  • Walking three days through the Wadi Rum desert in order to reach the highest mountain of Jordan, Jebel Um Ad Dami 1854m, located right next to the Saudi Arabian border.
    After the bedouins took me to the Fire Camp with their Jeep I started my hike and navigated through the desert all by myself. I had everything with me, my hiking gear, enough water, a stove to prepare food and even my tent to spend the night out there in the desert.
    Spending all the time alone, not hearing a voice or meeting a single soul was very relaxing, calming and almost meditative for my mind and I was able to connect with myself and listen to all my thoughts and desires.
    It felt like being on Mars or some other distant planet like Tatooine in the Star Wars universe!
    After 25 kilomters one way I finally reached the bottom of the mountain and started ascending to reach the Top of Jordans highest mountain!
    Enjoy the video!

    I love the landscape and view. No one is even there.

      Yeah right? It was so quiet and empty because I was there in January/February and no one really walks all the way there. Sometimes people go to that mountain but they do it by jeep.

    I have very happy memories of hiking up that peak five years ago! There was a Jordanian flag there at the time as well.

      Haha! That is a nice way to put it, but you are right! A lot of people tell me that they dont have the freedom, possibility or even chance to travel like I do and that they get to experience these places through me and my eyes! I am very greatful that I can transport the feeling of adventure and excitement to you with these videos!

    What a lovely video with such amazing scenery. How many languages do you speak? The video reminded me of a walking tour I did in a remote and arid part of Morocco with rocky scenery. It also reminded me of a camel tour I did in the Thar Desert, Rajasthan, India. The first day on the tour I felt very rough after having had an upset stomach and I couldn't eat very much (an upset stomach in India was nicknamed Delhi belly and in Nepal it was known as the Kathmandu quick step!). However the next day I was feeling better and got my appetite back - a simple breakfast of two boiled eggs with salt and I think a bit of boiled rice was one of the most enjoyable small meals I can remember - it's that feeling of the body recovering.

      Thank you for your long comment! Yeah Wadi Rum and Jordan was really magical. I felt like I am on another planet. I speak fluent english and german. I understand a bit of spanish, french and russian :P! You are right it has similarities with Morocco. An upset stomach always feels awful, luckily that rarely happens to me.

    I know you’re a great mountaineer but it’s great seeing your travels where ever they might be. Thanks for showing us places we might never see.

    What an interesting change of pace or place! Deserts are beautiful too. Was it winter in Jordan in February? Did you have to keep a look out for snakes, in all the rocks & bushes? Several types of mountains to see. I loved the wind carved ones. Did it get cold at night on the desert?

    • @norrdinenouar
      @norrdinenouar  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, you are right this is not the standard mountaineering but it was also very exciting and beautiful. Yes this is winter time in Jordan, so the temperatures were ok. Usually I dont like it, when it is too hot. I love being in a cold environment. Snakes were no problem, but I was a bit alert because of scorpions. In general I belive that we dont have to be too afraid of wild animals. I think if you respect their space, they wont be aggresive. I am also convinced, that animals can feel the intentions of us human beings and act accordingly. The mountains and their shapes and colours are just awesome and you really have to see them with your own eyes. It felt like I am on Tatooine in the Star Wars universe. The nights weren really cold. The temperatures dropped a bit, but my equipment is actually way to warm and I easily overheat at night, so I rather have to make sure to get enough ventilation and fresh air to not overheat at night. This is probably one reasone, why I feel so comfortable on cold high altitude mountains.

      Haha! I loooooved all kinds of RPGs as a kid. But FF got me hooked forever. My passion for games got swapped by mountains, travelling and nature though, because that is basically just like playing your own real life RPG and you even gather exp, level up and get to assign skill points :P
