Lock picking lawyer did a video on them a while back... any wireless security system suffers from the weakness that a cheap Chinese handheld radio transmitter will act as a jammer and prevent the system from functioning... and due to the nature of the radio link; wireless systems can’t detect that and trigger the alarm. Yes, operating the transmitter as a jammer is highly illegal, but they’re already criminals, and I don’t think a FCC fine is going to scare them.
Wired systems, properly engineered, don’t have this problem; as the main controller (and likewise the monitoring service) can assume that a loss of communication is due to an attack and trigger the alarm.

So happy to come home from surgery today and watch some TTWT! Broke several bones in my right foot last Tuesday riding dirt bikes on the mountain with our oldest son for his 17th bday. Longest trip I’ve ever had down the mountain. I overworked the hand brake, it got hot & I lost the hand brake coming down. Had surgery today and now the 2 month rehab process starts.

Nice tree take down! That Shelter Logic you and your wife moved with the tractor inside is why I bought mine! I figured if you can move a flimsy "shed" that way without falling apart that did it! Mine has been up about 2 years now to house my Cub Cadet , Self propelled lawn mower, snow thrower and a bunch of rakes. I call it my "Plastic Barn". I used scrap wood for a floor. And it's held up to several nor'easters with 90+ mph winds and several 14"+ inches of snow. Best Regards, Jay

About 20 years ago my wife and I moved to a home that had 137, 100 foot tall pines overhanging the house or within the strike zone of the house. I'm a tree climber so after 8 hours of felling and trimming I asked her to carry the Stihl 032 back to the garage. After she felt that weight of that saw she had a real healthy respect for the work I accomplish. On another property now, I still have her carry the saw at days end ;^)

You really should get a few of those plastic wedges. Not only are they good for felling, but also saving your back while bucking. On a large log sitting in such a way that you would pinch if cutting it from the top (and would otherwise have to pull the saw up through from the bottom), you can cut down just past the bar, place a plastic wedge in, and cut on down through without pinching.

Good job on knocking the tree down but here's a couple of suggestions when a tree needs to fall in a certain direction. DON"T cut close to the ground unless you're making lumber. Cut 24 - 30" up so you are more comfortable, can see what's going on and run quicker IF needed. You can cut close to the ground safely later. Put a tow strap as high as possible on the tree and put a 4 W.D. ( Tractor may be too slow ) vehicle in the direction you want the tree to fall with straps way exceeding height of tree landing. Put some tension on the strap and cut a deep notch that faces vehicle. Put more tension on the strap, leave vehicle running and cut backside of tree until you see it leaning and definitely stop if you hear a crack. Quickly pull it down with vehicle. Much easier with help but I'm Widowed and alone. 36'" dia. maple next to farm house went exactly as I planned between the corn crib and cattle fence. 6 - 50' tall pines landed exactly as planned, missing the power lines they could easily hit. Study the tree, plan well and never cut if there is any wind. Have a second saw on the ready just in case. Never have and never will use a wedge other than to keep saw from being pinched. Too unpredictable and too much work. Thanks for Simply Safe info which I'm thinking about and Bible verse. Great Video.

Tim, I proud of Christy for getting in there and cutting limbs. My ex would drag out limbs ( which I was glad for the help) but she would clear out anytime the saw was going to be used. She would not hardly carry a non-running saw. Of course if I was cutting something, cleared out was safest for her. Also, I have never had a battery saw, but until recent years the batteries did not last long enough to be helpful.

Tree limbing! You are both right and both wrong, LOL. My approach is to undercut about 1/4 of the limb then switch and cut from the top side for the remainder of the cut. That way your limb will normally brake off clean and not dangle by a sliver of bark. P.S. Love your videos, God Bless.

Always love seeing new barns put up. But the way i see it: its your house, yours rules, your way of living, you pay the yearly ransom (taxes), you put your equipment wherever you want, whenever you want, however you want and if folks don't like it, tell them not to be so nosey when they drive by. Or charge them a fee to look and comment about your equipment storage, to help pay for the new barn.

Agree 100% It's my, yours, their property. They have the right to do as they please, and don't anybody start an argument on how it lowers their property value. It raises it because you now have a neighbor who owns enough stuff to help you anyway you need. I bet no one ever thought of that angle, did they ?

I really enjoy seeing YL getting in and working on projects. I have been trying to get my XYL to use the tractor when I am not home to move an item or mow. She just won't do it, says it is too much to learn. I have anterior motive though. Figure if she learns to run tractor it means I could get a second bigger tractor.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  4 роки тому +1

Changing the attachments is a lot to learn, but operation is easy. Unfortunately, I would think I had it setup to mow, but I would have forgotten to take it out of 4wd, or forgotten to latch the wheels, or shift pto to ‘mid’. There IS a lot to learn.

Shelter logic makes good stuff and stands behind the warranty. There factory is only about 45 minuets from me so I picked mine up directly. My tractor is parked in one. Fabric started to show some wear within the warranty and they covered it. Then I upgraded to the heavier material. Just make sure you got it solid to the ground they do flex a bit in strong winds!

Thanks for taking us along on your journey to upcoming projects. I would like to offer some safety advice. From the video, it looks like your "Backcut" is way too low, for where your front "Notch" is. The "Backcut" should be around 2 inches higher than where the two cuts meet for the front "Notch." This way, when the tree starts falling forward, there is around 2 inches that the bottom part of the tree can react against, and hopefully keep the tree from kicking back into/onto the person cutting down the tree. This is probably why you had to use the wedges to get the tree to fall forward. You were trying to get the tree to do an unnatural thing. I am not trying to be a Mr. know-it-all. Just offering some advice that can be verified by professional tree cutting services. Even though I have kidded in the past about the channel becoming "Tractor Time With Christy", we would all miss the jovial banter between you and Christy.

I think you shouldve cut a bigger notch then less likely to get the saw pinched. I ran an old McCullough saw to start when 16 ish. When i was 18 me and dad was trying to go together to the local stihl dealer but wasnt working out. I went myself to start looking and turns out dad did same. Me dad and mom went together finally walked in and walked out real quick as we each decided that i was wanting a ms 290 farm boss. Price and size for my usage determined that. 1 bearing siezed right after warranty seemed like. Low funds and dealer robbed an abandoned units bearing for labor and saw runs like a champ 14 years later. I run a 039 also. Mom says its mine but i still call it dads (rip) the 039 is probably around 28 to 30 years old. Just used both 2 weekends ago at church camp cutting some med. size dead trees down. Thats when i came home with 8ft flail mower. Pto shaft telescope stuck turnes out its twisted. New shaft needed so a delay in getting it running due to $$$ since steering on my trk is shot. The tree was cut a bit low for a bucket to get good leverage on it.
I think it’s time to burn that stump.

The cat's are the show helper's. Great job with the tree. We are finally getting rain up here. This morning the rain gauge showed 1 3/4 inches of rain just from one storm a lot of lightning and thunder Green Bean gets a break today. No tree cleanup in the back. Way too wet not safe on the hill

Just plant another. There is a tree in every acorn, pecan and seed. God made it that way. Squirrels plant trees every day. Just poke a hole with yer finger where you want the tree an push seed in . Neet ant it. Turn around twice while raising a child an your tree is 20 inches across. Trees is like any other crop harvest an plant harvest an plant. Plant good seeds every day.
