Love this game! Story telling is great. Funny moments and dark moments. The character development is also great for each character. Socializations are also a big part of farming and being engaged in the story and world. Hope this game deserves more love.
Heaven Burns Red (commonly referred to as HBR or ヘブバン) is a mobile RPG that has drawn significant attention for its grand narrative and richly developed characters, created under the guidance of 麻枝准(Maeda Jun), a figure well-known for his work at Key. Since its release in Japan in February 2022, the game has enjoyed explosive popularity, earning numerous awards such as the Google Play Best of 2022 and achieving over 200 million USD in annual revenue within just one year of launch. The story is set on Earth, which teeters on the brink of annihilation following the invasion of mysterious enemies known as cancer(キャンサー). Players take on the role of a commander leading the special unit known as the Seraph Squadron(セラフ部隊), composed of young women endowed with extraordinary powers. Amidst the struggle against the cancer, you will experience the unique backstories of each character. Filled with both laughter and tears, their personal narratives and interactions drive home a sense of growth and deep bonds among the cast. In particular, the main storyline brims with conflicts, emotional struggles, and evolving friendships that profoundly resonate with players.
Character design is handled by Yu-gen(ゆーげん), known for his delicate touch and gorgeous color palettes from the Atelier series, and these designs are faithfully translated into 3D by Graphinica(グラフィニカ)’s cutting-edge technology. Through a technique referred to as cinematics, Graphinica breathes life into every character’s expressions and gestures, creating a striking sense of presence. This meticulous attention to detail, especially during pivotal story moments, amplifies the emotional impact and immerses players even further in the narrative. Adding to the appeal is the game’s commitment to full voice acting in all story events and dialogue scenes. This extensive voice work infuses each character with even greater charm and depth, making the world of Heaven Burns Red feel truly alive. Music also plays a major role in the game’s allure. Maeda Jun, renowned for his songwriting and composition skills, crafts a broad array of exceptional tracks performed by talented artists such as Yanaginagi(やなぎなぎ), Suzuki Konomi(鈴木このみ), and XAI(/saɪ/). These songs elevate the impact of the story’s most moving moments. The in-game live performance scenes are especially breathtaking. From Chapter 4 onward, the budget and production values increase, and with Graphinica’s involvement, these concert sequences soar in quality-so much so that they feel like attending a live event yourself. Moreover, real-world live concerts have been held nationwide across Japan, generating enthusiastic responses from fans.
On top of the main narrative, the abundance of event stories (Side Story) and character interaction episodes also deserves praise. With over fifty characters, each boasting distinct personalities, players continually discover new favorites. It’s frequently said among fans that “every new event story adds another character to your list of favorites.” The game’s quality and richness of content have rightfully become a hot topic. Heaven Burns Red, with Maeda Jun’s accumulated expertise on full display, offers not only the tear-jerking elements he is famous for, but also deft humor, compelling drama, and astonishing production values. For those seeking a deeply moving story and unforgettable characters, this masterpiece is truly a must-experience title.
Yeah the game is full of surprises... all I can say is... how they build up characters and how it later plays out in the story is either puts a smile on my face or... Hits you really hard... 😭
Timaeus forgot something with the character level thing. You can also use the skills of the S and A rank memoirs or rather styles for your SS rank. However, since SS ranks always have ultimate skills as their exclusive skill, you need to do something called "introjection" for the skill to be able to be used by other styles of the same character. The materials are farmable so don't worry. That way, you can build the character whatever you want her to be. But since the game's still new globally, the skills available are limited.
Yep, Heaven Burns Red is great. Currently farming Tears. - Just don't join any community until you finish the main story. - The story, the music, and interactions with each character are great. The combat is basically stacking up buffs and debuffs and surviving while doing because there are enemies who will debuff your team to setup for a one shot. - There are hidden dialogues depending on your choices. - Supports are queens in this game. - This is a Jun Maeda story. Expect tearjerker stories and tragedies. And don't forget - Otama and Bun-chan are adorable.
you seem very knowledgable so just wanted to ask, when applying vulnerable does the weakness damage taken received refer to elemental damage or damage type (slash, pierce, crush)?
@@zenljk5356 I'm not very knowledgeable, but do you mean fragile debuff like Mya's skill? Then it depends on the weakness the enemy has. It amplifies the damage you've dealt that is strong against the enemy. It's kind of a specified def break. Regardless of how many weaknesses the enemy has, the same amplification percentage will be given. The amplification depends on the usual, int and luk, capped at 50%. It can be stacked with elemental defense debuffs like Bun-chan's "Biscotti" skill and def break.
Raising units is super easy because you can farm mats infinitely with zero resource cost. Just afk farm, put on power save mode -- the farming is done server side. When you log back in, you should still see yourself in farm mode. The fastest way to gain XP is to do the gem bosses. You can easily power level any unit to max level in less than 30 minutes.
@@patrick6210 SS1 Maria and Ichigo exist. Those girls are decent for the current game content. You can also use SS Bungo as pierce dps, however, there's a chance that she'll fail her ult. SS Maria needs 10 totems to get maximum damage. For bosses, it's not so bad to wait for her to get 10 totems for a full one-shot setup because most bosses have 500-999 devastation rate. Ichigo only requires the usual setups, 2 buff stacks, 2 debuff stacks for the enemy, and 1 SS Yunyun ult.
I whale in a dozen gacha games. HBR is the best gacha game I've ever played -- my 2024 GOTY. And you can enjoy it 100% without spending even one penny. The game is the funniest and the darkest game simultaneously. The protagonist is the horniest game protagonist outside of straight up hentai games -- but this game has zero fan service, which is its only negative. (Oh and the voice actor of the protagonist also voices Firefly in HSR and Makima in Chainsaw Man.) And unlike Chinese wannabe anime games, this game is truly a Japanese game replete with constant Japanese cultural references and Japanese wordplay.
@@suntzu4607 Literally cleared the entire game on global, smh. And I've seen the JP styles. I stand by my point. If you think this game has any sort of fan service, you'd literally die seeing the average Chinese or Korean gacha game.

from VN player perspective, gacha part and daily grind is very annoying and story isnt that great. Just go play Loopers, Summer Pockets, Stella of the End. from gacha player perspective, there's better games with QoL and gacha rates with better strategy gameplay and fan-service for turn based RPG. from rhythm game player perspective, the top difficulty is unplayable on PC... the sliders are only supported well on mobile devices. So true. HBR story telling is top notch! Esp the end of chapter 2 and 3 until chapter 4 part 1.

Yeah the turn based battle feels more fun too
