I had Urban Freestyle Soccer on GameCube and it was a little one dimensional but each team had an awesome themed home pitch, you could king hit players off the ball, and do some pretty wild skill moves. Super underrated game
Another interesting entry, though it might have to be a wildcard entry, would be FIFA 2009 (I think...) specifically for the Wii having a mode where you can play with professional footballers' Mii characters. Seeing Miis slide tackling and tumbling around the pitch was hilarious. Also for consideration: Backyard Soccer. Soccer game with kids (including one in a wheelchair) and kid versions of famous MLS players at the time. (Made for kids, obviously, but still fun) Had full seasons to play through, if I remember right.
@@elpetrogmr hahaha, glad someone recognize those game, and btw the most OP teams were Germany and Saudi Arabia, both of them have their unique skill especially the goalkeeper, whatever super shot the opponent takes the GK will catch it easily hahahaha
First footie game I ever played was World Cup Italia 90 for the Mega Drive, I remember struggling to master it but tbf I was only 5 or 6 at the time and I was also struggling to master tying my shoes so not sure how difficult it actually was 😂
I love the inazuma eleven series. I wish you would stream it, but since it's a ds game and takes quite some time to finish it will probably never happen.
I was expecting “Kunio-kun's Nekketsu Soccer League” among the titles too. Unfortunately you haven’t mentioned it. In my opinion this by far beats most of these games in many terms. A strangely fun game. I highly recommend trying it
I was concerned you guys would not mention Mega Man Soccer. I didn't have an SNES growing up here in Brazil but I had many friends who did and Mega Man Soccer was a really popular conversation topic in school back then.
The Redcard cover art features neither Vinnie Jones or Ryan Giggs - even I, a non-footballer can see that it's quite clearly neither of them. 😛 It does however look like a recreation of a famous Vinnie Jones incident that did occur.
Mega Man Soccer brings back some horrible memories. Back in the days of video game rentals, I rented it and then we got a blizzard and we got snowed it for a week. I had nothing else to play but Mega Man Soccer.
Love seeing games I reviewed way back when. Inazuma 11 was a fun little one... I didn't particularly LOVE it by any means, but it was a nice distraction from standard RPGs and standard sports titles.
Bit dissapointed that nintendo world cup for the nes was not on the list. You could play on gras, concreat ,ice or gravel and every surface had a diffrent impact on the players. If you tackeld a player enough times he would be put out until a goal was scored. Aside from that every team had a their own super shot exept from the us were almost every player had their own version. Still have my copy and play with friends from time to time...
I still have fond memories of soccer brawl. It looked similar to mega man soccer but the cyborg characters were bigger and each possessed a unique shot and players could be knocked down by a ball of fire.
Oh, so that's who that "anime style" character is in the extended Nike World Cup commercial with "Weird Science" in the background that's been playing on tv lately?
Seeing as you chaps used the English equivalent if soccer for football, how about a video of strangest Americian Football Games? And if you decide on such a topic, Mutant League Football for the Sega Genesis must be up there, along with NFL Street and Blitz. Thanks for the work and time put into the channel to the whole crew. Best of days to you.
My couple of nuggets regarding footy games would be 1) There is/was a Japanese SNES (yes.. Super Famicom. whatever..) game that the mists of time have wiped the name of the game from my memory. Which had a bizarre English voiced match commentary. Who uttered the classic line at the end of the match. "TIMES OOP!" Can anyone help me with the name? I didn't imagine it I swear! 2) On the original International Superstar Soccer (for the Super Famicom in my case 'Perfect Eleven.') There was a way to almost guarantee a player being sent off. iirc it involved walloping the opposing goalie when he was taking a goal kick? Something like that. Well... I got to thinking, "how many players from my team could I get sent off in a match?" Took me a few practice runs, but I subsequently discovered the answer is in fact 10. Wanna know why? Because once your 10th blokey gets sent off, the other team will inevitably score. And the game promptly locks up because you don't have 2 players left to take the resulting kick off. Obviously the game creators didn't anticipate anyone being stupid enough to see what would happen in such a case.
In the real world, a match is abandoned if a team gets 5 players sent off. You'd think they'd have factored that in. I remember that game too, the original iss, there was also a guaranteed way to beat any man, you'd run at them, then do the step over flick the ball trick where it goes up the player's back and over their head. The opposition player would always try to head the ball in the middle of this trick, but could never intercept it, so you end up with the ball back at your feet and the guy is 2 metres behind you, giving you a free run past him. Worked every time, and made the game ridiculously easy. I could win games 20-0 on the hardest level, and I'm not that brilliant at video games.
Let me make one thing perfectly clear, THIS IS NOT A VIDEO ABOUT FOOTBALL GAMES! THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT SOCCER GAMES, NOT THE SAME THING IN THE USA! Why don't you just call it 10 Strangest Soccer Video Games Of All Time instead? In Mexico or overseas, it's pronounced futbol' (soccer) , over here in the USA, it's called soccer, not football! Maybe next time they'll do their homework on this UA-cam channel. It shouldn't be that difficult for this channel to make 10 Strangest American Football Video Games Of All Time!
Sega Soccer Slam is THE greatest football game of all time
Wrong SWOS is the greatest football game of all time.
@@graemenicol6377 what is SWOS? Lol
Sensible World Of Soccer I'm guessing?
@@Banquet42 yes
@@graemenicol6377 MADDEN IS THE BEST SERIES EVER!!! FIGHT ME BITCH!!!
SEGA Soccer Slam was an incredible hidden gem, picked it up from a local corner shop and played it more than any edition of FIFA.
I had Urban Freestyle Soccer on GameCube and it was a little one dimensional but each team had an awesome themed home pitch, you could king hit players off the ball, and do some pretty wild skill moves. Super underrated game
I got Sega Soccer Slam for christmas when my parents couldn't find Star Wars Battle Front 2, I loved it, played it for months
What an odd picture of Gianfranco Zola you picked. Not from his playing days, but a charity gig from 2018. Still, he was the man.
Another interesting entry, though it might have to be a wildcard entry, would be FIFA 2009 (I think...) specifically for the Wii having a mode where you can play with professional footballers' Mii characters. Seeing Miis slide tackling and tumbling around the pitch was hilarious.

Ben narrating a SPORTS TIME list, you love to see it.
As soon as I saw the title of this video, my first thought was "Here we go, sports time!"
Nobody mentioning the legendary PS1 game title "Super Shot Soccer"?
Shoutouts to that game! One of the few football games I really enjoy and play for hours and hours

Just a question: isnt Captain Tsubasa a known anime?
Where i live (also in Europe), Captain Tsubasa was also very popular anime.
Tecmo probably didn't bother, If the game was handled by Bandai, I think they would keep the licensing at least for Europe.

You probably never heard of it but Pet Soccer was a strange and good game too. It was released on 2002.

i love everything with Gianfranco Zola in it, good job
then you would like our podcast 😂
You must love his wife
@@duffman18 first time a youtube comment made me laugh I a while, great work
1:30 That is not Vinnie Jones, nor Ryan Giggs!
Gotta say, seeing Cutman literally tear a goalie to shreds is not something I expected lmfao
I was disappointed not hearing 'OH YEAH HERE WE GO SPORTS TIME!!'
If this video doesn't prove this channel is God-tier, nothing will. I mean who else made a list like this?
Street kamara's street soccer was absolute insane football videogame! The power shot was incredible and very no sense!
Where is supershot soccer? You missed that game
The Redcard cover art features neither Vinnie Jones or Ryan Giggs - even I, a non-footballer can see that it's quite clearly neither of them. 😛 It does however look like a recreation of a famous Vinnie Jones incident that did occur.
And the guy getting his nuts crushed in the original was no 'generic footballer', it was Gazza himself!
Yes, 100% correct. You shouldn't take Wikipedia articles at face value, Triple Jump!
Citation needed!
Mega Man Soccer brings back some horrible memories. Back in the days of video game rentals, I rented it and then we got a blizzard and we got snowed it for a week. I had nothing else to play but Mega Man Soccer.
Liberó Grande and Three Lions deserved to make this list
Love seeing games I reviewed way back when. Inazuma 11 was a fun little one... I didn't particularly LOVE it by any means, but it was a nice distraction from standard RPGs and standard sports titles.
There was a PS1 football game that teams had "specials". China could literally build a wall, stopping every attack. It was really fun
OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, SPORTS TIME.
Chris Kamara left Sky Sports after 30 years because of speech apraxia😢
Clicked on this thinking it was FOOTBALL but turns out it's just Soccer.
The inazuna eleven franchise deserves more love in English speaking territories, such a great series of RPGs
I’m old enough to remember that in FIFA 2000 (yes, from the EA FIFA series) you could turn on alien abduction of players or lighting strikes.
Bit dissapointed that nintendo world cup for the nes was not on the list.

Kevin Toms Football Manager 1982. I played that for 24 hours once. It is so rubbish when I look back, haha
i had that game, techmo football but it was the other football which makes me wonder how they called that other football game
Anyone remember supershot soccer on the PS1? What a mad game that was 😂
That was inspired by Captain Tsubasa
Oooooooooh shit, UA-cam just recommend this video and I FOUND YOU VIDIOTS! I thought I've lost you guys forever. Glad I found you!
Sega Soccer Slam is a very good game to be honest especially if you play it against friends
Yeah man me and my pals had great sessions with it
Still one of the weirdest things I’ve seen is in pes 6 where you can play as play as penguins playing against players riding velociraptors
Oh, so that's who that "anime style" character is in the extended Nike World Cup commercial with "Weird Science" in the background that's been playing on tv lately?
WIld Cup Soccer (Amiga) would've been a good addition as well.
you gotta mention super shot soccer on ps1,every country got their own superpower,it’s really² fun
Guest appearance by Cultaholic and H&G's own football expert Ross Tweddell!?
iver see soccer video games that can unleash strange skills , but i forget the title , anyone know ?
Best channel ever!
I’m sure that’s not Vinnie Jones or Ryan Giggs on the front cover of Red Card?
Nintendo World Cup for the NES would be my choice.
what makes that game strange?
Is that Ryan Giggs? Surely not..

*OF* Football, not if.
Great list but you left out "Playchapas", a Spanish game for PSP about... bottle caps football
Unbelievable jeff!
0:19 What a terrible view. It reminds me of that tragedy.
Sadge that there is no Libero Grande.
Had a demo on Amiga called unsensible soccer where the teams were fruit and the ball was a bomb
A shame there's never been a Galactik Football Video Game.
Where was Adidas Power Soccer? It was where Red Card got the special moves from
Really thought Fever Pitch Soccer would be on this list.
I was waiting for soccer shootout on Nintendo it was a good game my brother and me use to play it
So Redcard was the euro version of Blitz ?
Still waiting for Wild Cup Soccer to appear...
Where is GOAL 3???

I'm guessing Mario Strikers was too obvious a pick?
You forgot super shoot soccer ps1 😭🤣
Eyez rememba dat game,it wuz so raycist
Tsubasa just best. That's why it's still here. But at least 1 SNES game is bad that's why they returnd to roots in ps2 and 2020 games.
Oh yes!! Sports time!!!!
The only time England will lift the World Cup trophy is in the intro to this video
Let’s not act like this title wasn’t orchestrated to confuse Americans in turn for some extra clicks 😂
Why no mention of our beloved King P.E.S.???
Worthy shout, All Star Soccer for thr Ps1 with Allistair McGowans stupid impression commentary.

Can we bring Aidrianooo back from his to play these?
I would love a WWE themed football game.

Red card is still the best ever......that dolphin team was well hard
Red Card was good Fun .winning matches because you have 6 mote players due to Injuries was fun

Red Card was a Great Game. Most of Midway Action Sports Games were Great. Too Bad they don't make any.
What isn’t stated was how are the game was when you had to try and beat the special teams to unlock them!!!
That doesn't look like Vinnie Jones and Ryan Giggs

RedCard is life.
Not Jones or giggs on the cover of red card ha
