    A real documentary !!! Even though it is not easy to keep the concentration for almost 50 minutes this is one hell of a video ! Not a stone left unturned, not a detail left undiscussed, not a fact left undisclosed ! TERRIFIC JOB on every account !!! And the new VW Polo... Designed, trimmed, equipped and built to last ! Proper VW !

    What I love about this Polo is the way they've evolved it, rather than just dumped all the design elements. The interior is super quality and I do like the idea of big-car refinement. If they were more reliable, I'd have one. Great review, in-depth and full of useful detail as always.

    I bought one yesterday and I love it! Originally wanted an Ibiza but as a commuter the polo was much quieter, more refined and comfortable. The equivalent fiesta would cost the same (if not more) and would deprecate faster. Plus not keen on that rear B Max styling of the new fiesta

    I've never seen a 1.5 engine for the R-Line. I originally looked before purchasing my 115ps R-Line. The LED headlights also seem quite rare on used R-Line models as I only found 1 vehicle in the over 100 that I looked though that had the LEDs optioned.

    Had a polo as a rental car in London, it had the 80hp 1.0 litre petrol engine. The car was very easy to drive and felt premium and classy. Only downside was the engine was weak, it was quiet but incredibly weak and sluggish. It was okay on the motorway, but with city driving and hills it died

    This reviewer is so clued up on the verdicts of other journalists on Polos, that I wonder how fresh his insights really are. He repeats the usual hype about Polo comfort and damping quality, yet having put up with my 2011 Polo from new, I know that the seats are far from perfect on long trips, the ride is bouncy and the suspension often clonks over broken surfaces (despite being checked for faults). The heater takes ages to warm up too. I'd be checking for improvement in all these areas before falling for the VW hype about connectivity and digital gimmicks. And although mine has been reliable, Polos do not do well in surveys (especially not the diesels).l And in all this formidably long review, we never find out whether the cheapest engines can keep up with the traffic

      @Dapdoi Ardon yes and hopefully it will feel a lot more rigid. My Polo at only 35k miles feels a bit loose over bumps and the front suspension easily clonks. It's been checked over very often. It's always felt like that. By comparison both a Honda HRV and a Ford EcoSport I rode in felt tighter and more all of a piece, even if the ride was actually firmer

    I do not agree with this review .l have no problem with the car's driving dynamics but have to say that our roads still defeat its efforts at a smooth ride, even if some other cars are even worse. Nor is it quiet at speed. And the brakes are infuriatingly grabby at low speeds. I have the 115ps engine with the dsg box and it makes the most peculiar chuntering noises over rough surfaces. Quite worrying. Overall, not awfully impressed with the car. Could the reviewer try a bit harder to avoid vw hype?

    • @piglet5287
      @piglet5287 6 років тому +2

      Journalists always say the same things about Polos - and the "Polo people" this journalist refers to so often. Even in 2011 when I bought my Mark 5 they were repeating " reliable, comfortable, good ride, a bit dull" to a man (or woman). It's only the owners who find out that in reality the seats aren't comfortable, the ride is restless and clonky over speed humps and the heater takes ages to warm up. And reliability is a mixed bag (ok with mine as it happens once past Year 3)

    • @ranxzy
      @ranxzy 6 років тому +1

      When I tried to new 2018 Polo in the SE trim it gave the impression of definitely a good car for the segment, but not without blemishes. Some car journalists do not provide the whole picture.
      The ride could definitely be more forgiving over bumps - although not overly hard. The positive thing is that the ride is actually impressive when up to speed at 30-50mph. I was expecting a bit better ride on the rough roads at low speeds though, let's face it in London that's the majority of the surfaces we tackle.

      I have the SEL 115 DSG. I received the car brand new on June 1st. I found the size increase and big car refinement a real boon that allowed me to finally purchase a POLO, the old modal was just too small and if I wanted ACC or lane departure or a Digital dash I had to look in the segment above. I don not like owning a big car just for its sake. I do find it well built and the ride is one of the best I have experienced. MY DSG settled down after a couple of months and seems to be fine. I have to say there is one major issue that annoys me with this particular Polo with a DSG gear box and that is the auto stop start. Its bordering on dangerous. The auto stop start kicks in before the car has actually stopped sometimes, its late to restart when you want to pull away especially noticeable at busy junctions. Truly I have to switch the Auto stop start OFF as part of my car start up procedure. Push the button to start the car then select the driver mode I want for the drive then switch off auto stop start. Of course there are other minor issues with the polo but there are a lot less compromises than I would have to make with almost any other car in this segment and many from the segment above.Guess what the Polo is not perfect! but then I doubt the perfect car has even been conceived let alone built and sold yet.

    • @jimviv6030
      @jimviv6030 6 років тому +1

      @@nonenone3898 interesting post. My DSG box also seems to have settled somewhat, albeit still not as smootth as the Fabia which it replaced.
      I never use the auto stop start as it is useless.
      Another irritation is the collision avoidance warning, which either warns me when there is no issue or beeps after I have started braking, which is slightly pointless. My other VAG cars have had the same problem.
      Another discovery I made recently was that the brakes on a near identical Polo I had as a courtesy car were smooth as silk, unlike mine! Oh well !
      Still, not a bad little car really
