I saw the same bot in Wetlands since phase 1. Got around 30 people to report him, thinking we could report spam it until ban. As of right now, he moved to Hinterlands and the account is still botting.
This is why I always appreciate games that give you an update as to the result of your complaint. Heck, even Diablo Immortal will tell you "Thanks, we've banned that player." And that game is evil.
Not only are there many... MANY bots in the game but also there isn't a human doing tickets anymore. There was a great reddit post proving that and whenever you are in contact with the support you notice it yourself. Same on steam. They use a chatbot with few copy pasta's.
Nah they have humans, you just gotta weasel your way through the chatbots with some persistance and bad behaviour. A couple weeks ago had Two separate "bots" refuse me service until i got through to a human. Its not even necessarily bots, at my previous job we had Indian 1st line support guys who's job it was to just spam templates as a first response to any incoming tickets. its all for the "first response metrics", so the support team managers can show good graphs to their managers. It's also a way to deter absolutely moronic support tickets (a fair chunk of total tickets).
a friend got banned, because he gifted gold to a friend and gifted an item away. he only got bot replies and after 3 days he got another bot reply. they just don't care anymore has been 5 days
Everyone in the comments complaining, but yet I would say there are several things to consider: 1. The bots must be making money, or they would not be botting. 2. Someone, who is presumably human, is playing the game and buying gold from the bots regularly enough to make it well worth it for the botters. 3. Each bot is another 15 bucks per month, so each bot must be earning more than that on any given month. 4. If a person had 200 bots running, and made 15 a month plus at least 15 more in profit, they’d be earning a total of 6000 a month, or 3000 net profit excluding any electric/internet costs. 5. The solution here is obvious, they can merely ban all the bots, every week. This increases the amount they’d have to spend on new accounts, and drive down their profit margins. The only reason they have banwaves is to make sure they don’t stop botting, because blizzard can make money off the new accounts.
There are enough ways to see if some1 is actually a bot, especially as a gm (just putting an object in their way or teleporting him to another location to see how he will react for example). It wont "waste" much time, i guess putting some1 on the "bot hotspots" would be a very good idea for sure and it cant be "that expensive" to pay someone for that. But i think the problem is that blizzard wants to ban bots in waves since it makes it harder for botters to recover and get new accounts instead of just having to get 1 new account everyday. I think they should do both ways, since i feel like they have their automated systems to find many bots, but many others dont get detected and they dont even think about putting in some gms as "backup". They wouldnt even have to liveban them, they could just add the accounts to their list for the next banwave. And if its really that hard for blizzard as they said, they should send us some proof why exactly its hard... Just saying its hard to keep the game clean because they earn more money by botting with one char than they had to spend on it isnt enough of a reason for many people.
Buddy and I were just in the shimmering flats last night lvling "lvl32". The amount of bots was wild. So many level 40 hunters and warlocks. We killed as many as we could while we were there. easiest 40+ honor per kill.
Mass reporting is a HUGE problem. I got an account warning for hitting a tailoring macro 2x accidently and saying sorry after in trade. I appealed and the BOT reviewing the appeals just told me to look at the TOS. No action taken. Then they had the gall to send me a survey 🤣
Need a system where we earn gold from quests/killing monsters/ah but we can't trade gold/items from player to player or through the mail. If you want to sell something you put it on the AH and others buy your item from the ah. There's always ways to abuse a system but this would eliminate most forms of the current problem. There is no way to win this war against botters/gold buyers for good. We have to change the system we use. The only real inconvenience would be getting enchants which could be fixed with vellums and services like summoning/ports but that could be fixed as well. If we could just do a single test server with this type of setup for a couple months it would be interesting. Imagine how much money Blizz could save by not having to fight botters/buyers anymore and imagine the fun of a nearly pristine economy for the players.
Maybe implementing something similar to RuneScape random events. Where a suspected bot gets teleported to another area where they have to complete a task a bot can’t perform to be sent back would fix this?
You should check out Inferno bots man. Sirpugger did a vid on them. That's one of the hardest pieces of content in that game. You think botters can't program a random event thing? XD They have WoW mapped out like crazy.

All you have to do is ask the simple question to Google or Bing, or whatever search engine you want to find that you are mistaken. Also as I actually played back then I remember many instances of guild drama over someone getting perma-banned for doing exactly that. "Damn, we lost our main tank for the raid this weekend, perma banned for buying gold"
I accidentally posted my shards for 54 gold 99 silver. Instead of 54 silver 99 copper. I got a notification that my shards had sold. Then I was suspended for 2 weeks for buying gold. I went from upset that I was going to eat the deposits, to extract that I was going to get like 600 gold, to stunned I was suspended all in the course of an hour. I’m assuming it was an automated system to stop auction house gold traders. Be careful with your auction house postings.
It looks like all the bots that were on classic era botting in feralas have gone over to SOD. on era before sod launch you could go into either factions town in feralas and catch 1000s of bots per hour hearthing, then repairing at a vendor then flying into the sky and going to dire maul lol. I guess they aren't as blatant on SOD with openly fly hacking but it looks pretty similar.
Im pretty sure most of those complaints are true. There's no such thing as "tainted gold" people keep using this as an argument. You recieve gold inside a dungeon/raid, auto flag. You recieve a certain amount of gold in mail for free, auto flag.
I play on American servers here in the Pacific so quite often was online at 3am server time and week 2-4 of Phase 1 the bots were bad. I ran SFK abit at that time and used to see lines of mages in 5 man groups all lined up doing runs over and over again. They were also fishing for crates before Blizz nerfed their spawn rate.
I bought gold illegally one time in my WoW career, been playing since burning crusade, like tens of thousands of hours, and I got insta-banned the very same night. It was on WotLK classic, and they released a WoW token soon after lol They definitely do ban for it.
Hello Xar, dont know if their any chance that u read this but : like the man who said he got banned for sending himself golds, i took a 3 weeks ban for receiving golds from my guild ( which is my guild on woltk since 3 years ) with same names & everything. They said that i was buying gold & that i've been ban manually so it couldn't be a mistake. The 6 persons who sent me gold made a ticket, i did too, they told me that i was a liar & that i was abusing of my guildmates, and that if i opened a new ticket i'll be permanently ban. They said they will take gold & items back , and when i reconnected, nothing changed, i was still front of BFD with golds, items & consumms. Blizzard bans are fucked all the time... even back in the day it's been like this. It's worst now with w/e AI they use to try and filter bots. My 3rd account was banned for botting when I was doing a raid lmfao.... I open a ticket and by time it got reviewed- by 3day ban was already over lmfao.
My favourite thing, when the WoW forums were still a major place for people to chat and get Blue replies, was people going "I pwned this noob once in pvp and I got banned for griefing". And then a Blue will reply reply "so here are the logs where you camped this player for 4 hours and called them the N word over and over".
Hear this story: my mate plays a rogue. And he has herbalism. He did pick a lot of flowers infront of other ppl that fighted a mob to get the flower. Quite often they whisper him shit like "go f*ck you" etc. So he doesn't respond. Pick the flower first, get the flower - that's his way to go. Nearly a week ago he got disconnected while gaming, tried to log in and hat a 14 days BAN on his account. He opened a ticket because he had no idea what caused his ban and he was pretty pissed - understandable. So after 6 days waiting for a response to his ticket a GM wrote him. GM told him people said he was botting - he didnt replie in chat and he always picked from stealth (whatever that supposed to mean?!) so he got banned for botting. He was like "yeah I mean... I didnt? Don't you have any program that can check if I botted or not?!" and they were lika "you know, we dont lift the ban. CU". So, he didnt use a bot. They didn't check it, they can tell if he did or didnt and they gave a absolute FUCK about his 14 day Ban. He just sits there...waiting for the 14 days to be done. The same happened to me - just way "smaller": in SoM I attacked a raid on his way to MC. I managed to bomb some. Not even a minute later I got disconnected from the game and when I tried to log back in it said I have a 23hr ban. Turns out the raid just reported me for something and the game automatically did a 24hr ban on me. I opened a ticket. A few days later a GM wrote me and was like "Yeah true, there was no reason to ban you for 24hrs. You didnt do anything wrong. But the ban is over already so whatever." and thats it. I got banned for 24hrs without doing anything wrong and there was nothing I couldve done ...
The sad thing is companies like blizzard DO have ways to detect 3rd party programs, even though its a rat race with detecting them vs them evading detection. They could have followed up with a manual investigation and seen your friend was legit, just being slightly rude, which is fine.
Fake story, you do not get 14 days for "botting" you get perma'd, when someone mass reports you for botting, they have systems in place to get authenticity, if you think it is as simple as that he did not reply to someone i have a beach house in idaho i'd like to sell you. The automated 24 hour ban sucks, it has happened to me personally and it is shitty that they use an automated system for rename reports, and that they immediately give you a 24 hour ban for it.
People try to make up fake bans to get the community angry at any kind of bans but those people are the ones doing the bad stuff that gets banned so they want to make the community try to get on their side.

They had so many bots running SFK, just fly hacking rogues taking chests because it’s hard to see. And that’s not including every other bot run we’ve seen when server restarts and alll the bots collectively run through their script. then now they have an easier run through stocks, it’s even worse. Bliz isn't banning bots manually because they come back within minutes, if not seconds, there's no point to doing it. Think if it as using a spoon to bail water out of a sinking boat, the end result is basically the same as doing nothing. So instead, they're studying how they work, and trying to find a way to 'plug the hole' so they don't come back. It takes time to figure out how to do that without also impacting actual players. But yes, the core of the problem is the players funding this crap. If there was no market for it, there'd be no bots. I say go after the core problem, but then Bliz would have to be willing to lose some subs over it. I think they like sub money more than they like solving the issue of players doing rmt.
The only time they ban bots is to show the players that they ban bots. 1 bot pays for 20 subs thats worth 20 players subs. the greed is real with Blizzard. they need to the bots.
If you go to Hinterlands there's bots everywhere all hunters, same with parts of the barrens most hunters are bots if u watch them kill and skin they all take the same amnt of time between each pause of skinning and looting then instantly hunter's mark the next mob, if u walk up and hit a opposite faction hunter's pet 90% of the time they just first global mend pet instantly lmao
if your a rogue just get the drape of dismantling or the parachute cloak off the gnomer boss their super close in performance to that cape and they wont cost you and arm and a leg or take a year off your life from the stress of competing with bots on a rare spawn, that may not even drop the item you need lmao.
I got banned for 30days right before wotlk classic was coming out because I was killing mobs in AV begining cave. I appealed and got reduced to 9days and was never told reason why. My guess is that it was when I was in AV cave and I got mass reported because I doubt they would appeal if there was something with gold buyin and at the time there couldnt have been any evidence against me buyin gold anyway.
I see hunter bots even in remote areas of quests, all the same race, pet, gear with a keyboard mash of names. My friend said if I report one they could put 5x as many tickets against me, super lame.

No worries at all, gdkp ban will resolve this problem. If not then players having gold could be banned too. If there is no player with gold then botters will disappear.

Since none of these botters pay a monthly subscription, they don't care if one, two, or a thousand of their personal bots get banned; they make more and get them up to a useful level and put them back into play, all for free. 🤷♂️

I got Ban for 24h coz i got reported by ppl who was in que for ICC but they didnt specify are they looking for MS>OS raid or GDKP and when i was promoting my raid which is GDKP in LFG channel and wispering those ppl who qued i got ban for 24h. I replay to ban what rule i didnt follow and what rule i broke , and i asked is it against TOS to promote my raid asking in /wisper ppl who are QUED for that type of raid they said no its not against TOS and they unban me instant. That is my first and only ban i got playing wow over 16 years .

Also as I actually played back then I remember many instances of guild drama over someone getting perma-banned for doing exactly that. "Damn, we lost our main tank for the raid this weekend, perma banned for buying gold"

I accidentally posted my shards for 54 gold 99 silver. Instead of 54 silver 99 copper. I got a notification that my shards had sold. Then I was suspended for 2 weeks for buying gold. I went from upset that I was going to eat the deposits, to extract that I was going to get like 600 gold, to stunned I was suspended all in the course of an hour. I’m assuming it was an automated system to stop auction house gold traders. Be careful with your auction house postings.
It looks like all the bots that were on classic era botting in feralas have gone over to SOD. on era before sod launch you could go into either factions town in feralas and catch 1000s of bots per hour hearthing, then repairing at a vendor then flying into the sky and going to dire maul lol. I guess they aren't as blatant on SOD with openly fly hacking but it looks pretty similar.

I play on American servers here in the Pacific so quite often was online at 3am server time and week 2-4 of Phase 1 the bots were bad. I ran SFK abit at that time and used to see lines of mages in 5 man groups all lined up doing runs over and over again. They were also fishing for crates before Blizz nerfed their spawn rate.

I bought gold illegally one time in my WoW career, been playing since burning crusade, like tens of thousands of hours, and I got insta-banned the very same night. It was on WotLK classic, and they released a WoW token soon after lol They definitely do ban for it.
Hello Xar, dont know if their any chance that u read this but : like the man who said he got banned for sending himself golds, i took a 3 weeks ban for receiving golds from my guild ( which is my guild on woltk since 3 years ) with same names & everything. They said that i was buying gold & that i've been ban manually so it couldn't be a mistake. The 6 persons who sent me gold made a ticket, i did too, they told me that i was a liar & that i was abusing of my guildmates, and that if i opened a new ticket i'll be permanently ban. They said they will take gold & items back , and when i reconnected, nothing changed, i was still front of BFD with golds, items & consumms. Blizzard bans are fucked all the time... even back in the day it's been like this. It's worst now with w/e AI they use to try and filter bots. My 3rd account was banned for botting when I was doing a raid lmfao.... I open a ticket and by time it got reviewed- by 3day ban was already over lmfao.
My favourite thing, when the WoW forums were still a major place for people to chat and get Blue replies, was people going "I pwned this noob once in pvp and I got banned for griefing". And then a Blue will reply reply "so here are the logs where you camped this player for 4 hours and called them the N word over and over".
right now you can go to any zone in open world on any layer and find multiple multiple bots. Its really really bad atm and they are very blatant
Hear this story: my mate plays a rogue. And he has herbalism. He did pick a lot of flowers infront of other ppl that fighted a mob to get the flower. Quite often they whisper him shit like "go f*ck you" etc. So he doesn't respond. Pick the flower first, get the flower - that's his way to go. Nearly a week ago he got disconnected while gaming, tried to log in and hat a 14 days BAN on his account. He opened a ticket because he had no idea what caused his ban and he was pretty pissed - understandable. So after 6 days waiting for a response to his ticket a GM wrote him. GM told him people said he was botting - he didnt replie in chat and he always picked from stealth (whatever that supposed to mean?!) so he got banned for botting. He was like "yeah I mean... I didnt? Don't you have any program that can check if I botted or not?!" and they were lika "you know, we dont lift the ban. CU".
So, he didnt use a bot. They didn't check it, they can tell if he did or didnt and they gave a absolute FUCK about his 14 day Ban. He just sits there...waiting for the 14 days to be done.
The same happened to me - just way "smaller": in SoM I attacked a raid on his way to MC. I managed to bomb some. Not even a minute later I got disconnected from the game and when I tried to log back in it said I have a 23hr ban. Turns out the raid just reported me for something and the game automatically did a 24hr ban on me. I opened a ticket. A few days later a GM wrote me and was like "Yeah true, there was no reason to ban you for 24hrs. You didnt do anything wrong. But the ban is over already so whatever." and thats it. I got banned for 24hrs without doing anything wrong and there was nothing I couldve done ...
The sad thing is companies like blizzard DO have ways to detect 3rd party programs, even though its a rat race with detecting them vs them evading detection. They could have followed up with a manual investigation and seen your friend was legit, just being slightly rude, which is fine.

Fake story, you do not get 14 days for "botting" you get perma'd, when someone mass reports you for botting, they have systems in place to get authenticity, if you think it is as simple as that he did not reply to someone i have a beach house in idaho i'd like to sell you. The automated 24 hour ban sucks, it has happened to me personally and it is shitty that they use an automated system for rename reports, and that they immediately give you a 24 hour ban for it.

They had so many bots running SFK, just fly hacking rogues taking chests because it’s hard to see. And that’s not including every other bot run we’ve seen when server restarts and alll the bots collectively run through their script. then now they have an easier run through stocks, it’s even worse. And he’s downplaying 5k bots by counting them on his server and on his layer like it’s not that bad…. I’ve spent 30 minutes reporting bots and my mail is filled with those stupid mail from blizzard “thanking” me for doing my part… imagine if they actually were doing their part. Xaryu I love your content bro but plz, open your eyes lol.
Bliz isn't banning bots manually because they come back within minutes, if not seconds, there's no point to doing it. Think if it as using a spoon to bail water out of a sinking boat, the end result is basically the same as doing nothing.
So instead, they're studying how they work, and trying to find a way to 'plug the hole' so they don't come back. It takes time to figure out how to do that without also impacting actual players.
But yes, the core of the problem is the players funding this crap. If there was no market for it, there'd be no bots.
I say go after the core problem, but then Bliz would have to be willing to lose some subs over it. I think they like sub money more than they like solving the issue of players doing rmt.

If you go to Hinterlands there's bots everywhere all hunters, same with parts of the barrens most hunters are bots if u watch them kill and skin they all take the same amnt of time between each pause of skinning and looting then instantly hunter's mark the next mob, if u walk up and hit a opposite faction hunter's pet 90% of the time they just first global mend pet instantly lmao

if your a rogue just get the drape of dismantling or the parachute cloak off the gnomer boss their super close in performance to that cape and they wont cost you and arm and a leg or take a year off your life from the stress of competing with bots on a rare spawn, that may not even drop the item you need lmao.

I got banned for 30days right before wotlk classic was coming out because I was killing mobs in AV begining cave. I appealed and got reduced to 9days and was never told reason why. My guess is that it was when I was in AV cave and I got mass reported because I doubt they would appeal if there was something with gold buyin and at the time there couldnt have been any evidence against me buyin gold anyway.

I see hunter bots even in remote areas of quests, all the same race, pet, gear with a keyboard mash of names. My friend said if I report one they could put 5x as many tickets against me, super lame.

No worries at all, gdkp ban will resolve this problem. If not then players having gold could be banned too. If there is no player with gold then botters will disappear.

This is the inevitable result of a free-to-play system that relies on monetization in a shop to make a profit. Since none of these botters pay a monthly subscription, they don't care if one, two, or a thousand of their personal bots get banned; they make more and get them up to a useful level and put them back into play, all for free. 🤷♂️

I got Ban for 24h coz i got reported by ppl who was in que for ICC but they didnt specify are they looking for MS>OS raid or GDKP and when i was promoting my raid which is GDKP in LFG channel and wispering those ppl who qued i got ban for 24h. I replay to ban what rule i didnt follow and what rule i broke , and i asked is it against TOS to promote my raid asking in /wisper ppl who are QUED for that type of raid they said no its not against TOS and they unban me instant. That is my first and only ban i got playing wow over 16 years .

I also got banned for sending money to myself with two accounts. I tried over and over to get a hold of someone at blizzard to show it was true. I had the proof, but no one would listen. To be honest, it was the best thing they done, because I never touched their game again out of pure anger.
