Hi, just wondering how did you attach the alternator with the engine if you have video. Awesome build. And what Alternator did you use? can you share the link plz.
I saw someone else on here who modified his push mower to be autonomous. He used a Cube Orange Plus micro-controller and a GPS receiver. Could be a neat upgrade for this
Just one suggestion… Put some FUSES at the battery and alternator. I basically made the same one except for bigger tires and some extra features. But they all work the same. Nice job….
How steep of a hill can you mow? You mentioned it is underpowered but is that speed or torque? I have very steep land, too steep to safely mow, and don't want to get my project complete only to find out I need more torque. To get more traction you might think about running some short lag bolts into the rubber spaced out evenly, assuming they are solid tires.
I have a pretty steep hill in my backyard but have not been able to test it because the deck is too low. I did not put enough height adjustment on it so the frame needs to be taller off the deck. The mower definitely has the torque to mow the hills because it is light and the motors are from a power chair that hauls very large people around. The wheels that I used are too slick, so when the deck starts dragging in thicker grass, the wheels just spin. This definitely has some initial design flaws, lol, but I have not had the time to get back to it.
Correct. The push mower coil is basically already set up that way with the lever that you have to hold against the push handle to be able to crank and keep the mower running. There should be the spark plug wire and then one small wire running out of the ignition coil. That small wire is how you ground the coil and kill the spark. The way a push mower typically works is that small wire is run to a flywheel brake that grounds and stops the engine instantly. I disabled my flywheel brake so when I kill my engine, the blade continues to spin until it stops.
This is the exact one I ordered. It’s a cheaper version of the Sabretooth 2x32. I have no affiliation with Amazon. PN00218-CYT14 Cytron Motor Driver... www.amazon.com/dp/B07V692RFS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Hello, They use 24 volt motors but 12 volts brings enough power? What type of engine do you use??? I'm currently building an RC lawn mower But my problem is the motors bzw the drive shaft
@@SawdustandSparks Thank you for your quick response but with 12 volts there is enough power for the drive? is 45 AH enough for approx. 30 minutes of work?
@sebastianspielerei6403 I am not sure if that would be enough power for 30 minutes of mowing. How heavy is the mower and how much power do the motors draw when being used? That will make a big difference in the length of time you have to use it but I am definitely no expert. I just like to make stuff, lol 🙂
24v is way better also Cut up a dirt bike tire screw it to the wheels it will give you grip how are you liking that motor controller? does it get hot? I ike how you did the mower cut off
The motor controller doesn’t get too hot because I can’t use it other than to play around with it. The frame needs be higher off of the mower deck so that I can get the mower deck higher off the grass. I made the deck height adjustable, but even with it all the way up, it is still not high enough so the deck drags in thicker grass and the slick wheels just spin. It’s perfect for a section of my yard that is very smooth Bermuda, but most of my yard is lumpy green clumps of mixed grass that only look good when they’re short, lol. I will get back to this mower soon and modify it. Thanks for the suggestion, it definitely needs a wheel upgrade.
Tractor supply has a battery for deer hunters it’s a no spill deep cycle 8ah 12v agm definitely good battery for 25 bucks (Edit) I’d probably get four batteries atleast
switching to 24v should increase torque, if the wheelchair had a higher peak torque than you are currently getting from the 12v. but you can never go over peak torque specs for a given electric motor. you can increase speed by increasing voltage, but at some point, you'll just be burning out the motor.
La idea del alternador esta muy buena..te felicito. Gracias por el vídeo
Love the alternator idea just done a DeWalt battery operated on a poulan pro deck works awesome love it
Great Build dude
Thank you

This detailed build video you mentioned coming out any time soon?
cool project, which electric motors did you use?
The motors came from an old power chair that I cut up. I think the brand was Jazzy.
So funny and cool 😎
Love it and would play all day with it
It is fun to use, I just need to get it a little higher off the ground and get some tires with better grip.
Nice I like alot. What positions did you set th dip switchs on the motor driver? Thanks in advance!
Could you use wiper motors instead?
I am not sure if they would be strong enough but that’s a good suggestion. I will definitely look into it because they are cheap in junkyards

So you just grounded the coil to the frame directly to make your shutoff?

Hi could you tell me what motor driver you used?

The 24 volt motors will run on 12 volts but they will operate much better with 24 volts. The gas engine is just a push lawn mower engine.

Thanks. I will check them out. This lawnmower definitely needs some upgrades.
Should use a steering servo and steering setup for front wheels on V2, would help with keeping straight lines

Wasn’t this in honey I shrunk the kids
It was. That was way back in ‘89. Dang I’m getting old!
