It is not a dye you give to the birds, it is a natural colour food, it will only have full effect on birds that carry the red gene. Other yellow ground birds will turn orange
@@davidsbirdroom ty I'm only new I got 2 mules bits of red in them now they turned yellow I got them in Jan. Is it to late and what is the food I get. Plus I got a yellow and brown canary can they breed with mules

@@Ukman-england mules can be used as foster parents but straight canary pairs are more reliable. Mules are mainly for singing or show type birds, not for reproduction they are infertile.hope this helps.

My goldfinches got colour feeding this year as i will not be showing them. Any houseware shop would have these.
How long do u give this dye for and is it do late after moulting
It only has effect during the moult as the new feather grow, once grown they cannot be coloured.

Mules are infertile so no point in crossing any canary with them.
Carophyll red is what is used to colour feed.
