    Things I would like to see covered more in the vlog include, Business (More in depth) music production workflow, how to plan as a label etc... hope those ideas help

    You might can reduce it to less videos during this time and tell your team to find topics and show us tips for the music business. They definitely have got new perspectives we don't know yet.

    we love the production videos and all the techniques... if you don't want to share the songs beforehand, you can release the production videos after you have released your album

    Record "the making of" and release it after the track is out, will be a big traffic driver to your songs as well.

    Homie seems so lost in this one, like he really doesn't know what to do with himself. LOL. That feeling must be amazing. The feeling of having accomplished major goals and just being able to enjoy the success for a minute. Good work Jon.

    You could do videos on the struggles of putting a full album together e.g finding a good flow, figuring out how to promote an album in a singles market etc. Then follow up with how your album performed vs. releasing singles.

    You don't have to put the album stuff in the vlog but PLEASE make sure you record it and put out a documentary after you release the album!

      Scrolled down to the comments just to say exactly this. Totally understandable that you don't want to put out the album work right now. But please document it anyways and put some of it out at a later date. I understand that most of the stuff has been covered on a separate basis already. But this could be a great way to show how you can achieve a cohesive sound while having multiple songs that could even cover different genres.

    I want to say first and foremost. Thankyou. You just showed me how much you care about us ( the viewer). I still got along way to go before to go before I get my studio together. Did you have the same struggles starting out in music production

    Dear Sin,
    I can understand your situation fully. Made a similar experience suddenly having time over due to less working. Give yourself a little time and you will be surprised. There will be so much creativity and ideas developing, what now seems unbelievable. Take away pressure and allow yourself to do some new or forgotten stuff (sport, nature, art, museum, cinema …). Just reduce the time for the Vlog if there is nothing to say. I personally would be interested in your key learnings or events of the day - not on your album but maybe with some other examples - using VSTs, effects, music theory and experiments. What are the specific elements of the different genre in EDM music? I personally still have problems to get started with all the possibilities and it would help to see how it could work. But I’m not heading to be a professional (too old for that). For me it is just a hobby and fun. Thanks for everything and looking forward seeing your progress.

  • @djdahous
    @djdahous 5 років тому

    You can combine your interests with ours, i.e. keep sharing some sneak peaks where you want our opinion. In the past you have shared some different versions and we have helped you to choose the best one. It's just an idea. Use your audience as music collaborators. Everyone has it's own opinion and then you decide in the end which direction your songs should go. Also, after your music gets released, then you can do "how I've made" kind of videos as well. Don't get bored! There are plenty of topics in which we're interested to hearing from you, even if it's not totally related to music, i.e. which laptop to pick for music production, reviewing that software you bought last year for producing vocals (Vocaloid), etc... keep it coming!

    Jon you have provided amazing value to me and many others over the last few years. Why not stop the daily vlogs and do them weekly or twice weekly. Use that time to go really in deep with the music, spend more time with Vanessa, etc. You must be close to 1000 episodes. Why not scale it back after you hit 1000.... Another idea is to use the time saved and start making videos for your tracks. You could then also do videos to show your process of making the music videos.

    1.Try to make a weekly show for music you love (minimix of 30 minutes will be just right)
    2.Try to ask subscribers if anyone have any professional video to share in music production.
    3.Create another you in another genre thats far from your current genre (Melodic house or any house will be just perfect) .
    For being bored, man; have a child to change :)

    I think your missing a trick you can find videos on how the Beatles made let it be and other famous artists made their videos too. You can do footage of your work on the album. If your album takes off it will be worth a lot! Also I'm not saying to show it immediately but after it's done.

    I think you should still record and document the album process, but hold the footage back and make a longer "making the album" film to accompany the album release. Then, rather than 7 videos a week, maybe cut back to 3 or 4 videos. e.g. Q&A Monday, Track Submits Thursday, Weekly super vlog Sunday. I'm not sure how much the reduction in uploads would affect your numbers, but I'm sure it would give you more time to focus on the album whilst keeping a regular upload schedule of good quality videos.

    Use the extra time to ride your bike :-D Would be a shame if it just stands in a corner. You could even show some places of the city during a ride, like some other ppl recommended already. You could also do some kind of community collab production, where multiple people do a part of the production, and all the viewers chose what to take, then move on to the next part. At the end, release it on your label.

  • @CobeRoc

    Maybe more in depth business stuff?
    Like how you do your contracts? What are the important parts of a contract?
    Who is involved in your publishing chain? How are the contracts with them?
    Why are you so worried about publishing music as there is something called "Urheberrecht"?
    And iam sure there are many many other questions under many of your videos who are not answered yet, where maybe you think they are not important or interesting but maybe they are. also dont forget you get new followers all the time who dont go through all the videos. some things also run out of date and there is nothing wrong to make them new etc etc.. best wishes

  • @CliffordBradbury
    @CliffordBradbury 5 років тому

    Ah Jon, make the most of that extra time you have as surely it means the things you have worked towards are doing what they should? Im sure Vanessa would be only too happy to have more quality time with you. Its working in terms of employment for others, paying its self than burning a hole in your finances and giving back the hours you have poured into it all. You could even still make footage of the processes you are going through and the journey and create a mini series documentary at the end of it. Sure we all seen programmes that follow people for year and consolidate into a few hours etc. YOu proved you have the skills to record life so please continue to use it. A daily vlog is still possibly but like others say, if doesn't have to be 10-15mins, just a quick 5 min catchup, plenty seems to happen that canbe interesting otherwise, we wouldn't still be here.
    Anyway... keep it going... :)

    Pleas Jon, just quit the daily vlogging. I feel like the quality of the vlogs really went down the last months. Don't get me wrong, I really like what you're doing and I've already learned a whole lot of stuff because of you. Just upload a couple vlogs a week. You'll see the quality will improve as less is more as you often say :)
    I'm really looking forward to your first album and wish you all the best for the production process!

    • @costacuz
      @costacuz 5 років тому

      I don't really agree on the quality going down statement.
      Jon always amazes me with his ability to squeeze a perfectly shot time-lapse here and there or give some really helpful tip about music production, or just show another industry inside, but in my opinion it is a great idea to quite the daily vlogging thing, because after a while it becomes the thing someone does for the sake of never missing an upload, and that is frustrating for both the viever and the vlogger.
      Jon if you reading this, your true audience loves you and will love you even more if you just concentrate on the album. You don't need to completely quit the daily vlogging but focus, as someone in comments suggested on documentary about your album creation process.
      Damn, it is truly unbelievable, if you think about it - never to miss an upload in 3 years!
      Can you imagine that?
      What an accomplishment!
      But hey, we all need our quite time, concentration time, time to figure things out, time just to think, to breath, time to grow
      My suggestion is: dedicate yourself to the purest joy of creation something new and exiting.
      And in no time people who have got bored will be so exited about your new vlogs you can't even imagine

    • @melona3727

      i really agree... It's the Quality, not the Quantity of the vlogs...
