I never put mine back on because taking the oil cap off so I can get dirt/grime in it to take that blanket off was a no go for me. Next time you do it put some tape over the open fill port
Possible with age and use, though it is normal for a spark plug to have a "brown to grayish-tan" appearance due to "combustion by-products from fuel with additives" according to the Service Manual.

No, I do not. These are Pre-Gapped from the factory, but it never hurts to double-check and ensure a proper gap!
