I was doing piano playing and tuning only, and the root of tuning that is a tuning fork! The simplest of things you can add in your guitar case or next to your pick. It will save you from the incertainty in worst case your battery in your snarp fails! Another hint I guess, is making yourself as a total newbee to guitar tuning aware of the fact that top pegs are reverse-responsive to tuning to the bottom pegs (unless you start on an expensive all top pegs guitar as a beginner). It's not for all too clearly the case and it saves so much irritation if you're aware of this upfront. Another hint for those cornered in the absolute dire need for tuning whithout any reference ; use a song that you know all too well in which is a known "E". Like for us in EU everybody knows how to sing 'frère jaques' C, D, E, C. If you can hold that song's E, at least you'll have a start! Hope this helps, great vid (as usual hahahah)

When I did get a tuner I discovered my E string was ringing out as a C flat note (ouch!), the saddest part being that I didn't even know it! hey lauren ! by the way another great tip to give to beginner guitar players for tuning the guitar is this. you can tell weather or not your guitar is actually in tune or not cause if you play a note on a string on your guitar tuner device and then if you play the same string and same note on your guitar, the note you are playing on your guitar tuner and the note you are playing on your guitar string should sound exactly the same and when that happens it should create a laser like sounding chorus like sound effect when playing the two sounds together ! :) a great way to tell weather or not your guitar is in tune with your guitar tuner device and in tune to standard tuning ! :)

Best way is to train your ear to hearing the low E string in tune, it will come to you sooner than later don't worry, of course you have to use a tuner to start of with and they are not that expensive honestly, but once your ear "recognises" the low E in tune the rest of the tuning is easy peasy without using a tuner, go ahead practice it and within a few days you'll be laughing.

I use a Super tight. I play the guitar out of tune 1st... for a while. To loosen up the strings on a cold or not humidity controlled guitar. Then I use the Snark. I also tune just a touch sharp on every string. ty for the content. Liked
