Outstanding series. Thank you. Quite a step from kayaks to 40' catamaran but its abundantly clear that you know your stuff. You have every right to be proud of your work, and that's a great feeling.
Fascinating. Bought my first waveski in the 70's and have owned numerous wave and surf skis over the years. Never knew how much work went into building a quality product.
Amazing amount of information in this series by a professional boatbuilder with years of experience!! A complete boat build from start to finish! The catamaran build series is great too. Thanks for posting both of these series.
Ross, loved this series. Nothing I like more than learning some "tricks of the trade", even if it is a trade I'm not involved in, as these tricks are always inspired and innovative. You were very generous with these in every episode. Stay healthy and safe and I'll see you on "The Hulls."
These videos are an excellent resource. Clearly you have the recipe for this boat super dialed in! Might you make a video about the construction of the mould? I would love to build a whitewater series of boats using a lot of the techniques used in your vids.
beautiful work Ross, I’ve been watching your other channel since the beginning, Life on the mold. : ). Just as a note, I saw another carbon build, is a full carbon airplane build in Australia, called the Raptor prototype build, very interesting vacuum bagging techniques. Anyway, love the channel can’t wait for your next build
Thanks for taking the time to do all these videos and put them up for viewing. Your attention to detail is outstanding and I'm looking forward to your next project. I don't know if you found a source for peel ply tape, but it is available from Aircraft Spruce in the US www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/peelply.php
Thanks Ross, I’ve really learned a lot from both channels. I could mention a lot of specifics, but the thing that overarches everything is preparation I think. It seems like it’s a mindset you have to get in to. When doing other work, like mechanical stuff, you can put the tools down whenever. But I’ve really learned how you have to have all the details of the next steps thought through and prepared and that you save yourself so much trouble and extra work by doing so. Will you put more up here, or concentrate on the hulls?
Just binge watched the whole series, mate you are another Attenborough with the delivery of each episode, great series your making. Just one question, do you make the paddle as wel? The Hull's so far has been very informative, really enjoying that too
Great stuff, been watching composite molding videos for over a decade and loved this series. I had a question, if I had an hdpe kayak, would I be able to just use that as a mold ?
Possibly, good prep would be critical and there would likely be some styrene attack on the surface of the plastic.Imperitive to use a barrier release like PVA or there will definately be damage to original surface.Be prepared to sacrifice plug for an outcome.Ross
Rosco, do you use Loctite on the nuts and bolts? I just learned some stuff about Loctite, it is amazing, particularly to keep out water etc.. merry xmas 🍺

Its a work of Art Rossco, I would mount it on the lounge room wall in between early morning forays in the surf.
A great video series.
Haha,good onya Benson,you are too kind.Ross
