This is why I bought the YS640s over a year ago. It is the most versatile grill/smoker that I could find and built in my home state of Kansas. Tom you are the main reason I bought it was watching your videos inspired me to step up my game. Go big or go home! Best investment ever.
I really need to buy this Yoder pellet smoker/grill. I love the access door on the defuser plate. This Yoder has everything all other grills don’t have
Literally one of the main reasons I went down there to ATBBQ here in Wichita was because the Yoder is a great smoker but with that ability to hit high flame temps and I was able to completely get rid of my propane grill. Haven't looked back since.
I had to buy a napoleon propane grill after my YS640s because the Yoder isn’t nearly as easy to use as a grill. You can do it, but you have to completely clean the grill before and after so that it doesn’t catch on fire or just sit there burning everything that landed on the diffuser plate. With a propane grill, you don’t have to clean out the whole grill every time you use it, only the grates. On the Yoder, cooking directly over the fire also makes a big mess in the fire box and around it. I only use the YS640s as a smoker now
@@Duramaxjon This simply isn't true. You are lying. Or you have no idea how to properly use your grill. My guess? You don't even own a Yoder. Just here as a Troll. Your entire comment is garbage and again, simply untrue.
I got my YS640 in February of this year and I am absolutely loving this grill! It is extremely versatile and just fun to cook on. Still have a few things to try on it, and this is coming up shortly.
Thanks Chef Tom. Great video. I've got a Rec Tec (which I love), but I wish I had the versatility of the direct flame grilling. I also grill 4 to 5 times a week like you
Thanks Tom for another fun video but my Pit Boss Austin XL gives me the option of direct flame grilling over the fire pot, as do several other pellet cookers. You could acknowledge that as you demonstrate the way to utilize that feature on the Yoder.
Not sure what that stands for? If it's the egg you need to get Yoder it's close to that price anyway. Egg is made in Mexico..huh?? I have researched them all. Had a Traeger tin can bought during COVID and it never worked right for instance Everytime I did a cook for longer than 30 mins it would cut off. China makes most of these terrible cheap rusted grills in which will cause you to keep buying one every so often.I gave it away a year ago redoing my Patio to do a Yoder YS 640 pellet grill to drop it in. American made to last and the food looks outstanding! Never heard anyone who had one sag anything bad about it and they stand behind their product this is the only grill I will ever own. Never liked Propane to me tasted terrible charcoal is Carcinogens. Organic wood pellets are safe. Hope you choose right you get what you pay for. God's Blessings 🙏
@@RumandCook I just knew I'd eventually see you "lurking" around the ATBBQ page!! Big fan of your channel as well. You and chef Tom are definitely the reasons I finally pulled the trigger on getting the YS 640. Man, I freaking LOVE this grill! I've had it a week and already done a TriTip (amazing), a whole roasted chicken (wonderfully crispy skin and nice smoky flavor), Jerked center cut pork loin chops (so easy to clean this thing up afterwards!) and I've got a 5 pound standing prime rib roast going on this weekend. And ( I mean, you just have to, right?) got a 12 pound whole packer brisket in the deep freeze probably going on an overnighter next week!
The Yoder uses a bucket grease catch that can be lined with disposable foil liners. As far as Blackstone: they used to have a great grease catch, until they moved it to the rear. My old portable 17 inch has the catch at the front that is just a drawer you pull out. My newer 28 inch 2 burner: The catch is at the back, and is open to the elements. It fills with water when it rains. I have a metal fold down lid, but it doesn't cover the grease catch.

That's fantastic. Glad the videos helped you make the decision and that you’re loving your YS640s!

I love my Yoder for all of these reasons. Love your videos, too!

It’s awesome that you’re enjoying it so much! Thanks for watching.
Some tasty looking food there! 🍻

Chef Tom, please consider making Indian bread /Navajo tacos!! Tis the season!
Supper is SERVED!

Happy grilling! 🔥
Good video chef on your pellet grill to show how to direct grill. But charcoal/ wood fire is really the way to go.
The recteq dualfire is a great high heat pellet grill
you should also show using the grill grates upside down, I use em that way more often than not.

Are there any other smokers that can do the same?
Originally looking at a BGE, but the YS pellet’s grill has me thinking 🤔

What's your baffle position for those low and slow cooks?
factory setting works perfectly - 6" in from the right. 🍻

What do you do with all the grease on the griddle? Blackstone has a handy grease catch. Does Yoder?
