Better than Crystal Skull, do really enjoy this one. Give it a try.
First watch: hated it
Second watch: liked it
Third watch:loved it
First watch: loved it, thought "What on earth are these people hating so much? This is a wonderful movie."
7th watch: "Okay, I guess I can see what they're complaining about but I still don't agree. There are a few things that I would change but I still love this movie. The haters are being silly."
I have now seen this movie more times in 5 months than I have seen Crystal Skull in 15 years. I think it's a legitimately great movie. I don't get the vociferous criticism. It's unwarranted.
I sorta regret not watching this in theaters since i let the reviews influence me
always push through and see a movie u originally wanted to see. ive made this mistake too many times but in the past 3 years i want to see it i will see it regardless of the reviews...case in point : Ghostbusters frozen empire. i appreciate critics and i have 7 i look at the reviews. i still go in hoping to be entertained and time well spent. afterall thats the point of cinema.
Is the movie as good as the original trilogy? No. But it is better than the Crystal Skull. I enjoyed it.
I agree with your take on the movie almost word for word. Everything after the original trilogy feel less like additional entries in the series and more like silly parodies of Indiana Jones, that happen to star Harrison Ford. This just reminds me why I'm so glad the studios haven't tampered with the Back to the Future franchise.
I completely agree with you on everything about how they handled Indy in this new film and about the bland side characters. Tired of seeing our legacy characters growing up to have miserable life’s and being cranky and depressed. The movies plot just didn’t work for me either.

I opened and played my EQUALIZER 3 UHD 4K the other night after receiving it as an early holiday gift, and the trailers on the disc didn't play back in HDR - which is weird for a Sony release.
Can you check to see if this does this on your copy? Id appreciate it.

Since the previous Steelbooks were released in white and then in black with movie poster art, I have no idea why they chose artwork that is inconsistent with the prior Steelbook releases.
I previously bought the black Steelbooks with the movie poster art and I wish I had that option here but I ended up getting this Steelbook since I have doubts as to whether they’d release other variations especially since all the major retailers are pulling out of physical media.
I had extremely low expectations for this film since I didn’t enjoy Crystal Skull and feel that the franchise should have ended as a trilogy on a high note. I have to say that I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. My film rankings for this franchise are: 1) Last Crusade, 2) Raiders, 3) Dial of Destiny (barely edged into this slot), 4) Temple of Doom and 5) Crystal Skull.
Can’t get it in Australia, and for that matter can’t find Titanic 4K here too. Bad luck will look at importing! Wonder if it’s available in Bali?
Okay here's the deal I'm 18 and I love this movie and I love Indiana Jones I believe that it's not the fact that young people can enjoy this movie it's the fact that most of them refuse to watch anything that they haven't seen before or franchise are not familiar with which is very upsetting This was a great movie and anybody who says otherwise obviously doesn't know to just have a good time even if it doesn't match up to the other Indiana Jones films it's not about that it's about the simple fact it's a good movie with the Indiana Jones character I saw nothing wrong with the movie The special effects were great even the CGI people are so picky nowadays like it's just a movie to sit down and enjoy one last time for Harrison Ford and y'all can't even accept that so upsetting that people act like this I'm going to buy the 4K Blu-ray I also did see it in theaters and when it comes back in theaters I'm going to watch it again I have all the other movies on 4K Blu-ray This is a great film and anybody who says otherwise doesn't know anything about Indiana Jones, hasn't seen it, or wasn't paying attention or just don't care about that kind of film or franchise.
You’re 18, please let me impart some wisdom to you. First, punctuation is your friend. Second, all film is subjective. All film. When you say things like “this is a great film and anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know how to have a good time” that just isn’t true. It would be like me saying “Anyone who doesn’t like Titanic doesn’t believe in love”
I appreciate your enthusiasm but if you are a film fan like you seem, open up your self perspective and realize that because a film works for you, it doesn’t for everybody and that’s ok.

I'll respectively disagree with Adam in regards to the movie itself. I first saw it on Apple TV streaming before it went to Disney Plus and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Harrison Ford may be 81 now but he can still bring it in the signature role. I had no problem with Phoebe playing an alternating black hat/white hat and overall felt that the script was pretty good. It was nice to see Mads MikkeIsen in a villain's role that suited him far better than the one he played in the last Fantastic Beasts movie. I would put Dial third behind Last Crusade and Raiders. I have never liked Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull was okay but not one that would merit multiple repeat views. I've now seen Dial of Destiny twice (and the 4K release is terrific) and enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first time around.
I agree with you all the way. Compared to the other Indiana Jones movies I thought that The Dial of Destiny was boring and not worth watching again unlike the other ones which were.
I really wanted the steel book just to finish the set but Best Buy in Canada doesn’t seem to want to offer it, so I will have to get the regular release I guess. Frustrating.
I'm 41, grew up watching these franchises and completely understand the criticism. But I wonder if our rejection of the latest sequels (or prequels or whatever...) of our beloved franchises are purely based on how cynical our generation has become. I mean even the star wars prequel trilogy started to resurface and be appreciated by the generation that grew up on them. Of course you could argue that today's star wars fans only like star wars whereas the older generation of fans were film fans first and then star wars fans second. The same applies to Indy fans, I guess. In perhaps 10 years or so, Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny will probably be regarded differently...

My point is that every generation has its own sensibilities and worldviews and when hollywood tries to update old franchises it wants to reach as many demographics it possibly can. This almost certainly leads to a confusing product that does not speak to anyone in particular. Neither Crystal Skull nor Dial of Destiny are necessarily bad movies. For me they are simply inferior takes on a franchise that carries a lot of weight and expectation. PS: had to look up who Charlie Kirk was and still did not get the reference...

Same here! I'm a huge Indiana Jones van but I didn't like the new movie at all. I even became a bit upset of it because how bad it was.
Wait till you get older you will get it more. Try pushing your late sixties. I really enjoyed the film. The first 30 minutes were awesome.

I bought the steelbook to go with the others in my set. It had its moments, but wasn’t as good as the first three films, much better than Crystal Skulls though.
I loved this movie (and really hated Crystal Skull). I thought this movie was much more faithful to the original trilogy than Crystal Skull. Indy is one of my all time favorite characters and thought this was a good send off for him. Although I didn't love Phoebe or her sidekick, I did love the back in time idea of just one moment in time that they could travel to and Indy wanting to stay there. Part of me really wanted him to stay there and be happy that his dream came true...
I saw it on Disney plus and I can see why you did not care for it. The picture on Disney plus was not all that good and I am trying to decide to buy it or not just to say I have it. I might just wait til it is on sale to add to my collection because I do have the Crystal Skull and that was bad
We all have our own taste in movies...movies are to enjoy and not to dissect and find flaws...just be happy studios are still trying to make epic adventures movie rather than low budget horror movies...just sit and enjoy the movies...not all movies are perfect and blame it on our new society why movies are now made to satisfy our new society...

I watched it for the first time last night. From a purely technical aspect the craft of filmmaking was on point. Mangold made a good “film.” However on first viewing it seemed lifeless to me. A touch boring. Even tho all the appropriate action beats and plot points were hit correctly. The sense I got was as if someone replicated the Mona Lisa to the last detail. It’s beautiful and shows skill, but brings nothing new to the world. Mangold doing Spielberg isn’t has interesting has Mangold doing Mangold. The modern sensibility was slightly annoying as well plus it really should have been called Geriatric Jones.
Main reason this movie disappoints me was too many un-lovable characters & hardly any iconic Indy theme till end. Somehow enjoyed Crystal Skull better now except for few scenes, ie fridge & Tarzan. My childhood hero sad ending

Better than crystal skull. I liked this movie more than I expected. Not the best but not as bad as everyone was making it out to be. But watching on D+ is enough vs buying
Yea. No. As excited as I was to have a watch, this was not it. Curtain call for Mr. Ford and his appearance should have been strategically placed cameos. A new generation using Indy as a guide would have been fantastic. Its pretty difficult to see an elder running to/fro with the bad guys.

Having watched The Woman King, it does have its story issues but I ended up giving it a good rating. My issue with Dial of Destiny doesn’t solely rest on my dislike of PWB, as I stated in my vid.
