I'm over a year late, and obviously Dodie won't see this, but this song is so special to me. My mum and dad used to play his in the car on our way to France for the holidays. Mum and me would dance around the room to it. The fact that Dodie covered it, especially today when I'm feeling down, just makes me so happy.

I guess I think it's a little arrogant of you, though, to act like you're an authority on when people should change lyrics. You consider it "needless" to change the pronouns, but that's just your opinion. Someone else who finds it easier to relate to by changing the pronouns might disagree with you, and I don't think that's invalid just because they feel a different way than you. When you're making a cover, you are trying to make the song your own, and some people might find changing lyrics a way of doing that (it doesn't have to be pronouns, it could be anything, whole words, etc). And you might _personally_ prefer changed or unchanged lyrics, but a person's worth shouldn't really be measured based on their personal interpretation of a song. Being embarrassed to be gay would be homophobic, but claiming that you relate less (or more) to a gay interpretation of a song is just expressing who you are and that is simply not something anyone should have to be ashamed of or called a homophobe for. In this case Dodie found a way to relate to the song by keeping the pronouns the same, but if she related to the song in a different way, I wouldn't have bashed her just from having a different connection to the song.

Again, who are you to say that there is no reason? Just because _you_ wouldn't want to change lyrics doesn't mean everyone else wouldn't. It's like saying "there is no reason to like x music" -- well, you might _personally_ think that, but someone different from you might find a lot of reasons to like some kind of music that you don't like.

The first 2 days of my period I get such bad cramps and migraines that I can't even get out of bed for more than 2 minutes without puking, so I'm basically on bed rest.
