    Thank you very much! God bless you.
    10. America Home Life - inexpensive, for "conservative" customers, [part D, I don't see part G]
    9. Prosperity (SBLI) - offers discount term life insurance, they have friendly underwriting for those switching companies.
    8. AFLAC -
    7. Aetna - a lot of large rate increases recently
    6. Accendo - affiliate of Aetna in most states offer 14% discount for householder joining
    5. Humana - high deductible G plan for New Yorkers, some free gym memberships
    4. Mutual of Omaha - arguably best customer service, they don't cut corners, put forth a lot of effort. They have a lot of subsidiaries
    3. Cigna - very friendly underwriting for people switching plans vs others who really jack up prices when people switch companies.
    2. Manhattan Life - more stable rates. Not offered everywhere.
    1. Allstate - lowest rates so far, but that may change

      Just be careful. Allstate is so new to the game that its rate stability is something you cannot measure in a meaningful way. The insurance world is full of companies that price low initially for marketshare and then are awful when it comes to raising rates in the out years. And in most states, you can't just change carriers without medical underwriting so choosing an unproven carrier can be dangerous. If you are in NYS, have fun - you can change every month. Indeed, in NYS, feel free to choose a MA plan until you need flexible medical care and access to important national hospitals. and then switch to Medicare with a supplement when you get sick and need the network, free of pre-approval headaches. For the rest is us, be very careful.
      My advice, and I am not a broker, just someone who was in the industry, is to pick the largest, most financially secure company you can find. Large matters because the risk pool will be the best for future rate increases. And financially secure matters because 2008 can happen again. I personally chose UHC because they have by far the largest medicare supplement (and for its worth MA) carrier. And they are the most financially secure. I have no affiliation with AARP, UHC or anyone . Just my informed opinion.

    Hi there. This is great information. I was surprised when you mentioned Aetna as not in the top 5. I had been told that due to so many people going with them, they can keep their rate increases smaller. When will you be doing an update for 2024? Mutual of Omaha coming out with lots of new "subsidiaries" sounds like the practice of starting new patient pools and cutting off new enrollments into the existing pools. As the old pool ages, with no new (thus younger) enrollees, the rates go up. MoO is apparently known for this practice... so I'm surprised MoO is on your list at all.

    • @MedicareNationwide
      @MedicareNationwide  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching the video and commenting with your thoughts on the issue. Mutual of Omaha leans heavily on its Medicare supplement product line as opposed to its Medicare Advantage line of business. I have shared in other comments why I recommend this company below. They are a mutual company, not a stock company, meaning they make decisions based on their policyholders more so than worrying about short-term profits for their stockholders. They are not ranked high strictly because of rate stability, they are ranked high because they are a quality carrier. However, I would argue there are plenty of carriers that have a worse reputation for rate increases. Plus, Mutual of Omaha has a strong High-deductible Plan G. My recommendations have changed since the making of this video, you can reach out to me if you would like to learn more.

    You lost me at #4, Mutual of Omaha. I have some customers who have been with them and have had very high rate increases (no rate stability) and can't pass medical underwriting to get another supplement plan. They have used several subsidiary companies to write new business while raising the rates on people they already have on the books. And at #1, Allstate with a big question about rate stability? Not sure about your rating criteria or the credibility of your list.

    • @MedicareNationwide
      @MedicareNationwide  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching our video and contributing.
      They offer High-deductible Plan G, which a lot of the carriers do not. Especially the biggest carrier names you can think of that find that product not to be profitable enough for them.
      I am licensed in 48 states and there are certain states where they have historically shown price stability, especially for Plan N.
      They have more billing options than any other carrier, they don't require folks to provide their banking or social security numbers over the phone.
      They have a self-enrollment link that folks can go to here if they don't want to speak to an agent and want to DIY: applyformedsupp.com/UA$KSF
      They allow you to pay by credit card at any time of the month.
      They are arguably the fastest to pay claims with the best customer service.
      They are the fastest to respond back to agents and the easiest carrier to work with and wouldn't ask me not to mention them in this video, like some carriers.
      They have a nice website for consumers. They are A+ rated. They are the most referred by name carrier of our large book of business. Mutual of Omaha is definitely a quality company and deserves to be in the top 5. We do internal replacements for our current book when necessary. They would be number 1 if it wasn't for their high rate increases. Some folks prefer quality and don't mind paying more for it.
      Allstate is new, but their discount can be as high as 25% and they are rated A+ as of 2023. You are free to come up with your own list. Also, I did this video 7 months ago to give people an idea of the insurance landscape, so my recommendations have changed since as insurance rates have changed.

      @MarkM58 10 місяців тому +2

      Wrong. UHC is one of the largest insurance companies in the country with over 350,000 employees, of which my wife is one. AARP is not part of UHC or vice versa. AARP simply endorses the UHC program, which provides discounts for their members. UHC has the largest number medicare supps and advantage plans inforce.

      This is a really great question that others will have after watching this video. So thank you for bringing it up! Medicare supplement plans are federally standardized. The insurance carriers have to offer the same coverage.
      For example, after Medicare pays 80% of your medical claim they send notice to your secondary insurance carrier to pay 20% of the remaining amount. All the insurance carriers are responsible for the 20% after Medicare approves the claim.
      If Medicare is your primary insurance it means that all you need is Medicare to approve your medical claims and the secondary insurance will be notified to pay the difference.
      You have another choice though if you replace Medicare as your primary insurance.
      If you adopt a Medicare Advantage plan, you replace Medicare as your primary insurance and now your Medicare Advantage insurance carrier will manage your care, approve claims, and determine if doctors will be covered.
      This video is not about comparing plan differences. This video is about carriers that offer the same Medicare supplement/Medigap coverage. Does my explanation help? You can call me if you want to discuss the plans offered by Medicare in further depth at 1-833-407-1107.
      Here's a video I made that discusses the main differences between the types of major plans offered for those on Medicare: ua-cam.com/video/fsaR-1Cej0k/v-deo.html
