    Is it illegal to adjust your pieces when your opponent clock is running? The big guy in blue sweat shirt was constantly adjusting

      In slow chess that would be illegal (due to the "touch-move" rule). In blitz, they often use a "clock-move" rule, meaning, your move is not final and you can do what you wish with the pieces and it's not final until you punch your clock.
