Hi Simon, Thank you for your latest video. I love watching them, seeing your different, lazer accurate rifles, and listening to your commentary. With great respect, Simon, you say your FX rifle is better than your Theoben because of it's range. However, you purchased your Theoben in 1996. The Theobens were game changers back then, as I know you'll know that. So, with all that time passed, it's long enough for FX to be designing an air rifle like they have, and with no doubt whatsoever, you've demonstrated that they have! That saying you said about, I first learned about, in JDJ Braithwaite's airgun shooting book. "Beware of the hunter with only one gun!" As airguns were out of the question for me, growing, I have now some of the air rifles I dreamed of, as a youngster, and because of that famous saying, I spend time on my range, producing cards specific to each air rifle, as I just simply can't remember how one airgun shoots, when I've had hold of another. I'd love to be that shooter/hunter with only one rifle. However, probably like you, I'd never part with any of my air rifles, as I spent a major part of my life yearning to own them and never expecting I would. I absolutely adore adore having them now, owning and using them. I love their workmanship/craftsmanship, accuracy, function, fine tolerances, machining, etc. Thank you again for another fantastic view and the commentary/advice that you very kindly share with us. Best wishes, Ian. Ps. Your Magpie decoy looked fantastic, floating in the breeze.
Ye thank you Ian and to be fair i kind of worded it about the Rapid a bit wrong when i look back because for its age its still one hell of a rifle and i honestly doubt that in another say 25 years the FX King is still going as strong as say the Rapid is now.
@simon6ppc246 Hi Simon, Thank you for your reply. I would never contradict anything you say, as you're far more knowledgeable and experienced than I am. It's just that I remember the Theoben Rapid first coming out and how I so would have liked one. However, there was a pecking order in our household, and if my dad couldn't afford one, I'd no chance. Just forget about it! That was a fantastic time in British airgun history, though I'm no specialist in any of it. I think you'd know more about this than I do. Around about that time too, Ripley Air rifles were developing pcp's, and like Theoben's, they were fantastic game changer's, too. As you'll also know, Simon, Theoben made fantastic gas ram rifles, too. I think they were mainly break barrels. Their breech lock ups and barrel blueing quality were knee trembling, much like the quality of the Air Arms TX200 blueing is today. It was lovely to see you'd replied to my message. Thank you and take care, Ian.
“Beware of the man that shoots one rifle”…I liked that. No reason to retire your .177 Wolverine…it still gets the job done very well. I still think about Jack when I see you. Good video. ✅👍🏻🎯
I control magpies in my place with a Larsen trap, primarily for pheasant protection. I often have five or six goldfinches in the garden. I never made the connection between magpie control and small garden birds, but you are right.
Hey mate, just back from a short break and catching up on your vids which, as always, are just so engaging, entertaining and leave you counting down to the next one. Got a coupla others to watch but I'll just comment on this one for fear of going into jibba jabba overdrive lol. Hope your well and all the best!
Great video Simon as always. Enjoy your pigeon curry, I make some mean pigeon & bacon burgers. I agree .177 does the job fine if placed in the right spot buddy.

Great to see people keeping on top of pest control for the landowners good enough to give them permissions. I shoot shotguns and rifles and i am looking at getting air rifle for pest control in farmers barns here in ireland. Would you suggest pcp or springer and something that won't damage sheds? Thanks simon
Hi Simon,l had a Rapid 12 that was in .20 a while ago very accurate and l had lots of fun with it but a guy with an FC talked me into selling it to him because he knew he could get it up rated to go on his FC ,still l got good money l thought at £500 so l let it go,very nice gun too😢
As a kid had a paratrooper repeater 177 no idea if it was any good ,but to me it was brill eaten a lot of wood pigeon and other stuff that now you cant
hi simon, i re watched this episode. even tho your rapid is a 1996 some 28 year old. I have no doubt that the king is more viirsitale with a adjustment in power and ammo, but honestly do you think that things have moved on that much over the last 28 year. Maybe a side lever or a few dials but your wolverine and the king are just advancements on the simple and reliable rapid 7.
Ye Brendan the Rapid 7 i have kind of grown up with it and to be fair is still a part of me but technology moving on i keep leaving it in the gun cabinet and i don't like what i do but these new rifles i use really are un real but you are right in what your saying as these new rifles are no more accurate end off just more versatile.
I have pal ye, it shot the 21 Gr H/Ns brilliant at 930 ftps just i only got around 25 shots so it kind of put me off them but they honestly shot under an inch at 100 yards in calm conditions
I though you are a member of the free and accepted mason, i think i saw a freemason logo in the tip of a suppressor that you used while your hunting under the bush with your handsome dog...😊
That was a nice surprise Simon great video for Sunday evening, do miss your signature tune all the best 👍
Thank you Alan to be fair it was Jacks tune but i will put it back in soon.
I don't care which rifle you use. I really enjoy watching everything you do and film.
Thank you Ridin 👍

Simon can I ask your right handed but when you shoot you look through the scope with your left eye the pigeon at 14:55 😳
If you look proper pal i am using my right eye
Funny I thought the same a few videos ago.

Lol they work spot on to be honest Colin.
Please explain why you drilled a hole in the scope cover
Its a 7mm hole Melvyn it makes the picture a tad sharper in the day
