Thanks for taking us along! Very impressive, congrats!
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Congratulations John! I respect your humbleness. Heck, until the end of the video I would have thought you placed low. You sounded so disappointed in your performance (like a perfectionist would). And then......so yeah, I ended up winning the day. Ha ha. Love it. Good luck on a great season. Rooting for ya!
Thank you for the kind words
That is very impressive shooting John! Those winds looked brutal, to say the least. Your earned that win. Your tenacity paid off. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you.
Well Holy Crap! I watch your videos often but had no idea I was shooting with you and other top guys at Rattlesnake. Congratulations on the win! This was my first time shooting beyond 600yds and my first match, I felt lucky just to keep my shots in the black but seeing you top guys score so well in those unforgiving conditions is truly inspiring. Tony (the guy at the bottom of the score card)
That’s great. I was next to you guy. You had one of the best (David) helping you through the day and it looked like you did great and had a lot of fun. Hopefully we’ll see you out there again!
@@FClassJohn - I was down on the end on target 20 paired with William (I think that was his name, the amazing Sling Shooter. He did better than me with his sling & open sights!). John who ran the match kept an eye on me to make sure I was on paper. David did help me with my WeatherMeter setup. Everyone was helpful and I did have a great time. I wish I would have known it was you, I would have liked to thank you in person for all the UA-cam advise you’ve given me over the past year. Funny you posted about your favorite shooting mat and I was actually looking for that mat on the range, go figure! Well Thank You for those videos, they really help guys like me.
Palm slap to the forehead moment! You did come and talk to me at the 900 and asked me how I was shooting. We joked about you needing to work on that 1 point down on the 800. Man do I feel silly..
@@ynotjf Don't feel silly and thank you for the kind words. It was a great day and it's never bad when you can hang out and learn from your peers. I certainly don't know everything so I'm out to learn every time I'm out there just like you.
Very cool you guys. 😎👍
Congratulations!!!You’re a great guy and thanks for your inspiration as well as sharing your journey!!! This interests me and am looking forward to learning and taking on shooting as a hobby!
Thank you for the kind words.
Who would have thought staring at a target could be so interesting, thanks for the analysis, brilliant.
Thank you. I'm glad you found it interesting.
Thanks for explaining and sharing your day of shooting. Looks like you had a good day.
Yes it was a good day and felt great. Glad you liked the video.
Congratulations. I enjoy your content and passion
I appreciate that.
Very impressive shooting well done John
Great work John.
Thank you.
Hey John, that’s just amazing shooting! ...
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Congratulations on some great shooting. Good vertical helped save you for sure but also some great wind calls. Would love to learn more about that part some day.
Thank you. I’m sure at some point I’ll do videos here or Patreon for wind reading.
Well done , that’s some great shooting in atrocious wind conditions F-Class John
Thank you.
John be aggressive all year this has got to be the year of a champion....Named John
Thank you. I’ll stay aggressive and shoot for first!
@@FClassJohn you go John I commented before I seen you done well today...great shooting good feeling isn't it
@@planeiron241 yeah it feels great. These guys are my idols so to finally be at near their level is awesome.
@@FClassJohn John, these guys probably say the same thing about you. 👍
Great shooting John! Congratulations!
Thank you.
Great shooting John! 🇸🇪
Thank you.
Those conditions looked absolutely terrible, wind wise. Outstanding scores for the conditions Sir. Good Job.
Thank you. I appreciate the kind comments.
Good Job!!!
Thank you
Great shooting John
Thank you
Nice job in that wind!
Thank you
Awesome
Been shooting FTR for 8 years. Comment at 6:39 is gold. Which even has more impact (Ha) for FTR!
TY
Thank you and I appreciate the kinds words and support.
Great shooting!!
Thank you
2x for the win,, congratulations Mr John!
Thank you.
Great shooting
Thank you
Same loads and 2nd half of 1k was half of the vertical as 1st. Man talk about stumped. Good job in the end with win. Cheers
Thank you and yeah, sometimes it just happens and you just have to shake it off and go to the next relay.
Great job, any way you can do a video on keeping low sd numbers
Respectfully, I dont think "a video" would cover all that goes into low SD. Since ive been watching these top shooters that share info, its a series of steps towards attention to detail that will achieve the numbers you seek, in my opinion.
what kinda bnullet/powder do u like to use for palma?id like to try it sometime but i can't afford to have a barrel special made for the 200gn bergurs so im currious if 175smk would be good enough to try it out with with maybe some varget or 4895
I wish I could help with that but I don’t shoot .308. Sorry.
Congrats!! Hendricks, glasscock, Christopher son, and Christian........All Of the top 5 shooting exact same caliber powder bullet etc?
I honestly don’t know what anyone was shooting except one of them had a 284.
Congatulation
Thank you.
I wouldn't want you shooting at me at any distance in any wind speed. Lol
Especially since we get wider and not taller with age.
So will you address the shot that dropped low? As in mark the brass to check for irregularities or just write it off as a fluke since it wasnt repeated? Congrats on your shooting.
Thank you. Honestly I just wrote it off as a fluke.
How accurate is the shot data on the electronic scoring as far as V etc. ?
If I remember right it’s +\- 2 or 3mm which is basically more accurate than when someone shoved a spotter in and it gets challenged. The best part is that it’s consistent across all targets so no human bias involved.
thats some really good shooting espec for a 308
Thank you. I was shooting 284win but when shooting electronic targets most matches set the default to .308. It make virtually zero difference in the results but ensures a fair fight without a ton of switching targets back and forth every time there’s a new shooter.
@@FClassJohn ya makes since. i am going to build a 7mm of some kind soon im just not sure what to go with., i was pretty dead set on 7rsaum but idk there are alot of good options. my concern is i dont want a barrel burner i want to be able to go practice with it and also take it to sunday matches without worrying about if im putting to many rounds down it.i would go 7/08 but i want a lil more velocity cause the only thing i would be shooting is 1k yards with it. what do you think? what would u go with? we tend to think alot alike i do alot of the same things you do on my own then ill see you do it on video its funny sometimes cause you do it better than i do i most of the time get good ideas from you to tweak my contraption i came up with lol. anyways what do you think on a 7mm? short action. something main stream so brass isnt impossible to find lol..
@@tjarmand Without knowing what your intended discipline is it's hard to say but in F-Class I've never seen anyone shoot 7mm-08. Magnums are fine but less popular right now and do kill barrels faster and can be tougher to tune. If want a solid, easy to load and wide variety of components just go with 284win.
What is the cartridge du jour for these matches? Especially on a day with a lot of wind.
Most guys shoot 284 or some kind of 7mm magnum.
@@FClassJohn Thanks. There are some pretty heavy bullets for 7mm. Relatively speaking. Probably good velocity.
Wonder if they will ever allow 7mm-08 in FTR? I bet the big time competitors would jump to that round in a heart beat. I am heavily invested in reloading .308, but have thought about necking down some of my brass to chamber the 7mm just to see the difference.
@@Aereaux Weight in bullets isn't everything. It's a balancing act.
I understand you might not want to use your triggercam while shooting a real match, but I would very much like to see what you see when you're shooting a stage.
I did you shoot Scope on the Palma course of fire? Why not irons?
Because I shoot F-Class so it’s always scoped. Palma course of fire just means you shoot at 800, 900 and 1000 but it can be done with several different types of rifle classes.
@@FClassJohn copy that , how accurate is the V on the electronic scoring ? Ive never shot on the electronic score. Im a Iron Palma guy. Good video, thank you!
@@86309 and of course we shoot f class targets which are half as big on the scoring rings compared to standard high power targets.
So you shot this with 308Win? Would like to see some videos on your reloading for 308. What is your rifle setup (barrel length and twist)? Bullet used? Thanks
Thank you. I was shooting 284win but when shooting electronic targets most matches set the default to .308. It make virtually zero difference in the results but ensures a fair fight without a ton of switching targets back and forth every time there’s a new shooter.
@@FClassJohn thanks. Ye was wondering as most of your videos are for your 284.
@@glockparaastra I get asked that a lot so I think I'll try to make a video showing why and how we use Shotmarkers. It may help everyone who's never shot on one.
@@FClassJohn that would be great, yes. I read 6.5-284 seems like a good option for long range too?
@@glockparaastra I don't know anyone shooting 6.5x284. It's a rod round but a serious barrel burner. In some cases half of 284win.
Velocity wise for ES/SD?
E Targets in general aren't great for accurate velocity/SD/ES numbers because there's factors that limit the accuracy by nature of how it works.
You need therapy, that is spectacular shooting, lighten up, have fun, non of those shots are bad!
Thank you for the kind words and I'll work on lightening up 🤗
April allready? 🥱
Oops. I was getting ahead of myself and already looking forward to next month I guess 😜. It's been corrected, thank you.
