Your content is probably some of the best on UA-cam right now. Thank you so much for all of your videos.
Thank you :) It's with great pleasure!
I’m watching this 3 years later, still the best content on UA-cam
Dude went from 100,000 to 350,000 subscribers by the time he finished this video. KEEP IT UP PAUL!
Zach Tynes That shows how much time it takes to create a video 😉

Wow, thanks for all the lovely comments everyone :)
I'm a time traveler from the future, you definitely have over 1M subs.
Tank YOU, Paul.
I love your lessons videos.
You deserve all good things😊
cheers, from Brazil 🎸🎤💔
Hi Paul. Again: thanks for all your videos. In case you didn't know Carlos Vamos, here is a video. It's old and the competition is long gone. His playing is very melodic even though tapping, to me, usually comes off as a gimmick.

Hey Mr. Paul. What about the second part of the song? I noticed when I was listening to it that it was a little different. Are you gonna be doing a second part?
I watched this video at least 20 times in different years. Today I finally made it, I can (almost) play “who says”.
Thank you Paul, you’re awesome!
I'm really thankful for your content, you seem so humble and your videos are really well made. I hope you all the best!
After watching your John Mayer videos, it's amazing what I've accomplished. I've only been playing for two years, but I've nearly got Stop this train and Who Says down. Thank you very much! Thought it'd be years before I could reach this level!
I'm a big fan of John Mayer's playing style and technique, which is great to listen to... but not so great to learn!
No....no it is not. Feels sloppy and frustrating. It's not pleasant to play or listen to when you keep hitting unintended strings with the slap, or hitting the bass notes instead of muting when slapping. I don't want to give up though. John mastered this technique after hundreds of hours, so...
@@larsfaye292 yeah especially with neon 😅 how’s it going for you so far?
@@scott9200 I practised Neon for 1 hour daily for weeks until it just clicked, I thought that meant I could tackle anything then just found this video... the idea of doing the slap with my thumb while hitting another string with my index finger at the same time seems completely alien to me O.o
I usually play don't stop this train after finishing the first loop of this song. It goes together really well
How i wish ALL your tutorial like this!
With tabs/chords shapes on screen for free!
Thanks alot, been really struggling on stop this train, because of the 4-fret strech. So really nice being able to play this! Hope you keep going to the 1.000.000.
The quality of this lesson is simply incredible.
i've been playing this non-stop for the last week or so. definitely the most difficult part is making those little licks in the chorus sound nice, especially while singing at the same time. great video. thank you
"Yes we are on a first name basis". You are awesome Paul.
Watching this now, hearing you out. Then I watched down and a million was found. You are a masterpiece sir!
This is awesome! Learned so much about guitar from watching John on youtube. Now I'm taking lessons, and my (amazing!) teacher pointed me to your videos. I move away next month, and am planning to sign up for your Patreon when I do, since my lessons will be ending. Congrats, and thanks, Paul! Generous folks like you make this crazy world a much better place.
3.28 million subscribers, now, Paul! Great work. Thanks for all that you do!!
Forgot how to play this song, went back to this video after 2 years... remembered why I subscribed to you all this time ago
You teach the thumb slapping technique so clearly. Thank you so much!
You should absolutely do more tutorials
thank you so much paul! , this song was my dream, now I can play it because of you ( not completely there yet, but yes ...)
I’ve learned an incredible amount of what I play on the guitar from you. You deserve all the subscribers in the world. You’re informative, interesting, and fun. Thanks for all you’ve taught me, and I can’t wait for more!
Thanks a lot man !
This tutorial is perfect, you are right the most difficult part of the riff is the patern but when you get done it’s not to hard 😊
It's been 4 years since this video, and now you have more than 2 million, so great!
I think I’ve got this song down pretty good, but I could never explain it the way you do. Awesome as ever!
I have discovered new songs that I love since watching your videos. I love your finger style tutorials the best. Congratulations and let's hit 1 million!!
Congrats my man. Everyone can be a guitar player but very few have the gift to be a gifted musician. And that is what you are. I thank you for sharing your love of music
Paul is a Star , Now if we could just get him to sing !
J... ( Toronto )
Congratulations, Paul, you deserve It. Greetings from Brazil.
I FINALLY GOT IT THANK YOU PAUL
Took me a couple weeks to finally get the slap to sound good but definitely worth the daily practice. Your videos are the best 👏🏼
Here I am watching and subs at 1.94M. Happy to see you grow. This is actually the song that made me start learning guitar since it sounded so good with the mix of singing/playing. I finally got the courage to learn it and thank you for the amazing video on it.
Cheers Paul.

You are a great player and a great instructor. You explain everything piece by piece which makes it so much easier! Awesome tutorial!
"A million subscribers may seem a long way of right now, but it's closer than you think"... just watching this again now and wow, a bit more than a year later you are real close to this landmark. Just a blink do the 900k. Congrats!
You deserve it Paul, your channel is very interesting and useful. Greetings from Argentina!
Congratulations...I liked your tutorial on Yellow by Coldplay and this one is even more amazingg...Liked the fact that you're using sheet music to show the chords which is the actual way of learnig music!!Keep up the good work Bro!!🤗🤗🤗
You're my favourite UA-cam channel and you always inspire me to keep practicing. Never stop making videos!
One of the most well deserved play buttons ever handed out. It won’t be long until the gold one arrives.
June 1, 2019 and you’ve got 1 million more. Solid trajectory man, keep up the great content!!
And 6/7 months later.. over 500k thumbs up paul!
Congratulations man, a just reward for your work in enlightening our civilisation!
It was really cool seeing you get your 100k subs plaque, then realising you’re nearly at 3million!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have been waiting for this video for a while! Thank you so much. Congratulations on getting the Play Button!
This is by far the best tutorial on youtube, these videos are awesome! I just learned and posted a cover of who says thanks to this video! It would mean the world if Paul saw it! Thanks for the videos man
Perfect timing!! I’m actually learning this song right now! Thank you for this, please do more!! :))
have you learn it now?
The best guitarist youtuber ! tuto rich and clear. Don't change ! congratulations
Поздравляю с наградой. Ты её заработал честно, за талантливую работу с аудиторией.
Your videos are really well done and sound like the original recording. A lot of people play this song completely wrong. Great work! One song I have struggled with and would love for you to do is John Mayers acoustic version of Something Like Olivia. His style is very hard to figure out and the solo's are even more complex! Thanks again!
Congrats on 2 million subs!!!
Key: Just at the finish of the 2nd bar, you really have to get the Em7 shape there and ready. The tab doesn't show it (but Paul does), having that index finger placed on the D-string second fret, and already there for the 3rd beat of the third bar makes all of this doable. Took me several days to finger this out.
yea i was really confused by his tab. it doesnt match with what he's playing and it's really frustrating
I really admire the attitude you play the music and what you are in the video. The solid technique based guitar playing and insist play things right. Makes me wanna sit back and practice properly instead of complete a song not that pricise.
Many thanks from Taiwanese :)
Damn it Paul, I got here randomally for the first time. It's midnight and now i have to go through EVERYTHING that you're doing...
Oh yeah, I remember this moment. It seems like such a long time ago. Well I’m just now getting around to wanting to learn this one. Thanks as always.
You must be so proud to have almost 3 million subscribers now man. My best wishes brother. Thanks from my heart for what you do :)
D-42 is awesome, I own a D-35 but not have fallen in love with the snowflake inlays watching your videos. Keep up the good job man!
Congratulations my man! Your content is original and you seem like a pretty grounded and genuine guy. You deserve it. Please keep it up!
Hier heb ik lang op gewacht! Iemand die de chorus van dit nummer perfect uitlegt! Bedankt!
Mare, just came across this lesson actually searching for something different on your channel - 100K back in Oct. 2017 - Today January 2019 you are just one step away from 1.000.000 subscribers as predicted by UA-cam it was a long way but not as long as you may thought? Keep up the great work!
you've made me enjoy playing guitar to another level and you have helped me a lot, being skillful with the guitar is one thing but you play it with passion man and that's what I love about your channel, keep it up bro
I've been hacking away at this for a couple of weeks now, almost got it thanks. Amazing watching the subs total as I return again and again to this video to bite off another line of tabs. Every time I update the screen there's like 7k new subs!!!! Happy for you mate, what a rollercoaster ride it must be for you. I subbed when you had about 5k ha ha
Congrats Paul! So very well deserved. You're the best, by far.
Congrats Paul Davids! Your channel is really amazing! Thank you for your professional, kind and always awesome work. Greetings from Italy.

Many congratulations bro!!! God bless you and keep up the excellent and good work!!! 🙏
Thanks Paul for the patience of teaching us the whole song. I apreciate it 🙏🙏🙏
Look where are u now,so happy for u
So good to this this since being one of the subscribers below 100k
Woah, your channel had grown so much since then... Paul, you deserve so many more subs and your passion in every video is so inspiring to me...
Absolutely great tutorial. You really make it seem so easy. Almost have the whole thing down. Once I do, it’ll be such an accomplishment. Thank you again this is wonderful.
Man that guitar sounds so lovely!
Your tutorials are very helpful. Continue the good work
Thank you so much for continuing your channel and bringing more tutorials. Thank you for incorporating music theory into them as well. I'm a one year guitar player and only had a beginners class education (which was amazing and fun), but I wish I had the opportunity to go to college for music after my class senior year. i wasn't able to go to college this year right after I graduated, but maybe next year I'll be able to since my current situation isn't letting me focus on school. For now I'll stick to reading old sheet music and trying to understand music theory from your tutorials and some research of my own. Also, Comgrats on your milestone! I hope you read this and if not, It's alright with me. Keep playing whoever reads this!
Thank you Paul for helping and inspiring me to improve my guitar playing. Congratulations on your UA-cam award - you deserve it for the quality product you put out with such positive vibes - love ya man!
축하합니다. 고생한 보람이 있네요. 좋은 강의 항상 감사해요.
I remember watching this video when I discovered Paul's channel, he was already somewhere near 400k. He's now at 2.6 Million and has made me and many other people improve a lot our guitar playing, both through YT and his courses. Got my first acoustic yesterday, I'm going to take a stab at learning this today. Thanks for everything Paul.
EDIT: after about a week I think I got it pretty much down, I only need to work on consistency and getting the tempo exactly right, but for now it's been an incredible journey. Not a bad song to have in my repertoire, especially as my first acoustic guitar song! Now on to truly master it and then learn how to sing along, which I think will take some years :)
Have been waiting for months for this to come out! Thank you so much. Soon you'll eventually reach 1 mil!
Congrats, by far the best music/guitar channel on youtube. keep it up!
I hope to see another video when your reach a million subs! One of the best channels on UA-cam. Please may you do more John Mayer songs! I would love for you to teach neon.
Congrats! You have excellent quality content and totally deserve that button!Keep it up!
Thanks for the awesome video! I found it quite difficult to slap different strings with my thumb because I would accidentally ring other strings. Now I just slap the E string every time and it works good for me! Hopefully this helps other people who are struggling with the slap technique.
THANK YOU. I think this is where I'm constantly struggling. If I focus on just the E string, that simplifies it greatly. Great tip. I can always move on to trying to slap/mute others once I got the rhythm down (definitely the hardest part)
Really good teacher man. Keep getting better, cheers!
Although I play keyboards, your compelling guitar teaching style is inspiring me to play strings *and* is giving me ideas to carry over to my synthesizer.
Thank You! Such a good teacher!✨
love when i see your name when i look for a tutorial !!
I actually found that "Mayer slap" on my own when I was leaning blackbird by Paul McCartney. It just naturally started to happen :)
This guy is teaching us like we already know how to play it
If you watch all of his videos then you know that his channel is meant for advanced level players. Just be grateful dude that he's giving us free lessons. Btw if you want beginner friendly tutorial then check out with marty and justin :)
Amirul Syazani preach, brother
Congratulations Paul! I'm a big fan of your channel. Keep it going!
I know I'm 4 years late, but thank youuuu! this has helped me immensely
Lol. 100,000 subscribers. close to 2.0m now :) Well done Paul, well deserved!
Congrats! on the award... well-deserved, f'sure :) ...and o'course, the lesson is a treat. Good Luck! on getting to the 1M subbies :)
"Who says” is probably one of the first John Mayer's song I learnt to play on acoustic guitar.
Congratulations Paul!!!!
Thanks for this tutorial! You really deserve 100k and more, congrats!
Hey Paul! Congratulations! Sincerely, I expected you to have some kind of award from You Tube. First of all because you deserve it. In my opinion, you make the difference in the way you develop your videos, and in the content of them all. So, keep on going the way you're doing it and ENJOY your Silver button!!!👍👍👍😸😸😸
You deserve it man! Such great content
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Great videos, content, clear explanations and always very entertaining Paul!
