Fab and deemed it innocuous to let it pass. Goal> VAR > now it’s not okay. Eh? Only thing that makes it just is that it should have been a Liverpool corner a minute earlier when Ederson pulled off a miracle save from Mo. Rubbish refereeing though. Hate to agree with Pep but I do. Jürgen too. YNWA
I hope Anthony Taylor never get these big games again, he was shocking.
he is always picked to referee this game because hes from the city of manchester
You're joking right? He's been doing this for years without consequences
PL need new referees who doesn’t lick Manchester clubs
Well played by Anthony Joshua. Hope he continue the referees game future in.
I don't think he was that bad, there were some fouls but there men and there were no red cards. On the big decision, the disallowed goal, foul in the build up and foul on the keeper, Taylor was referred to VAR and made the right call.
1. Should've been a corner at the other end after Ederson saved Salah's shot..
2. Foul on Fabinho.
3. Foul on Ali.
Three blatant reasons that "goal" couldn't justifiably stand.
In the Barca RM game an exact same scenario happened where Vini kicked the keepers hand and the ball popped out. That was given a foul. The refs in the PL are just nuts
Foul on Salah 2 times
Finally someone making sense
Pep didn't complain last season. Rodri handball not given penalty. Moutinho decision given penalty.
And yous didn't complain when Milner almost broke Bernado's neck shut your mouths
Yes that's true
@@fifty-five6929 he deserved it.
@ fifty five ...n what part of Manchester are you from?...you another City glory boy who would need a sat nav to locate Eastlands
That was down to kavannah n Tierny...a ref n a VAR both from Manchester..
"play on play on play on"... except when there is a goal, and a foul.. VAR is checked. Not sure what Pep is complaining about here lol. The most clear fouls were on Fabinho and Salah
Exactly he's just salty
he was complaining about the quality on pitch referee.
sure the foul is obvious there, haaland pull fab shirt but the play shouldve stop right there not corrected by var.
also that silva shirt pull, its obvious foul but ref didnt call it.
quality of ref is so bad.
@@schneeraizor7020 i agree with you, both manager complaining about the poor job done by the referee
@@schneeraizor7020 Yes, but when there is a goal the ref is allowed to check VAR. Pep is complaining about the disallowed goal.
@@schneeraizor7020 pep was complaining about the disallowed goal... it was clear foul... he should accept defeats.. that's tactical masterclass from klopp
Peps excuse is 'we got away with other fouls,' why did you not allow us to get away with a goal that came from another foul.
They shouldn’t have even had the goal kick, it was a corner
*two fauls during that "goal"
I don't think that's what he's saying. He's saying that the referee let a lot go that normally wouldn't be (and for both teams if you watched the match) and only when they scored he changed his leniency. That's what he's saying.
@@chwestfield Both managers said (afterwards) they wanted tighter refereeing. But whingeing about a properly disallowed goal is not logical. (Compare no ball checks in cricket)
Which is fair cos it's highlighting a lack of consistency. Why does it have to come down to a VAR moment for the rules to actually be enforced?
At least the referrees are consistently inconsistent.
Because they are humans
@@osinachi6887 ok

Pep and Klopp not happy with Anthony Taylor
Chelsea: 1st time?
Got to be the weakest argument I’ve ever heard
‘It’s a foul but he played on so var shouldn’t get involved’ what
He said it was a clear foul and the ref should give a free kick right away so the VAR discussion would be pointless. Its football, not wrestling
@@easygo4568
Right
So he agrees it’s a foul but because the ref doesnt give it he thinks it should be fine
Plus var has now since said it would’ve cancelled it for the foul on Allison aswell
Regardless we can agree referee performance in this particular match was just bad
@@TheManorBeast He's annoyed at the inconsistency, that it's only a foul if it results in a goal.
@@easygo4568 pointless argument
Funny how pep says “play on play on play on” when the goal disallowed for man city shouldn’t even have happened. Play before. Commentator on ederson “great save” where he was down injured, and city got a goal kick.
Funny how Klopp and you don't complain when Milner almost breaks Bernado's neck or when Thagio is one a yellow makes another yellow card tackle and doesn't get sent off or when his teams constantly fouls yet no free kicks are given. So shut your mouth
Anthony Taylor never fails to disappoint us. He did the wrong calls against Chelsea vs Tottenham as well.
nothing wrong with anthony taylor. quit your whining
The level of refereeing in the PL is getting worse by the weeks.
Ref was shocking today to be frank.
Apart from the fact that the city goal came from a goal kick that was meant to be a corner because Ederson saved Salahs shot.
Gomez take the ball after this moment🤦🏼♂️
I always wonder why the pep fanboys think he is better than klopp he has been losing his head to head matchup with him for years now.
And klopp had dortmund against bayern and now lfc against city, and still is better h2h with really less buget clubs and weaker team.. pep is genius but klopp is something else
As Liverpool fan, Pep better in term of CONSISTENCY, Statistic speak itself... even ain't worth of debate
Sorry but Pep is better. He won 4 out of 5 league titles. And dont give me that BS about money. I am liverpool fan and we spent less than Arsenal who till this season werent even getting top4 money. Thats not Citys fault thats FSG fault.
Because of what he's done in the past and is doing now ..... I know klopp winning Bundesliga and shattering Bayern is an achievement..... But come on Sextuple with Barcelona is insane ..... Even the best Liverpool side couldn't do quadruple... Not even the best real Madrid side could do such thing.... 100 points with Barca and 100 points with city ... Isn't that just insane.... Even if pep decides not to coach he's left with insane legacy and there is no doubting it ..... Klopp just has a better record against city maybe because he knows how to stop city.... But doesn't mean klopp is better than Pep😑
@@bigdawg3836 Bcos he always chooses the most resourceful team honey. He only won CL with Messi. Take that for a data
Great to see genuine passion , humility and reverence from both clubs managers
1) Haaland definitely fouled Fabinho
2) no one is talking about the fact that the attack came directly from a goal kick that should have been a corner.
In the EPL the football is getting better and the refereeing is getting worse!
Lol really? Premier league is getting better? How, when football is all getting shattered.
Anthony Taylor mugs a living as a ref. Remember England’s golden boy two-footed studs up that was ignored? No accountability and no repercussions ensures Premiere League officiating is a laughing stock.
Why Pep is complaining like that. That was a clear foul on Fabinho on top of that before that moment the ref should've given a corner kick
@@free7816 no? the VAR screen was on haaland-fabinho, not a milner foul. There also would’ve been another check to see if haaland had kicked the ball out of allison’s hands. AND it shouldn’t have been a goal kick for city.
not only taylor, lots of refs in EPL have low standard.
the refs shouldve see and stop the play when the foul happen not after the goals happen.
in pitch ref shouldve seen it clear, not always corrected by var.
I think since VAR came they always give the benefit of the doubt including offsides. But I get your point, some clear fouls and offsides really should be stopped right away.
U Demn right pep “THIS IS ANFIELD”!! 😂
When Pep was talking.. once I thought he'd spit...
Klopp is a passionate football man, I have met him once only briefly!! But his honesty and his integrity is so clear to see.. within seconds
More like delusional
It's the best league in the world with the worst official's - has been for a long time.
Pep actually confirms klopps arguement that the ref was not adequate for a game of this level and let citys fouls to be played on... But not the goal he says... Which had at least two offensive fouls one on fabinho and one on Alison
That's why var exists pep
The ref set the bar high for calling a foul. But when the goal came , suddenly the bar wasnt that high.
Thats his point. Ref was inconsistent
@@fridtjofsvinddal6526

Well….no! They played on, but the VAR said there was a foul before the goal. I don’t understand what Pep means here.
They agreed to "play on and play on"that is understandable. But I think they agreed on that when a foul is against you, you can choose not to stop and play on. NOT WHEN YOUR PLAYERS FOUL to score a goal. Correct me if I am wrong. That is why VAR is there. But honestly all the referee decisions today were against Liverpool. Is Taylor a new city fanboy. I think it's the bitterness from Pep about City being state club with unlimited resources and still not managing to beat strugling Liverpool at Anfield. So he finds excuses to make Liverpool look corrupt. Absurd. City lost fair and square and might have lost even heavier.
Take your red tinted sunglasses off pal. Plastic
Of course! That's the rule created as a result of var. The initiator of goal was a foul as var showed. And it's not play on play on play on, as if 5 minutes passed!
Yeah the ref didn't hang around, he walked off pretty quick when he seen JK lol

@@justsaying1818 It's absolutely disgusting 😂😂
The referee wanted to be the cool referee who doesn't whistle much. But he went too far with it.
Anthony Taylor did play on and allowed the goal in the first instance - consistent with his comms to the teams.
VAR was brought in to correct mistakes by the officials, especially the important ones. VAR interfered correctly in this instance.
The application of the rules and VAR was carried out correctly IMO.
I'm a Liverpool fan, and we clearly got let off by VAR.
Anyone can see that if that happened anywhere else on the pitch it would have just played on.
VAR just makes normal stuff seem abnormal...... after it has been rehearsed.
TOP referees earn in 1 year what players earn in a week. They are set up to be bought. 30k is the average Salary for a VAR! They get paid £850 per game. Look it up for yourself, with the amount of money that is in football it really wouldn't be a surprise if there was match fixing at this stage. (and it's fact that it has happened before, in this country too). It can't be possible that so many genuine mistakes of this level get made basically every game, when are we going to allow this to be seriously looked at? It's ruining the sport.
Don’t make it personal, it has nothing to do with earning, these actions causes injuries and he should stop and fouls these actions , this is not WWE
Yep it's abit sus
And it’s Anthony Taylor too… shocking.
Klopp didn't complain TAA handballs during 2019-20 PL
Things like this make it more exciting when both teams meet again later
More than you believe. For sure.
I'm a red, and I think that if you really love football you can't "celebrate" the injustices that favor your team, because those injustices that you celebrate today will later be done to your team and then you won't like it and you won't be able to complain because when your team was favored you decided to ignore it.
I speak in general (not about this match, yes there were fouls by both teams that AT did not whistle, but Liverpool won well)
(I don't know if it is well written, English is not my language)
It was a foul though and then allison had both hands on ball and halland kicked ut out, where's the injustice. It was the right decision.
@@adventureswithrobin2023 I think I needed to make myself understood better, I was referring in general, liverpool won and won well, the referee's performance was bad for both teams. my point was that people have to start being objective.

Referees need to be publicly accountable. Everyone in football but refs have to explain themselves in the media postgame. Officials will get more respect when they have the courage of their convictions and aren’t allowed to hide.
Why many people quit refereeing, because they have to work within a brutal and unforgiving environment that is broken and in which often only one side of the entire stadium is silently appeased, while the other half is threatening to meet you in the parking lot.
It's always entertaining to see pep whining.
You want to tell me Pep didn't know Klop would wear his signature puff jacket
This play on BS needs to stop, if it's an obvious foul then stop the play and give the free-kick...
Anfield is always tough for any opponent.. It doesn’t make matters any better with a ref like that… but glad we got our 3 pts.😅
Bernardo Silva went full on WWE on Salah with no foul given lol
Anthony Taylor was dreadful, I'm a Liverpool fan but Fabinho kicking Haaland in the balls, Salah getting pulled down by the shirt so clearly. I dont want to see Taylor ref big games anymore
Gotta laugh at media stoking controversy over intense match and highly committed managers.
A few weeks back the narrative was 'LFC v Citeh is not rivalrous enough. Players n managers admire each other too much" !

he knows ref and FA will come to save his team at anfield so very skillful of him
If both managers are not happy so that means Taylor was at fault.. klop is free of charge .. FA must sort out this problem.
Klopp saw red in many ways, just play on play on play on is of course dangerous for the kind of high intensity pressing that both teams are known for.
This referee must be banned permanently!
What's the argument here btw? Pep wants the ref to play on even when his players foul the opponent? What even?
