American Royals did a great job with alternate history too, it was more subtle than Wolf by Wolf, but the history buff in me loved how Katharine McGee had an answer for those changes
I didn't even know Booktubers even made these videos anymore! Yes! I always love reading a new fav - it's a magical process, feeling as if you're part of something bigger than yourself and, eventually, bigger than yourself!
Yep. This just confirmed that Lovely War is going to be the next book I buy. I was already so intrigued and I don’t think I’ve seen a single review giving it under 4 stars.
I've said it before and I will say it again, your passion for books and stories in general is addicting. It makes me so happy and I cannot wait to read Lovely War !!
I’m so glad you read and loved Wolf by Wolf and Lovely War! They both are fantastic with such great authors to support. Wolf by Wolf is one of my favorite books and Lovely War was incredibly impactful. Hades was my favorite character in the story. I met Julie Berry in November 2019 and she was so sweet.
I read 15 books in March, which was good. Because of my March Mystery Novel Month, I read just mystery books. So I read 12 mystery books, two books from the Sacconejolys (a UA-cam family in the UK) which was to celebrate Alessia Sacconejoly's 3rd bday on the 30th and a affirmation book called Start Your Day with Katie by Katie Piper, which is a book on qoutes, if that makes any sense. I really enjoyed reading the mystery books, I was hoping to read more but because of the situation in the world, it was stressful, so hopefully April will be a good month ❤❤❤. My favourite book was Sleep by C L Taylor 😘😘
You can't over hype Lovely War! It's absolutely amazing, so well done, and just absolutely perfect in every way! If someone says they don't like it....well they don't have a soul! 💚
The Night Country was honestly so amazing and I loved it so much. I agree that it did some things better than the first book but I loved The Hazel Wood too
My March was NOT a good reading month😅 I only read two books rather than my usual 10-20 books. I was so stressed with everything going on I really didn’t read. This month I have already read a book tho so I’m off to a good start!
Oh my goodness I picked up Lovely War at the bookstore because the synopsis completely captured me and this review of it made me want to read it even more! I lent it to a friend for now but I am so excited to read it! You also definitely convinced me to read Wolf by Wolf, it sounds so fascinating!
I have read both Wolf by Wolf and Lovely war after your recommendation. And yes they are going to be among my all time favourites.Thank you .My heart is full.♥️
A cousin of mine did some family genealogy research and we are kin to Washington and Robert e Lee. I ordered lovely war and can't wait to get my hands on it
When you first started talking about Wolf by Wolf, I thought “oh another boring history focused book” but then after hearing the whole description.. wow! Definitely putting it on my Goodreads TBR, thank you!
Had to get my laptop out while watching this to download Wolf By Wolf (99p at the moment on amazon in the UK) based on your recommendation, Hailey. Ended up downloading/buying 9 other books! Most of them from recommendations from Hailey!
I bought Lovely War when it first came out and haven’t read it yet. I love mythology and historical fiction. The cover is what initially caught my attention. I can’t wait to read it.
I just finished The Thousandth Floor series and am very excited to try American Royals sometime. I think the recent fascination with the American revolution/Hamilton also makes it timely.
Hayley, I have very similar feeling about the Night Country. I listened to the audiobook recently, enjoyed it a lot! I definitely trust your opinions as your taste matches mine so I need to pick up your new faves soon ;)
The "Samantha" scene from Frozen II is even more hilarious in German, bc the name he says (instead of Samantha) is "Hildegard", which is the name of your small, forgetful, and mean 90-yo great-aunt... (at least Samantha is a normal name)
I dont really like the hazelwood, i like first few chapter and it gets boring , and you describe it properly the word is “structure” , i end up returning the book to library .. and reading now circe, and you sold me that lovely war it makes me crave to go out and get the book :p
Hi guys! Hailey you’ve inspired me to make a book channel too! It’s so much fun, but I have no idea how to expand. I would love it if you could pop in just to give me some feedback? Thank you!!!
For American Royals the alternative history part is really bugging me partly due to the fact Congress did offer George Washington a crown but he denied it because he was a humble man. To write history differently you have to take away who George Washington was a man. I think I just don’t handle alternative history well. 😂😂
Also, George Washington and Martha never had kids - the author never explained how THAT changed, which bugged me the most reading the book. This read like a Americanization of a fanfic about The Royals (TV show). I don't understand why more people haven't pointed out the plotholes.
Same here! My friends kept telling me to read it because I love American history and politics, but I feel like my love of history made me enjoy the book less. The whole time I was reading American Royals, I was asking myself why I wasn't just reading real American history.
I’m nervous about Lovely War but I’m game! That sounds so good! Wolf by Wolf when you first explained it a few videos ago I was like ehhhh but I need to read it lol
All Your Twisted Secrets tired me LOL. I was shocked at the ending and then the person who did it just droned on and on and then I stopped caring and then got angry at the ending.
As it seemed that you enjoyed Wolf by Wolf so much I think you'll like a tv series about an alternative history where the Nazi won the war. It's called a The Man in the High Castle. It's SO good and interesting. Beware though that sometimes is pretty difficult to watch.
New subbie here. I really loved lovely War. I agree that it's underrated. It's beautifully written, very well researched. It opened my interest in mythology.
I got Lovely War when I went to a small bookstore in Birmingham and picked it up on whim because of the mythology and GORGEOUS cover. It became one of my favorites of all time and I haven’t seen any booktubers talking about it so I’m so glad you read it and loved it!
You should read A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende - we have the same taste in historical fiction so im sure you’d love it! It follows characters through the Spanish Civil War and Chile’s dictatorship - i learned so much :)) keep being amazing! Xxx
Hello Hailey hope you are doing good.. what is the name of the audio book of Lovely war you listen to.. just for us to download and listen.. with jazz music.. thank you.. I really like your videos..

Just finished reading it inspired by Hailey, AND IT WAS SO GOOD. Keep in mind I'm also a sucker for Greek mythology.

I love how you described American royals as gossip girly because i remember you doing that with the thousandth floor(?) too
I've said it before and I will say it again, your passion for books and stories in general is addicting. It makes me so happy and I cannot wait to read Lovely War !!

I think in Germany Olaf says "Hildegard". I mean, why? We have Samanthas too!😂🙈
I just left a comment about how "Samantha" and "Hildegard" are completely different people. Samantha can be anyone, but Hildegard...?
I have read both Wolf by Wolf and Lovely war after your recommendation. And yes they are going to be among my all time favourites.Thank you .My heart is full.♥️
Your cats give me life 💛😫
Lovely War has been on my tbr for a while now and I am excited to read it after listening to you

Can't believe their's a book with a main character who has my name! I'm gonna read Wolf by Wolf as soon as possible.
I hope I didn’t butcher the pronunciation and sorry if I did 😅
@@HaileyinBookland I'm a Jewish Israeli, Yael is a fairly common name here. You pronounced it correctly.
I bought Lovely War when it first came out and haven’t read it yet. I love mythology and historical fiction. The cover is what initially caught my attention. I can’t wait to read it.

The "Samantha" scene from Frozen II is even more hilarious in German, bc the name he says (instead of Samantha) is "Hildegard", which is the name of your small, forgetful, and mean 90-yo great-aunt... (at least Samantha is a normal name)
Lovely War is now on my to-read list.

I read American Royal's for my school's book club, and it was good, but sometimes I felt that the drama was kind of "messy" to read about
Where did you get that blanket in the background- I love it!
You have single handed sold me on Wolf by Wolf and Lovely War. Do you know if Wolf by Wolf a series or just two books?
It’s a duology. You can read the two books for a wonderful and satisfying adventure with gorgeous writing!
I feel like I hate cheating too much to ever be able to read Lovely War lol.
