- Picking up where we left off with batting statistics, we take a dive into some more advanced (but generally better) stats on batting: wOBA, wRC, and wRC+ and I explain what each calculates, and why you should know them.

Do these weighted numbers include situations like a fielder's choice, which wouldn't count as a hit but might result in the player getting on base?
Hey Sami! These particular ones do not weight a FC (which is actually kind of funny if you think about it, since you're correct it DOES get a runner on base, but I think because that situation is more defensive than offensive it doesn't end up being factored in). DRC+ MIGHT weight that but I believe all weighted batting stats focus solely on outcomes related to what the batter (or in the case of walks, the pitcher) have done, rather than factoring fielding outcomes. The more I think about this the better the question is, because I don't even think BABIP factors fielders choice.
Well done!
I've just decided to get a puppy and name it WOBA
Good stuff
are these numbers used in salary negociations?
Does a pitcher have a wRC+ ?
Sounds like WOBA is based on Pete Palmer's linear weights
