I have never liked my house and it is a very small house. We raised our two children here and now they are grown. We paid off our house over two years ago. Suddenly, I not only don’t hate my house so much. In fact I’m quite content. When people ask how I can cook in such a small kitchen, I tell them that a lot of great meals have come out of this little kitchen. Being mortgage free is the best feeling in the world! My husband got laid off just before Christmas and is being forced into early retirement. If our house wasn’t paid for, this would be devastating. We feel like we can totally do this. I love this feeling! Congratulations! You are a great source of inspiration!
Honestly. I hope it becomes a gift to you. I realized, that I would be so much happier if I could spend more time with my husband. So hopefully it will be a good thing for you this change.
Congratulations! I went through the same thing, kids grown, retired (and husband immediately became completely disabled) so it was a Blessing that we worked as hard as we did and paid it off!, some friends said "you should have bought a bigger house, you need a minimum of three bedrooms and a two car garage for resale"!! and we did not, we have been here almost thirty years and house is 850sq ft with two small bedrooms and one car garage and it is "just right" the husband was thinking ahead when we bought it....all one level, no steps (one step up to door) a small front porch with a bench, and he said he was thinking about when we were older, and thank goodness for that! and I have tried and tried to get my two kids to buy a home and they refuse, one lives in a 1bdr apt and pays $900 monthly!!! and that is more than my house payment was, they say they like renting and having a landlord who is a phone call away to fix everything, and I said "do you want to be retired, and having to pay a big chunk of your Social Security every month for rent" that would scare me to pieces! I hear all the bad stories of seniors having to pay rent and utilities and live on foodbank and donations......
I'm 53 and only $3K from paying off my home. I have no other debt. Planning and budgeting and sticking to it really does pay off! I'm looking forward to being debt free myself. Congrats and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all. 💜
When I was 10 (back in 1996) my Dad passed suddenly from cancer. My Mom was left with 3 daughters (14, 14, 10) and was able to use his life insurance to pay off the house. I remember what relief that gave her, and she continues to live in that same home today. My husband and I purchased our first home last year, and I was amazed how just a little extra can make such a huge difference to paying the mortgage down more quickly. It seems so daunting when you see the number at first! Congratulations on being debt free again!
Just that little change can take a months worth of payment off at the end by paying for it in the front end of the loan.. but the banks don't want us to realize this or try to penalize us for doing so, by trying to deduct from the end of payment schedule..... They WANT that interest payment for as long as possible
This happened in my hubby’s family, with kids ages 16, 15, and 7, with mortgage life insurance his mother could pay off the house at least and despite the big drop in income they kept their home. such a blessing.
Congratulations! We raised three kids and were lifetime savers. Almost two years ago, we sold the big house in the suburbs with a big mortgage and downsized to a small house on 1.5 acres in the country. We were able to pay cash for the house and still have money left over. We are learning to grow our own food and live frugally. There's nothing like being debt free with savings!
Good for the two of you. We sold our house of 20 years last summer and have been living in our RV all winter. We are buying a home right next-door to my mother-in-law and have paid cash for it. I am moving there next week. Hubby is coming in a few months. Admittedly, I have never been inside this house, but we’ve known the owners for over 40 years. What a relief to be able to move, knowing that we are still debt-free. Congratulations Bill and Elizabeth!
My husband passed away last September. He worked hard and made sure we were dept free. So now I don’t have to worry about finance. So happy for you. Live your lives and be happy.
Several years ago, my husband was ill and he needed to retire from work, I had money in my 401K and I was able to pay the house off! It’s a wonderful feeling, and such a blessing! So happy for you!
I have been following y'all ever since y'all posted the vid about how to stay warm in your tiny home camper trailer.. I've commented sparingly over the years but I just feel very compelled to let y'all know that I mourn with y'all in mourning, and celebrate with y'all in celebration. I kind of think of y'all as my "youtube parents." And I think all of us out here would be better off if we had people like y'all in our lives. I'm having a rough time today from feeling rough from my vaccine yesterday, and seeing this video brought me some joy to help me get through the day. Thank y'all so much for doing what you do.
I love y’all. You are truly who you say you are. How rare is that? Pretty rare. Happy for you. Sincerely. We, too, own our home and were quite diligent to pay it off. It’s a great freedom, isn’t it? “Owe no man nothing but to love him....” Bravo! Truly happy for you!
September, and my house will be paid for bought it as a brand new build in 2002 drove the same car for years so I could put that extra money on my house to pay it off early. I’m getting antsy to be mortgage free. I tell myself only a few more months but can hardly wait. Just want that feeling of not owning money. I’ve always been a saver and pay for what I buy in cash like furniture and new appliances so I have no credit card debt.. can’t wait to say “It’s paid for”
Isn’t it wonderful you were able to have pop with you all that time as this covid would have stopped all the family getting to see him and he would have been miserable not being able to see his family plus he would not have lasted as long isolated from his family so it’s wonderful to have those lovely memories 💕💕
Paying off your mortgage is like a weight off your back .I paid mine off last year and I dont think I could have imagined what it feels like !Such freedom and such a relief ! Congratulations to the both of you!
100 thumbs up, guys!!! Welcome back again to the “debt free simpletons club”! We learned to live free and simple from my Grandma as kids. She would have approved of you two as much as we do. 😊👍
I really love this channel, i really like Elizabeth.. Shes such a sweetheart and such a wonderful person. I cant tell she has sacrificed alot to get where yall are today and i know you have also Bill, but to have a lady who will do without things to save up money is hard to find these days.. So wonderful! We are debt free at the moment. Husband fighting cancer so who knows what the future holds. God has blessed us in so many ways. We put our faith in the Lord & he guides us. Sorry about pops passing. May God bless & keep you safe.
That's exciting! I have paid off two credit cards this month and now I'm going to work on my student loan, after that car loan, then house! You guys have helped me so much!
We have been debt free for about 10 years. Two years ago I was able to find a 2001 F150 for the amount we got from insurance for a car I totaled. Tomorrow we are hopefully getting a 2002 Excursion by trading in our other car with just a less than half of our tax return money. God is good if you are faithful and listen to his leading.
Many Years ago, when my husband said our house was now paid for, I told him that is the sexiest thing he ever did for me. We severely downsized 6 years ago into a small home and have no regrets. We are also debt free. I love your UA-cam channel.
Congrats! I It is a wonderful feeling when you owe nothing to anyone. I've lived completely debt free for years and have been able to weather all of life's storms rather easily even though I have a very limited income.
Paid our house off when I was in my early 50's. Pushing 80 now and we've been tidally debt free for many years. Great feeling for us old folks in these troubled times.
"I don't want to promise away future income because I don't know if I will earn that income." Wow!!! That was such a profound statement. Everyone should look at their finances through the lens of that statement. That alone would eliminate so much debt and bring impulse decisions to a screeching halt. Congratulations on being debt free again.

There is nothing on this earth that feels as good as being debt free, or close to it. Debt can destroy your health, your relationships, your marriage, your credit, your self-esteem, your motivation, your emotional stability and your sanity. We went and applied for the "senior citizen discount" on our property taxes and went from $900 a year to $198, and I inquired about the house insurance, but they said they dont do discounts on homeowners ins, you can even get senior discounts on some utilities if you apply, they have it where we live and you can get reduced rates if your income is below the amount required.
We pay property taxes twice a year and insurance once a year. But we do have the senior citizen discount for the property taxes. It cut our property tax in half. Right now, we pay a little over 600.00 every six months. My husband and I decided when we paid our house off, we would open a separate account just for paying property tax. We put a set amount of money into it every month so that by the time the tax and insurance is due, the money is there. It works for us.
We became debt free 4 years ago right before I retired. It has given us so much piece of mind and allowed us to really embrace retirement. We can help our children out more and we are really looking forward to being able to travel again!!
HAPPY 4 YOU!!! I honestly sense that people who 'try' to Love and Honor 'Him' with right living, are being 'guided' through this time of an End. It is PRECISELY with the attitude of GRATITUDE and turning towards 'Simplicity' that freedom comes. This is NOT a time where one needs more stress. I thank-you most kindly for sharing your lovely, blessed, RICH life with us. But I tend to differ on your saying that beloved 'Pops' was frugal. He spent quite a bit on his visits to his 'friend' "Wendy" (LOL). Ah Pops...we love and miss you...enjoy your eternal rest in blissful peace. God Bless you n' yours. :)
Hello Elizabeth and Bill. I'm just catching up on your videos. WOW! Congratulations on paying off your house. I'm so happy...again...for you! Bravo! I'm encouraged with each video of yours. Stay well and debt free 💖🎉
We are debt free too. We have 40 acres, homes, barns which we so enjoy. It is such a blessing of the Lord. We know several Christians who got THEIR parents out of the assisted living for what they thought (?) were other reasons. But GOD knew what was going to happen in just a month or two - covid. Now they are all happy and together and safe, rejoicing over God’s GOODNESS just as ya’ll were blessed to have all that time your precious Dad.
There is no better feeling to have your home paid for, and be debt free! My husband ,and I have always worked toward that goal, and succeed!! So happy for you both!!
Congratulations! Your debt free approach to life is an inspiration. I'm so glad that you were able to give Pops the time there at the "little house." All the best to you always!
Congratulations! I did the same savings plan, paid off my home and retired debt free. I’m still saving and enjoying life without worry. God blessed us and I’m so thankful and grateful. Have a wonderful weekend.
This particular video popped up on my you tube feed today and is more valuable now than it was a year ago Especially with inflation , supply chain shortages , high gas prices and people being priced out of the housing market You have been blessed by the hand of God with discernment and the ability to rise gracefully from any set back May God continue to bless you both in continuing to share info that can show others the path to comfort
Congratulations on again being debt free! Having the mortgage paid off is such a wonderful feeling. I live in Ma, am 72, and just lost my husband this past Jan. And now the taxes are going up a lot. Paid every third month (quarterly), so almost like having a mortgage again on every third month. Sure am glad the mortgage is paid off! I'm so happy for you.
So sorry. Losing him must be so hard. Taxes can still be high, but it does make such a difference that there is no mortgage to also deal with! Praying that Jesus will bring you strength and comfort.
Congratulations to you guys! So happy for you. 🙏 Crazy thing is I just went to my bank today and sent by wire to payoff my own house today. A couple more medical bills and will be debt free too. Thank you for being such a great role model for me. I appreciate y’all more than you will ever know. God bless!!

Right? And especially it makes a giant difference if you start paying more right away. Because it takes down the interest paid exponentially.

Right now, we pay a little over 600.00 every six months. My husband and I decided when we paid our house off, we would open a separate account just for paying property tax. We put a set amount of money into it every month so that by the time the tax and insurance is due, the money is there. It works for us.
Well Done ! We are also debt free. thanks for the video!
Thank you for leaving Pop in the intro. You are all 💖💖💖 by Me very much. God Bless You🙏🙏🙏
Congratulations on paying off your house. I am going to miss Pops... what a beautiful soul. May the Lord continue to bless you both.
Heading to the debt free seminar
Praise God. Thank you!
Were debt free too! Thanks be to God! What a glorious feeling. Congratulations!
That’s amazing! I watched your videos about becoming debt-free. Just wanted you to know that I am almost there with my credit card and celebrating to!
Congratulations for the great accomplishment of being debt free AGAIN! what an inspiration to so many. I am so looking forward to downsizing.
There is no better feeling to have your home paid for, and be debt free! My husband ,and I have always worked toward that goal, and succeed!! So happy for you both!!
Congratulations ! Smiles all around. I'm happy for you both. Peace.
Congratulations! Your debt free approach to life is an inspiration. I'm so glad that you were able to give Pops the time there at the "little house."
All the best to you always!
Love you two! You are so honest and down to earth and with such wisdom. I wish we were neighbors. I'm thankful that you share your lives and wisdom.
Congratulations! I did the same savings plan, paid off my home and retired debt free. I’m still saving and enjoying life without worry. God blessed us and I’m so thankful and grateful. Have a wonderful weekend.
This particular video popped up on my you tube feed today
and is more valuable now than it was a year ago
Especially with inflation , supply chain shortages , high gas prices and people being priced out of the housing market
You have been blessed by the hand of God with discernment
and the ability to rise gracefully from any set back
May God continue to bless you both in continuing to share info that can show others the path to comfort
Congratulations on being debt free again Bill and Elizabeth! .you two are an inspiration to all of us.!
Congratulations to you guys! So happy for you. 🙏
Crazy thing is I just went to my bank today and sent by wire to payoff my own house today. A couple more medical bills and will be debt free too. Thank you for being such a great role model for me. I appreciate y’all more than you will ever know. God bless!!
You gotta a good man, Elizabeth, so handy and helpful. I went with someone at one time and he couldn't hammer a nail. He broke everything he touched. Change a light bulb, broke the bulb, for example. O could go on and on, you know what I mean. But bill, you have a good person, too.
Congratulations!! We became debt free in January. Everything is paid for and the credit cards get paid off every month! Feels sooooo good!

It is a great feeling isn't it! We paid ours off about 2 1/2 years ago and the feeling is great. God bless you all and praise God for you!
Condolences and Congratulations. We are following your good example working on paying off our house. It's our only debt.
