not the shoutout 😭!! i'm so honoured 🫶 i LOVE watching you line edit. it's so interesting to hear you talk about the work and how even back then you thought so deeply about the thematic intention!
I remember watching the vlog (?) where you read through Kris’ feedback and you keeping what it was a retelling of a secret (mystery solved 🦢)! So appreciate your line editing videos. Loved hearing all the additional context and the rationale behind your edits ❤
Haha that feels so long ago! I had completely forgotten that I was trying to keep it a secret at the time, but I'm kinda glad we've come full circle with it? Tysm, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Okay, but your initial version before you line edited was really good, too! The line edited version you showed us on screen definitely had many improvements, though, but I was also impressed by your initial version! I love the last paragraph you added/changed in Cosima’s POV and how it connected to her mother. That was beautiful! 😍 I admire your ability to write second world/epic fantasy because I don’t think that’s something I could do! Would you consider revising that Adult book you mentioned? Not just for a video, but I mean in general, even though it’s gory. I would love to see more videos like this! I always find it easier to line edit others’ work, like my students or beta/critique partners’ work, rather than my own. I don’t know if that’s just me!
Thank you for the kind words, Lara! My style has definitely evolved a lot so it can be weird seeing what my writing was like before I developed my voice :') For the adult book, I don't think I'd revise it necessarily, but I'm interested in revisiting the general idea in the future-it'd be quite a heavy book though, and would require a lot of historical research. ty for watching!!
this was so much fun! editing videos always make me want to edit hehe which is perfect timing because I'm editing right now LOL I always end up adding introspection after the first draft 😅 my characters always seem perfectly understandable to me even when they're not 😂
This was really interesting! I always feel so critical of my own writings but I really enjoyed listening to how your explain ideas on the tone and execute the voice.
I really love your writing style and the flow you had while line editing! I’m confused about something though, what do you do with the excerpt when you’re done editing it?
@@arden.chambers thank you so much! For this particular excerpt it was just a demonstration for the sake of the video, and I have no plans to return to this project :)
@ that makes sense. Then, generally what would you do afterwards? I think the way you edited would help considerably for my own writing, but I’m unsure of what to do once I finish :/

The little realization of "Oh, she threw one [message] in the fire" at 14:13 made me chuckle
You had me at Sapphic Swan Lake thumbnail!

I love the rhythm of writing. The melodies that play when you’re reading are just so wonderful! 🤞🏼

definitely interested in more of these! also, side note, these excerpts were so pleasing to read (even though you had lots of improvements!)
Yes, I'll definitely work on some more videos like this! tysm :')

The characters I write usually sound perfectly well-rounded in my head, but putting that to the page is a whole other beast
Haven't watched the video yet but you had me at 'sapphic swan lake' in the thumbnail
Literally same
I would definitely love to see more videos like this.
these are my fave kind of videos yayyyy
these are my favourite type of videos!
You got me immediately at Swan Lake. Big ballet fan, Swan Lake is a classic, very excited.
one sec lemme finish my book so I can watch this-
This was really interesting! I always feel so critical of my own writings but I really enjoyed listening to how your explain ideas on the tone and execute the voice.
Not me was gonna skip this because I also have a project called project.swan lake. But seeing it's different, I can watch with out future worries😭
This was super interesting to watch! Thanks for sharing with us :)
Thank you for watching!!
This was such a good watch! Also wild to think I can remember you vlogging about this retelling all the way back then!
I know I'm late, but I love these types of videos - so interesting to hear your thought process!
hi lynn, i've loved following your videos for the last few years & as a YA fantasy writer getting back into drafting, they are so inspiring!
sorry writing project, Lynn d jung just posted ✨️✨️✨️
Me editing yesterday and today my first 10 chapters instead of writing further 🤠🫶
Love this idea 🩵
Say “line editing” and have me SEATED

@@lynndjung when you’re editing a project you plan on finishing, do you also do it this way or do you do it differently?
@ The same way! What I change might be different depending on the goals of the project, however, such as voice and language choices
@@lynndjung that makes sense. What do you do when you’re done editing that excerpt?
We all hate Victor!! 🙃
