Question: when you were trying to catch the R160 Q, what time did you got to Atlantic Barclays Center because I caught it today and got to Barclays around 8:40AM and I came from the Bronx left my house at 7:30AM, got to 14TH st Union Square at 8:25AM and caught it on the first try
I had the opportunity to go to that pop up shop in the past, but was always busy. Everything is too pricy. Also you should have grabbed a slice of pizza at Spumoni Gardens just a few blocks away from the area. Really good pizza.

Back in the late 80’s/early 90’s the MTA held “Subway Memorabilia Sales” at the Transit Museum. The prices were so much more reasonable. I bought 2 of the old square station globes in their original box, with M stickers for $25. One year I locked up an original Unimark Graphics Standards Manual, brand new, for $10. I also bought a 5 foot long station sign that abbreviated Brooklyn in the main direction for $25. I could have bought the right half of the sign but had no place to put a 10 foot long sign. In fact, The NY Times did an article with photo about the sale and I was in the pic - had no idea until a co-worker pointed it out to me. Maybe MTA will do this again in the future with lower prices since they’ll have Congestion Gouging in place to cover selling this stuff at a purchasable price.
I’m so interested with this but this is completely out of my price range. I have no place in my house to hang it on my wall even my basement or my bedroom. I’ll have to pass or buy those cheap signs at the NYTM store. Very very expensive
@@SuprToe If they had a smaller 18th Avenue (D) sign I would consider it cause that’s my station stop where I live but I have a certain budget to spend. These signs were original since whenever they constructed each station, they would use it as scrap metal or sell them as a piece of history from over 25 years or so. I just didn’t like the idea of making an appointment just to look for old subway signs, but if it was free, I’ve considered going cause it’s not too far from the where I live and o technically live around the area. Considering those kind of signs, I juts don’t see myself buying those signs and installing them in my house. At least you tried to find the Hoyt-Schemehorn station sign but unfortunately it’s $600-$700, that is wayyy over my budget. I’m also glad you had a great time exploring the pop up shop, didn’t know it was near my neighborhood by Coney Island, could’ve taken the B64 to Bay 50th Street. Anyways have a good weekend
The prices had me a little "tilted". Especially because they want 4 figers for dirty, dingy, rusted, and nearly faded entrance sign just cuz there's an Orange Q on it. I get the authenticity of it but they should be priced based on their condition, not their rarity. Why pay $1200 for a sign that might require you to get a tetanus shot if you hold it the wrong way? Thanks for showing us this before we blindly spent money on it.
Yeah. I guess it’s the genuine authenticity that is the selling point for some people. Replicas are cheaper and look nicer, but these are actual historical markers.
Pretty much has been eradicated since 2010. Even the original signs who had the Orange M stickerd over the Brown has been placed with legit Orange M signs.

If so, you might want to consider wearing your Miami shoes - you tend to have good luck when wearing them. Maybe they will help you snag a great deal the next time the MTA does this.
