  • Quick and Easy Savory Cheese Pie Recipe
    This quick and easy savory cheese pie recipe is of Afghan origin and I found it under the name of Bolani, but this version with cheese is Caucasian, it is called "Кавказские Лепёшки" and their traditional filling contains in addition to cream cheese, a lot of fresh dill and green onions all finely chopped. But I adapted the original recipe to our tastes, so I gave up the vegetables, I added eggs and mixed cream cheese with local savoury cheese (similar with feta cheese). The pies are not fried in oil, but baked in a hot pan (as on the hob) until browned on both sides, then greased with melted butter (if you want to be a little more dietetic you can give up butter but the pies will be a little dry) .
    ⭐ Ingredients for pie dough (10-12 pies):
    200ml warm water
    100ml warm milk
    1 egg yolk
    half teaspoon of salt
    500g all purpose flour (add an extra 50g only if needed)
    1 teaspoon of baking powder
    30ml vegetable oil
    ⭐ Ingredients for the cheese filling:
    400g of creme cheese (ricotta or cottage cheese)
    1 large egg
    a pinch of salt
    200g fetta cheese
    Melted butter for brushing (around 100g)
