I’m plus size and pregnant 😊 I’m almost 29 weeks and I’ve had a wonderful and blessed pregnancy. I’ve lost around 17 pounds & I have tested negative for GD. I had no morning sickness whatsoever either. I’m so grateful!

I am late but i was plus size and pregnant 300 pounds plus. I lost 30 pounds during the course of my pregnancy. I had my daughter at 39 weeks due to at the end my blood pressure was fluctuating. I had a great pregnancy just a rude ob. My birth experience was beautiful. My daughter is now a very happy and active 9 month old.

This video made me tear up and i am not pregnant yet. I am feeling so lost and alone and scared. Anyway your video is helping me feel a little less alone... 😢

Marie-Andrée Fréchette girl, I’m going through the same thing. Both of my sisters in-laws just had their first babies.
My mother passed away a few years ago and I don’t have many friends or anybody that I would want to share my pregnancy concerns with.
      I wish you the best!!!
Something that I am going to take away from this video is the fact that our bodies are capable of creating happy healthy babies just like everyone else. I’m going to work on not resenting my body.
I’m going to appreciate it and proudly carry this little miracle inside of me.

Liliana Carino hey, I’m plus size due to my thyroid, and I also have irregular periods. I counted from my expected period based on my irregular period 14 days. Always start from when your period is suppose to start down by 14 days as that’s when ovulation is suppose to occur. Then I started a week before to a week or two after twice a week since a sperm can last 5 days in a women’s cervix. I am 17 weeks, I been trying naturally for 1 year but did some google research and got pregnant a couple months later. I’m just sharing my personal experience that worked for me.

Hope this helps- baby dust for you! Be patient you're next.

I’m so worried that I can’t get pregnant! I just turn 34 today (september 11) and we don’t have the conditions to have a baby right now, but my mother in law keeps saying that she is really worried about me not be able to get pregnant because I’m overweight and « not getting younger » as she said.

Yes, that's what our bodies were designed to do. I think a lot of the time women are told it's taking to long we have to rush this with pitocin. I wish sometimes the nurses and doctors would just slow down and go with the flow. With my daughter I went in to get induced and I was already in labor so I went back home for like 10hrs or so. With my son I waited till I was like 4cm dilated before going in. I just think in the US it's all about money and convince for the doctor. They want to get u in and out and have u home by that 3rd day

I came back in to get my birth control out right after my wedding. Both times she didn’t say anything to me about my weight and the possible complications. I’m upset she wasn’t more forward with me but I’m also glad she isn’t making a huge deal out of it. Some women just carry babies easier than others. So don't assume it'll be a hard pregnancy just bc youre big. It depends on the woman, not their size.

I started off 195lbs when I got pregnant and I thought to myself "Oh no I've never been 200lbs before but it's going to happen now." I did really great with weight gain in my 1st and 2nd trimester. Only put on like 10lbs and everyone said how great I looked. People actually told me I looked prettier and thinner then before pregnancy. I got a test done for the gestational diabetes and don't have it. But now in my third trimester I feel like the scale keeps going up on me and I'm afraid my doctors will be upset. I have to go for regular stress testing to make sure baby is okay. Third trimester is hard. I just feel big and swollen all over. I'm excited to have my baby and get back into good shape. 👍I never had the issue with my stomach because my body type is pear and I didn't have much of a belly before pregnancy. Not sure if anyone can relate

When I talked to her about my weight she said "you look good" when I was concerned about my body not being ready to carry a baby again... she allayed my concerns of possibly losing my baby by saying "to not be too hard on myself" I am very blessed to have this woman. I guess I just wanted to brag on her for a momen.. there are good Dr's out there. When you find one, hold on to them. I literally just followed her to her new practice, because she's that important to me.

I’m plus size and pregnant. I am 264 pounds and 12 weeks. I pray for a healthy pregnancy. I have pcos and was told I’d never have anymore children after my daughter who is turning 11 next month. I am high risk and I am terrified of losing this one. So far things are good. I had a ultrasound yesterday and saw a good heartbeat on monitor but they couldn’t find it with Doppler so doc said it’s okay that sometimes this early you may not hear it yet but she assured me the baby is fine and has heartbeat. I go in this following Tuesday for another ultrasound in the ultrasound building so I am excited. The ultrasound you get in the ultrasound building is a lot better the ones in doctor office are small portable ones and harder to see. I really need some prayers.

You’re terrified but not enough to try a strict diet before getting pregnant.
Be honest: you are obese and no one can even ask you to diet and lose weight.
      Not even your babies.
      That is being selfish.

I love the discussion in these comments in addition to this video! I think it's so important to be open and consider all the options, especially while pregnant! Health is a constant experience that is personal for everyone. I have found a way healthier lifestyle by focusing on experiencing my body rather than perceiving it through the eyes of the other people.

Thank you, this was very helpful 😊
I was normal weight with my 1st pregnancy but gained 45lbs.
My 2nd pregnancy I was active, healthy and healthy weight. I gained around 35lbs.
This is now my 3rd pregnancy and I had gained a good bit of weight during the pandemic, stress eating, military move, so I was overweight bordering the obese bmi. On my first prenatal appointment I did not feel good about where I was.
I skipped a period and ovulated exactly 1 month late. I told the midwife but they went off of the last menstrual cycle. When I called to get an ultrasound for dating they told me that I was too far along and should just wait for my 20week ultrasound. The next prenatal appointment the midwife measured my uterus and said that I was actually measuring 2-3weeks further than the menstrual cycle and that I should schedule my 20week ultrasound appointment.
I have never been treated like this or left feeling so confused in my medical care. I decided since I couldn't get in to see them for an ultrasound that I'd just pay for one out in town. The ultrasound person there told me I was measuring around 12-13 weeks, which was accurate based on the ovulation date I had.
I felt like I was being treated worse and judged based on my starting weight. Also I don't have much confidence in the medical providers that I am seeing.
This is not my first pregnancy and in both of my previous pregnancies they dated my pregnancy using blood work, and an ultrasound in the office. Never did i get the run around or get talked down to like this. It was also the way she talked to me about being obese. And how she said it was too late for me to lose the weight like I disappointed her.
I am looking around for a new provider, but I'm nervous that this is just how they'll treat me. Maybe I'm better off staying away from medical providers, skip a few prenatal appointments. It seems like all they do is check my weight, remind me of my weight, check my BP and tell me that I'm at increased risk of pre-eclampsia and GD.
I have had 2 very healthy pregnancies and I lose all the baby weight and then some after baby arrives through breastfeeding and just running around being a parent.
After prenatal appointments I feel so ashamed and keep myself going on 2 small meals a day and trying to stay full by drinking water. Once I hit the 2nd trimester I have been feeling starved and have wild cravings. I never had cravings with my other pregnancies, I feel bad that I'm not enjoying this pregnancy as much as my previous ones. It's been hard though.
My midwife only wants me to gain 20lbs (pregnancy weight) and I've already gained 7lbs at 16weeks.

I'm 196 lbs and 24 weeks right now. Before I got pregnant I was 230 lbs. I've had hypermesis gravardium the entire pregnancy and it hasn't tapered off. I'm exhausted constantly and sleeping 12-14 hours a day. The baby's kicking started last week and it's been so scary to feel the movements inside my belly. I'm so scared of all the aches and pains I'm having I hate pregnancy!
Also my Doctor and OBGYN have talked down to me the entire pregnancy like I'm too fat to give birth and be a mother.
Happy and healthy pregnancies ladies. May you feel like yourself soon 🥰

In my situation, I can’t really choose my doctor but ALL my appointments have been based on my weight (BMI over 30) even though my baby and myself are “healthy.” Quote on quote because I know I’m overweight. I’ve only gained 5 pounds (27 weeks) and all my glucose tests have come out negative. I feel so alone when it comes to advocating for myself because I have this feeling of “making excuses” for myself as a plus size pregnant woman. I want my next appointment to work for me and I hope I can up for myself this time.

But being plus size (obese) IS bad on us, heavy on our organs, harder breathing, insulin resistance, higher risk of diabetes, sleep apnea, heart disease, cancers, etc. I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can with this pregnancy so it can not only be easier on me, so my hormones don't go out of wack and I don't lose the baby, so he or she won't have problems, etc.

Thanks for this video! Hubby and I are TTC baby #2. I am plus size and had a totally healthy and normal pregnancy and delivery with my first. I was labeled high risk simply because of my weight (unsure if that’s common or not). Toward the end they wanted to do an extra ultrasound because they were concerned the baby would be too big (🙄), despite me telling them I was born at 8lb and my husband around 7lb. I knew she wasn’t too big as I carried her around every day. And alas my daughter was born a healthy 8lb 3oz. I loved proving them wrong. 🙃😉

I went from 126lb to 200 lb with my oldest son, who's now 19 years old.
Before I was pregnant with my 2nd son I started at 185 then went up to 230lb. He's 7 years old now, and I haven't lost the weight, but now I'm 255 lbs despite trying to modify diet and exercise.
Found out a couple of months ago, my cortisol levels are off, and progesterone is low. I started topical progesterone, and now, this month, I'm 6 days late! I'm Panicking because I'm 39 years old and now morbidly obese. I'm scared I'll die giving birth, but I don't want an abortion and can't do adoption.
I'm just praying it's my hormones or even perimenopause starting... even though that scares the hell out of me too 😞😓😩

It is possible to have perfectly healthy pregnancy while plus size, though complications do exist for some no matter their weight. Every pregnancy and woman is different. I'm expecting my 6th baby in 10 years, and have slowly increased weight with each one. So I have been plus size with the last 3. My 4th and 5th were born on or near due date vaginally without a single complication (just like my first 3 when I was within normal weight range), same with this baby so far. I'm 26 weeks and no complications, just more tired each pregnancy (I have also breastfed each baby 18 months or more meaning nursing through first trimester) and bit more pubic pain each time. Though a girdle/support belt or wrap help immensely with the pubic bone pain.

Now that I am 35 going on 36, I was trying to find videos on plus sized and "geriatric". I can not find any, but I see many commenters who were/are ttc and, at the time of the comments were weirdly all 34 (so they are my age now just about), so one, i hope for the best and don't let people put you down about your age now that you crossed the magical border age, So, two: if anyone of you did get pregnant, congrats! and.. do you have any advice or things to say about being plus sized and geriatric? I have my 3rd at home pregnancy test positive, I am looking into a doctor for my first appointment, so any advice or information, I would love. I am nervous, but also, because of this video, I am trying to be as positive as possible, but balancing the risks of also being older is getting in my head.

Last pregnancy I came in and i was around 8 weeks and the nurse said “Oh my, well you’re not going to have a bigger belly than this.” I was 75kg (165lbs) and 163cm(5’3) ish. OF COURSE I GOT BIGGER. But my insecure 19 year old mind really believed this nurse and Inwas so anxious about seeing doctors after that meeting when my belly grew bigger.
I am a much stronger person today and I will definitely not tolerate that today but god,…I am still so nervous and so scared about what they will say. Today I am 209lbs which is morbidly obese here, and I really really hope they will treat me like a human. New city and new location so hopefully they are better here..

That's awesome! Gestational diabetes is a placenta problem, not necessarily a weight connection. But yay for healthy pregnancy!

This is a great topic that you don’t hear about that often! I had that issue when they measured my fundal height. And I wanted to say “duhhh! How is my belly (which has always been chubby) measure the same as a woman who had a flat belly before pregnancy!” They sent me for an extra infrasound just to be safe and we’re all good as I suspected. The most annoying issue has been trying to find plus size maternity clothing, there are a few places online, but not much offered in stores!

I loved this. I’m so scared because I’m so huge and diabetes and high blood pressure runs in my family. & my doctor definitely did judge me off the jump and I’ll be switching. Thank you

I know this video is a bit older however this is my first pregnancy where I have been plus sized... First pregnancy in 14 years... My concern is when will I be able to hear baby boys heartbeat on the Doppler? I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant and weigh 247 at 5'7" tall I dzo have GD and high blood pressure and just wondering if I'll hear my baby at my appointment in a few days I have had several ultrasounds and heard it but was told by a friend I won't hear it til closer to 20 weeks ....that makes me nervous and sad since with my girls I heard at 11 weeks.... Idk this video was amazing thanks for all your kindness and support 😊

You’re video is awesome! Thank you. Always seeing ladies who are not plus size make videos! Nice to see a friendly face!
My partner and I have been together a little over 3 years. And have been having unprotected relations for 2 ish years. We haven’t been trying all that time until recently. It’s been 4 months and I’m still not pregnant. I don’t understand why. I’ve had every test done on me. My periods have been regular for about 8 months now. Which is very surprising. And we do the deed all the time.
I’m just so sad and I cry all the time. I’m losing hope. Everyone around me is having kids and or getting married. I really cannot take it no more. And I don’t have no one to talk to besides my partner. But he doesn’t really understand!
I’m plus size. 32 years old. I’m lost. I don’t know what to do. I know it’s not long for trying. But it does get frustrating. I know other ladies have been trying more longer then months.
I’m sorry if this sounds winey. Much respect to those who have a long journey!

Sadly, no. Just wasn’t meant to be. We are also no longer together. I am now a single person and currently attending school to help better my life. Chose a different path for life now. Also I think I’m premenopausal now. Hot flashes galore. 🥵🥵🥵
Parenthood just wasn’t in the cards.

      It’s because you are obese.
It’s selfish to get pregnant before losing the weight.
You obese women aren’t thinking about the baby.

i'm sorry you are going through this right now. a close friend of mine has been told that she can't have children. it upset her for many years.. then she started having symptoms, she thought she was really sick, got really freaked out. turns out she was pregnant! now she already has 3 children, all very healthy and the pregnancies went well too, although she was around 120 kg, at a hight of 160cm, which is considered obese in medical perspective. don't lose hope, just try to not stress and have fun in life

Ashley Garcia everyone tells me to lose weight myself I’m 5 foot 4 and I weigh 220 I hate it but I’ve struggled with my weight since I was little no matter what I do but all my friends have been small during their pregnancies so I’m worried I won’t get pregnant unless I lose weight

Don't always listen to everyone that says lose weight and you will get pregnant. I am 280 pounds, my husband and I have been trying for 5 years and I never got pregnant once. I found out after being referred to a fertility clinic around year 3 that I have 1 completely blocked fallopian tube and 1 tube that is narrow and weak and my chances of conceiving naturally are slim to none even if I was 120 pounds. So lose weight and just relax would not have helped me. Lose weight if you want to for health, but if your not getting pregnant make sure you find a doctor that will listen to you and really investigate what is going on beyond your weight.

Both my pregnancies were perfect and wonderful and actually very easy! I am super happy though that after a twin loss a few years ago, I knew the weight was certainly a factor. If you are on a low carb diet consistently, your chance of failing the 1 hour test is very good. You can talk with your doctor about refusing the glucose test and just monitoring your blood sugar levels like a diabetic for a week. Next month I will be 35 and I will be TTC pretty soon, as I have since November lost 80 pounds and am within 20 pounds of my goal weight. I now have age as another factor against me, but I have a great doctor I trust in my corner who is willing to work with me.

I have a 40 BMI , 5ft 3 in 230 lbs for all 4 of my babies I didn't have or get diabetes. My friend who lived with me during her pregnancy ended up having it & she is a foot shorter & 60lbs lighter than me. It was hard for her because she is Latina& had to cut out all the yummy carbs. I really missed making all the tamales she couldn't eat anymore

I started at 170, I'm 190 and at 17 weeks. I've sat down and I only eat 1950 calories bc the 2120 for my second trimester had me gain 9 pounds in a week n a half. Its frustrating.. Now I focus on nutrition v.s calories and I feel better than I have in forever and I am not going to look at the scale any longer. If I am eating nutrient rich foods then it shouldn't matter right?
