  • Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville or Huntsville Unit (HV), nicknamed "Walls Unit", is a Texas state prison located in Huntsville, Texas, United States. The approximately 54.36-acre (22.00 ha) facility, near downtown Huntsville, is operated by the Correctional Institutions Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.[1] The facility, the oldest Texas state prison, opened in 1849

    Me and my mom drove right by the prison one time on vacation to Houston and got to see some officers on horseback with shotguns watching some prisoners doing some cleaning out front. And my mom had a friend that lived there and she told her that if anyone escaped and you heard the sirens go off, everyone in the town is instructed to shut down all of the stores and everyone has to lock all of the doors so the escaped convict has nowhere to go cause if they got outside of Huntsville there's nothing for miles.
