First thing I noticed is they should make that top bunk a "move bunk, get out the way" like in the AIM 15bh, that way you could use the bottom bunk as additional seating.

This is PERFECT for me in every way as a Sister on the Fly solo camper with the occasional grandchild!! Perfect weight for my Nissan Pathfinder that I pulled a Wolf Pup Limited Edition 16bhs with previously, and this little Aim is overflowing with storage inside & out! I'm in a teardrop now for easy get up & go weekend trips, but need something a little larger for 3 mo travel this summer. This Aim may fit the bill - except the single axle. I hope to see it in person at the Jacksonville Mega RV Show in Feb.
I'm so grateful to you, Josh, for bringing TT's in all shapes & sizes to my living room & pointing out the good, bad, road mode, and the Nerd Herd's feedback that I'd never have known about otherwise!! Keep nerding on!! God bless!

8:25 - not only was the channel originally Josh @ Haylett, but if you were watching way back you'll remember when Josh didn't fully settle into his "nerd" status and would talk exclusively behind the camera and had a gold bracelet on the hand he would use to point things out. I feel I have to drop that reference every year or so 😆. In all seriousness, love how the channel has grown over the many years I've been watching, and related to this video, really liking how out of the box Imagine is with most of their plans.

Grand Design does a fantastic job with regards to inside storage and this one is no exception. Only thing I'd like to see is a larger fridge, maybe 8 or 10 cubic feet and also make it a double axle trailer.

I really like this especially after seeing that there was a sink in the bathroom.

  • @tickticktickBOOOOM
    @tickticktickBOOOOM 9 місяців тому +9

Well, this is different, but I like it. The kitchen and bathroom set ups are great examples of using space efficiently. I love breakfast bars, and having a great view right out that window instead of down the rest of the RV makes it even better. Add a comfortable chair and I could work at it. The charger is a very nice touch.
The hide-a-sink and covered fore and aft stove give all the prep space you need, and that pocket at the end can fit a coffeemaker and toaster with room to spare. The bottom drawer freezer on the fridge is ergonomic. I'd probably wind up using the kitchen sink instead of the flip down in the bathroom, but it's nice to have and doesn't get in the way. Shower is cramped but if I can stand up I can live with it.
The sleeping arrangements are what's really interesting. Single parent with kids is probably the best scenario for this, or a couple that really likes to cuddle. As a solo camper, I could use the bunks as storage space most of the time, especially the top bunk. I would also consider leaving the murphy bed up and sleeping on the bottom bunk, especially since bendy beds tend not to be the most comfortable and I don't sprawl while I'm sleeping, so I can get by. A way to raise or remove the top bunk, at least to the point I could sit up, would make this even more flexible.
Outside, the spray port is good to have, and I'm glad there's still one on the sewer side. You hope you don't need it, but when you do, it's a lifesaver. Slide in outdoor grills fall under 'would be nice' on my list of priorities. The full pass through storage is higher. That rubber flooring on the slide storage is a nice touch. Mildew and mold under your pillow is not happy making.
Overall, this fits a lot into a little trailer. High clearance and solar in something a SUV can tow make this great for boondocking, especially in parks that put severe limits on how big a trailer you can take into them.

Idea for a single, put a good mattress for the bottom bunk, raise the top bunk if desired and make it shelving. Replace the murphy bed with a desk or other office stuff if you use the dining area as a desk, and you've got an office you can live in.

  • @christinepotter7117
    @christinepotter7117 9 місяців тому +3

    I like it...👍
I would be using it as a solo camper. So, I wouldn't be using the murphy bed. I would just use the lower bunk bed to sleep and the top bunk for storage. And, you know what I'm going to say, Josh, I wish they didn't put the window at the head of the bottom bunk...😢.
Love the blackout roller shades on the bunks...💕
    Love the desk/dinette/kitchen prep space...🥰.
Wish it had a regular size kitchen sink with a standard kitchen faucet...🤞
Love all the storage throughout the camper.
Love the rectangle shower with the nautilus door...👏
The weird flip up bathroom sink is fine. Would definitely need some sort of added storage in the bathroom corner...🤔
Good outside storage for how small it is, and LOVE that it come with a griddle/station...😍

    @dand7490 9 місяців тому +3

I love this little camper. Great for a small family. We spent a good hour looking at this one back at the Hershey show. I agree with some of the other comments to improve the design:
    1. Make the upper bunk fold either up or down so that the bottom bunk could be a lounge seat. Gives even more flexibility of just the parents go camping.
    2. Needs a slightly bigger fridge for the family and would like to see the xls kitchen sink and faucet brought over.
    3. Consider making the counter top all one continuous height. For us, we would use the left of the sink for a drain board but the counter falls off.
    4. I’d raise the bathroom window closer to the ceiling and use the space below for some sort of storage situation.
    5. The new interior light strips triggered my wife’s headache after just a few moments in the trailer and she is not overly sensitive either. Maybe consider trying something else?
    6. Finally, should the roof access ladder be lined up directly over the hitch? Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like that might interfere with a bike rack or whatever you might use it for.

So cool. Love this one. And I don't feel anyone who says "no way am I sleeping right on top of my kids like that"...probably are not the cool parents who wd even take their kids camping. Plus, bunks are great for pets too not just kids or guests. So this is an awesome single/or couples camper. And I know sometimes you just need a little resting area so if the bed is up then you still have the bunks. Plus great for bags or large backpacks. They nailed this one in my book and the outside storage is AWESOME. Thanks for showing this one.

OK, yes, to making the top bunk a lift up so you could use the bottom for seating or storage of an e-bike. I know I always say that but I love my e-bike ! Why can’t we have a wall oven/microwave/Convection? Remember the old wall ovens that were built into the cabinetry? It was waist high and you could just pull the food straight out. I find microwaves, up high and down low make it very easy to spill hot food. Ouch!! Last, I hate that sink in the kitchen with the glass top. You know that’s not a very big sink, and if you’ve got four people in there and their dishes, yuck! I don’t know if that was cheaper or what. Thanks for the video Josh😊😊😊

For a small camper it’s great. Some suggestions to make it better
    1. Add a mesh on top bunk to have the option of using it as storage. Change the color of the black roller shade on top bunk to match decor
    2. Provide option for cabinets on top bunk.
    3. Provide option to remove both bunks and make it into storage
    4. For option 3 of storage you could add washer/dryer as well. The water hookup is not far since the water connections from the pass through storage are there. Would be awesome to have a W/D in under 20 foot !

Great storage for such a small trailer.
Love the breakfast bar with the big window. I would change out the stools for something better.
I'm not sure about the lights. I like the dimmer, wish our 22MLE had that, but the bar doesn't grab me.
I'd prefer armrests on both ends of the sofa.
I'm generally not a fan of folding sinks since they tend to be over the toilet and I think it is better to leave them out. However the way they did it in this trailer it works and is a plus rather than a minus.
I like the large pass through door. You usually don't see those on small trailers.
I don't like the spare tire mount under the trailer. I have never had a flat tire on a dry day and the last thing I want to do is crawl around in the mud to get to the tire.

OMG! I love it! They fit so much in such a small space and did unlike anyone else, and in a good way. When you show a removable table in front of the Murphy bed/sofa, but you didn’t show it in the video itself. Would’ve liked to see it but no biggie. One request for Grand Design: can we get a window for the top bunk? I didn’t see anything on the outside indicating it would be a problem. Other than that, I wouldn’t change a thing. 👍👍

My wife agree's this may be the camper for us. We have a midsize truck rated at 1534 pounds. payload and 7500 towing. with the under 20 ft length, I think this is a perfect combination. We won't be using the bunks as bed, but will turn them into additional storage. Top bunk for holding totes and clothes, and bottom bunk maybe for a folding bike. Although not using bunks as bed, I think there should have been a top window for ventilation, even if it was very small. The only other concern is the folding sink in bathroom, not because it folds, just wondering where to put hand soap, toothbrushes and other bathroom junk.

This is a super coo unitl! I'd even like to see this done in the same way, but maybe even a foot or two longer. This floorpan is a great jumping off point for some new, future floorpans. The video footage of the stools over near the bathroom door, make it appear as if the stools are in the corner, cowering in fear of you. 😅

This is also really suited for a single's tiny home. I'm left handed and the only issue for me is if the sink is up against a left wall. I love this, it's exactly what I'm looking for. Don't need the Murphy bed, hope it can be replaced with a regular couch. Is there a ladder for the top bunk? Just love it❤

Great floor plan. Great storage. I'm super short. No issues. Lol. Great counter space!! Love it. Wish Jayco made one like this.

If the bunks flipped up or adjusted where you could just move them up out of the way, this would be perfect. Maybe add some hooks in the bathroom

This would be perfect without the slide and the Murphy bed. I'm looking for a couples camper that uses functional adult sized bunks instead of twin beds and also has the dining bar instead of a dinette. That saves a lot of space.

I actually like the idea that they don't completely purpose every inch of space. Areas of open counter tops, the bunk areas, etc. offer the ability to do some customization. The unit is very unique--it offers a little bit of privacy in tight quarters if people don't want to share a bed and don't want a dedicated bed taking up floor space. When people say they would buy it if it had a queen bed in place of the bunks, etc. they are missing the point--floor plans like that are common. We have looked and looked for something like this, and something that we can pull with a 4Runner in our case, and not have to climb over each other or our dogs. This unit offers a lot of open floor space for the size and dimensions of the rig, a lot of storage, especially underneath, and some alternative sleeping options. So guess I am a fan! They need a way to secure the bar chairs (love the bar!), however. Stuffing them down the back of the Murphy Bed or whatever does not appeal. I don't quite understand the reference to a "bendy" bed. When you said that I thought oh no, it has the dreaded jackknife couch which we hate to sleep on. Or a futon. But the bed seems to simply tip down and looked pretty flat to me. Hope the mattress is ok? That is one thing I don't feel travel trailer manufacturers think about. Where is this unit located?

So if they offer Murphy bed/slide models with and without bunks, wouldn't it be nice if they offered that bunk floor plan without the slide/bed.. just the flip over couch? For single travelers or weekend Dads who could put a child in the top bunk and/or one on the couch for the night. It's hard to tell, but it looks as if there is room for the couch and that side shelf/cabinet area with no slide. Wouldn't it also reduce the weight allowing more storage capacity? Might reduce the price, too.
Thoughts? (since you got to walk in it and we just get your wonderful videos)
I love the dining bar instead of the larger booth. In fact, I love everything except the Murphey/slide.

Have to admit watched this with sound off so maybe mentioned. How about moving slide next to bathroom and put appropriate cabinet on right between bunks and bed. Realize it is 20 feet but it would provide for a bit less coziness and more separation. Also there might be a play to move push out to back and bathroom in middle and fridge in front across from door. That seems ideal.

I wish this one still had double axles & that the top bunk could be stowed for more headroom on the lower bunk either to sit or sleep someone a bit taller. I also wish the sprayer by the grill was hot & cold so I can do my dishes outside. Lastly, a top quality sofa bed in the slide might be better than an uncomfortable Murphy bed & so-so couch.

Well done Grand Design! I would want this a little longer but no more then 25ft so we can have tandem axels. Also, could we get a wall between the bunks and the rest of the unit to have a chance at privacy for changing clothes? Also a power outlet and folding shelf in the slide would be nice for us cpap folks.
Please tack on ASB for these units or at least make it a dealership option.

Something that small...rather give up the bathroom floor vent for better head room in the shower. As someone who is 6'4", every little bit I can skim off to be able to fit, is nice. Granted, I am used to hanging off mattresses anyways since I am a stomach sleeper, so that part doesn't bother me. If I was a Solo camper, I think I might take both bunk mattresses out and use those for storage/wardrobe space. Put some bungie netting on some 3M hooks across those spaces. Use the bottom one like a laundry hamper storage, make use of the window there for venting and the shade to keep the 'mess' hidden. Perhaps a solution for left handers for the bathroom is a curtain along the wall, extend it far enough along the wall so that even elbow usage wont expose to much of a view. Shorter solo travelers might think about leaving the murphy up and using the lower bunk for sleeping of course as well.

Great review of this unit. Grand Design layouts are unique from many of the competitors, which gives consumers a variety of options. I am looking for travel trailer under 22 feet with bunks for my family of four with no slide outs. This unit makes me want to reconsider the slide out.
Would you ever do comparison reviews of different units that would be market to the same consumer group?

LOVE the floorplan creativity here, but too many negatives. Kitchen should not have a fold-down faucet if the bathroom does. Upper bunk should fold up. In general, i have to accuse Grand Design of cheaping out on too many things here. Tires, stabilizers, fart fans, no bumper, no slam latches, and for the love of Pete, the Schwintek slide system. I expect more from an upper tier brand. I get that this isn't their top line, but they should be treating the Aim series the way Rockwood treats Geo Pro, and the way Winnebago treats the mini winnies. Instead they cut features. My frustration stems from liking this enough that I'd consider buying it, but too many misses. Sorry for the honest feedback Josh, but very much appreciate another great video!

odd floorplan, but i like it, i myself would probably turn the top bunk in to storage of some sort, could even add shelves and/or cabinet doors if wanted to it looks like, keep the bottom bunk as it is, can be a place to toss things, pets to hang out on, or sleep on yourself in travel stops... ok so you cant use the couch with slide in either obviously, no problem, you got stools right there if dont store behind bed, can still sit there and eat etc. and relax a bit too if you were to invest in a nicer more chair like barstool or two,, kind you see around casino table games or higher end bars, bigger than ones that come with it, but 2 fit perfect in same spot as 3 now, secure them with straps or bungie cords whatever, not hard either, everything else you can use fine.
