  • Silver bullion dealer exposes 5 Types of silver you might not want to stack! In this video I discuss the five unique types of silver you may or may NOT want to stack. These five types of silver are of questionable worth for reselling your silver and my silver bullion dealer, Tim Marschner breaks down each type explaining their silver value over silver spot price and their usefulness for silver barter. Watch while I talk about my silver stacking strategy, "Stacking the Yankee Way" and continue my journey to stack a Canadian silver maple monster box. We talk about whether or not to stack certified (or graded or "slabbed") modern bullion coins, sterling silver coins, commemorative silver coins, foreign silver coins (including 80% silver Canadian coins), and finally 35% silver war nickels. Watch and see what Tim thinks of these types of silver!

I am a crane driver in the port of LA. We're still backed up like before. They have forced the ships to go 150 miles offshore. It looks like the back log is down but they just moved the ships further off shore. They claim its because they don't want them idling their engines so close to land. 🤣 we've been getting empty ships coming in for us to load nothing but empty containers onto. We're shipping thousands of empty containers over seas. Things aren't getting any better.

Sterling silver flatware got me into silver 3 years ago. Now my family of 5 use sterling, flatware, goblets bowls and the like every day for every meal. Water feels colder in a goblet because silver thermal properties make the goblet cold. Same with ice cream and hot chili. It's a silver meant to be used and enjoyed not left in a box and now a few hundred ounces later it doesn't get old, so much fun. I of course stack bullion now as well but without sterling I would have never even started. It also help "justify" to my wife at first as a "usable" & "practical" purchase and now she loves it as much as I do. Cheers!

I'm a Krugerrand guy. The Krugerrand has the distinction of being the first one ounce gold bullion coin. In 1980 the Krugerrand accounted for 90% of the total market for gold bullion coins. Every time I go to buy bullion silver coins, it seems the silver Krugerrand has the lowest premium of the major bullion coins.

Actually, the first one ounce Pure Gold Coin, was a Golden Guinea... Back in the origins of British money. (1690s)
The British Pound Sterling was a pound weight (1lb) of Sterling silver (0.925 fine.)
The Guinea was 21/- ( 21 shillings). The equivalent of £1.05 post decimalisation.
      But 300+ years ago, it was a 1oz (16oz = 1lb ) pure gold coin
When I was a boy ..a long time ago .. You could still see Gent's Outfitters selling suits for £5 guineas and that all disappeared in 1971 with decimalisation...
All preparing us for computers, and digital currencies.
This was our money system prior to Feb, 15th 1971.
Farthing (stopped being money in the 50s = ¼d - a quarter of a penny)
      Half-penny (ha'penny)
      Penny
      Threepence (thre'penny bit)
      Sixpence (6d, a tanner)
      Shilling (1s, a bob)
      Florin (2s, Two shillings - a 2 bob bit - also cockney rhyming slang, for a SH1T. ;--)))
      Half-Crown (aka: Half-dollar 2s 6d)
      Crown
      Ten-bob Note (10s, Ten Shillings)
      Pound Note
      Five Pound Note
      Ten Pound Note
      20 Pound Note
      50 Pound Note
Sovereign (22 carat and originally £1)
      Guinea (£1 1s 0d, or 21/-)
      All were currency/money...
      ;--))

I love Tim and Silver....I thought that it was interesting that Sterling silver (.925) is sort of frowned upon yet we love Junk Silver (.900). The concept is maybe more related to our thoughts on US coinage versus World coinage... I know personally, I've been one to snub my nose at Sterling coins, but give me a walking liberty half and I am thrilled...by the way, I have the same confusing thoughts regarding US Gold Eagles (.9167) and most Sovereigns (.999 or better). The premium for the US gold over world gold is crazy given the difference in purity....yet we pay it without giving it much thought.

      @YankeeStacking  2 роки тому +4

Good to know! But the "deception" was around the purity. However, you are correct in that it contains a full one troy ounce of pure silver...just like a American Gold Eagle at 22 kt is still a full troy ounce of pure gold.

@@YankeeStacking ah yes I see your point. In either case I love these ONZAs and the other Mexico silver bullion and coins. Although they started reducing the silver content through the years the Mexican coinage is one of my favorites. The ONZAs in my local have a significant premium if you can even find them any more. A year or two it wasn’t that way. They sell around here like an American Silver Eagle or more.

I hear what you're both saying,
I really don't think a national mint would produce a silver round with the purity and weight clearly stamped and then add the word "pure" with the purpose of misleading people in to believing the piece is made of .999 silver.
      (no alloy)
It says "one troy ounce of pure silver" because, as Yankee said, the gold eagle (and the krugerrand too) do contain a full one troy ounce of "pure" gold while being heavier to compensate for the 22k alloy.
Although I can see why both Yankee and Tim find it weird, the inclusion of the word "pure" in a piece made of an inpure/alloy can feel contradictory. (The gold eagle and the krugerrand say "gold", not "pure gold").
In my country, the mint doesn't produce .999 silver, only .925 33.625 silver coins, with face value (legal tender) and the certificate says "the mint guarantees that each coin contains one troy ounce of pure silver", although the coin itself only says "PLATA" "0,925" "33.625g".
Might I add, that the mint does not produce bullion, these are "commemorative", proof strike, 5000 limited mintage (per design).
(They ran out of stock half a year ago though)
The anverse remains the same for all the coins:
      "Central Reserve Bank of Perú"
      The government seal,
      The year,
      the mint mark,
      "PLATA" "0,925" "33.625g".
      Precious Metals Import Tax: 27%
      +
      V.A.T.: 18%
I'm shifting now to poured 100g bars from a jewelry, I'll have to be extra careful with testing now.
      Sorry for writing a lot.
      Cheers!

Buying graded modern bullion PM coins is a marketing scam created by HSN and other shill hucksters selling to ignorant buyers on TV. If UR going to buy PCGS-NGC-ANACS rare or high condition graded numismatic coins, ok, but realize it's a completely diff market.
The bullshit marketing of modern mass produced graded bullion is absolute insanity. We stack real money because there's a horrific economic crash coming to the USA and the world. We use PMs as a store of monetary value to use at some time as barter or sell if paper money devalues dramatically.
In order for your MS70 graded silver coin to break even with the spot price, the metal has to double or triple just to break even. Who in their right mind is going to pay a 2 or 3x spot graded premium ? People are looking to feed their families, so everything will revert to what people will pay for the metal, not some BS marketed premium.
I've been buying silver since the late 60's, made tons of $ on the Hunts and subsequent crash. I had a large pawnshop in the 90's and purchased hundreds of thousands of ounces of silver in bars, flatware and coins. Dealing with hundreds of dealers, smelters and others in the PM industry, the ONLY thing that counts is the price of the base metal, unless it's a rare or high condition numismatic coin.
Don't fall for this insane marketing trap by HSN or other retail ripoff. If the time comes where you need to use your silver to buy or trade for food, rent or survive, nobody will consider the rarity or premium of your graded bullion, it will only be worth the current spot price. I even think that graded numismatic coins will suffer a dramatic price drip in a severe economic downturn. Think about it, who in their right mind is going to pay a premium for a stabbed common date silver dollar, if it's 2007-08-09 again ? If your stock or 401k portfolio just dropped 50% and you need to come up with cash to cover your margins, good luck squeezing that graded premium out of someone.

Had a client who inherited a sterling flatware set. I think it was 12 place settings plus serving utensils. My ballpark estimate is that he had probably 60 ounces of actual silver. He got $1250 from a hock shop, which was roughly 50% of melt value. The hock shop operator was a little bit astonished to see sterling in that amount walk through the door. Most of those types of finds went to the refinery in 2008. Tells me you don't necessarily want to have sterling unless you're going to trade out of it and into .999 or .9999 coins or bars.

Sterling should at minimum bring 75% for non melted, stones included and around 90% if you remove stones and melt into bars. You can usually get sterling spot from private transactions. I buy scrap lots of silver and gold, and usually get a lot of good quality, some never worn pieces that can be resold, quickly for 300%-400% above spot. I use the money from that to buy bullion. The rest I refine or melt into shot and bars, for later refining and long term storage.

Hey, I’ve a question for anyone who can give me some advice, I live in Ireland and the only market I have easy access to is the UK market, the problem is, there is a 20% tax on silver. This takes the price of silver to around £25 per ounce which is about $34 (and that is if I’m buying a tube of 25 Britannia’s, single coins are much more expensive. Also buying eagles and maple leaves can be quite a bit more again). Is it still worth stacking silver at these prices or should I concentrate on stacking gold which does not have this tax here. I do love silver though.
