Thanks for the parts roundup Steve. I ordered front and rear axle kit, steering, springs from Renegade a week ago. New CT90 wheels, tires, tubes, rear shocks, yes, and torque converter have mostly arrived. Rear brake to purchase yet. 1x3x.065x20' rectangular tube 80ish bucks a stick here in Montana. We're at 2000.00 bucks so far. Have a new 212 Predator sitting on the shelf and 4x10 sheets of aluminum as I work with it anyway. Appears to be a 3000.00 project, although I think a person could save 500.00 to 1000.00 building their own axles and using used rims and tires but quality could suffer.
Super helpful! That one cyclekart video went viral and now everyone wants to build one. This is a great rundown of your updated parts list, I've found all your videos hugely informative and gives me the confidence to build at least the frame, and start experimenting on building the body.
also add to the parts list provided by you that i popped online and the kit price [cyclekart builder] was starting at $9000 US dollars basic and $14000 top range = so thanks again steve for the extra effort in parts and obtainability through suppliers and hope people are respectful when contacting you !!! also to add the cycle kart history is starting so i hope to see a collection on youtube one day [ the godfather and steve vinson car's may hold elvis presley value and status ] all the best from brad western australia
Thanks great info, I like the front spindle & bearing combo your using. Seems far better than other methods on the front I've seen. I will definitely be using this for my build. 👍
Every time I watch a video on 'CycleKarts', the thought goes through my head.."I need a bigger workspace/workshop", I guess we all have our daydreams/nightmares, LOL!
Well, I was all in and had friends interested as well. Looks like we are OUT until repro wheels are available again. Just called a local moto scrap yard and they say they get $125-200 per 17" wheel spouting the perceived value of the CT bikes. I just can't play that game. I have a C70 and my friend has many of them but we are not destroying complete machines just to get wheels. The Chinese MX wheels don't look worth the chance to me. I'd buy new VCK wheels if available but... Looks like I'll check in on the hobby later. Keep building and racing!
If you here in the USA, you can order brand new wheels from andrew@in-groundtrampolines.com Andrew has them in stock and ready to ship. He is located in Phoenix and is a friend of mine. Send him and email and get it set up.
@@stevevinson6030LOL This is a common mistake. I have mechanic and machinist friends who call it a keyway instead of a key. It is an issue when you try to buy a "keyway". lol
I just found your channel and after watching a few videos, I'm thinking of building something like this just for kicks (plywood body and all). My question is on the back end, would the official competitive rules allow somebody to use an axle pulled from a go-kart and retrofitted to use 17 in. spoke rims from a dirt bike? Or does the axle have to be a specific diameter and Honda rims? Could I use a modified rack, pinion and spindle system from a Go-kart for the steering as well? Hope to hear back soon, and awesome video!
Yes, all that is fine. The most important thing is to keep your inspiration car in mind when making these choices. The Rack and Pinion will likely be hidden by the body, but the spindles and other parts that are visible, we hope that these look period correct, as much as possible. I have seen some guys chop the front suspension off of a golf kart or an ATV, it just doesn't look quite right. We encourage creativity and reusing old stuff when it makes sense
The Honda CT90 Wheels are kind of hard to find any that aren't bent is there any other will configuration that will work in place of it The ones on eBay are narrower and don't look as good That's the only thing that's holding me up from building my first cycle car is finding a good wheel tire combination anybody have any info let me know please thank you
here is as link to a post on our FaceBook page that has the PDF of the CycleKart Wheel Bible, this has lots of helpful information regarding CycleKart wheels. facebook.com/share/p/9fWRo2gHZCA2z8cU/
this is the only EBAY vendor we recommend, the other guy who advertises US STOCK has had some quality issues reported by other cyclekarters. www.ebay.com/itm/360470589040?media=COPY&mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=NIOOI2KxTzO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=8fFASmGdS4C&var=&widget_ver=artemis
Nice presentation. But I have a question. Supposedly the 'track' of a cyclekart is 38". The definition of 'track' is center of tire to center of tire, but in some comments I've seen, people interpret that as the overall width (outside of tire to outside of tire). So what is it? Overall width, or center-to-center?
The authors of the guidelines are using 39" at the outside of the tire. Not the center of the tire. If using a standard width 36" rear axle, 39" is where your tires will be exactly.
Most karts are between 250 and 280 pounds, some are heavier. Lots of big guys have built CycleKarts. I added helper springs to mine to stiffen the front, but really most of the weight is on the rear axle, the front axle doesn't carry much load.
I want to take a old Honda goldwing shaft drive model and put as much of th bike in car build as I can, use a old 30s Ford banjo rear end shortened down
I will make my own with no engine, similar driving as a bike, 4 wheels and 5 seats, steering wheel like a car, 23 gears, top speed: 269 km/h, hill pedal on top of steering wheel, brakes when steering wheel Schintu logo pushed. Name: Schintu Tipo 1
I live in a large city, and would be terrified to share the road with real cars. But if you live someplace a bit more tame, probably the same rules apply to a car. Lights, horn, turn signals a wind screen? Really determined by your local rules. thanks for watching.
The problem I see with these machines is the wheels. Motorcycle wheels are not designed for side loading. This makes them prone to failure when sliding, drifting or off road when used on a car (motorcycles lean into corners eliminating side loading). Lawn mowers are better for racing. Cycle carts are just plain fun, but not for any kind of excitement when racing.
Why not just buy racing kart parts. U used to race one. I don’t understand. I could get all those parts and axel bearing carriers. Why is so expensive. I thought u guys just made these lil carts. U buy all the parts. U can’t even make a steering shaft urself. Buy the axels and bearings build the rest. Would be fun. Make some stuff more fun way cheaper
Of coarse you can make your own parts. Many guys don't want to or don't have the tools or skills to make some parts that are readily available. Also, not every build needs every part on the list. Thanks for watching.
@@stevevinson6030 I get that. A lot of times. I see these guys waiting for parts rite. They got tubing rite behind them next shot a welder. They always have good tools. Better than mine. Just saying build so stuff. I plan to build one. I thought they were all made custom.

It doesn’t need to have any interference from motor sport organisations or regulatory bodies other than what exists at the present time.

Yes. It is a process to learn new skills. That is part of what makes this hobby so interesting.

Renegade CycleKart makes parts for our hobby, but no, this is a build it yourself sort of deal.
how much does it cost?
Less than $2500
Where do we download the list?
It is in the FILES tab on the Facebook pages for CycleKarts North America.
A shortage of 90 Honda wheels as these bikes are becoming in demand as a classic collectors item. What other rims are acceptable for a cycle kart?
Pretty much any 17" x1.4" or 1.6" motorcycle wheel will work. New wheels are still made in Thailand and you may be able to find them on Ebay
