I always told my students, I don't care what religion, color, nationality, sexual orientation, culture, profession, etc. someone is or is part of. It doesn't matter if they are purple with yellow polka dots. In every "group" there are people who try to do good every day, people who try to do harm every day with most of us in the middle trying to do our best each day, some days succeeding and other days failing. The best we can do is try to be honest with ourselves, realize when we mess up and learn from it and that just because someone is in a certain "position" or "group" does not make them right or wrong all the time. We need to look at each individual, each situation and use our critical thinking to analyze the situation. Do not judge an entire group by a few. If you see a situation in your group, society, world, that needs changing, then do your best to change it and realize there may not be an easy or quick answer.
Sadly cops don't prevent murder robbery or crazies and they rarely solve thise cases. I don't know what the answers is but the one we've been using isn't working either.

100%! These people choose to be in positions where great power and responsibility is expected! I don’t like the babying and wording of “Bad apples” either. These are grown adults that choose to be in a position of power, so when they fuck up, don’t expect everyone to go Kumbaya.
Start by making the academy longer. The cadets go through an 8 week program. Seems to me that 8 weeks isnt long enough to be trained for one of the most challenging and intensive jobs in the country. I think longer and more complex training would be a step in the right direction. Also they need to learn more about the state and federal laws on the books in thier perspective municipalities.
I agree as someone from the UK it amazes me your police train for such a short period, I think by comparison our police train for 3 years some of that being on the job training.
I agree with you on this Vic, but to be fair, "defund the police" doesn't mean to not fund police forces at all. It means that we don't give cops military-grade equipment like we have been doing. There is absolutely no reason for a police officer to have military-grade equipment. Cops need to deal with crime. When it comes to things they're not trained to do, like deal with the mentally ill, or with autistic individuals, there should be another agency funded to take care of that. I dunno--call 912 instead of 911, and you get a psychologist or social worker or something. Lately, cops seem to be too quick on the draw, whether it's a gun or a taser. Those aren't the only ways to deal with things. I got pulled over a couple of years ago on the interstate, because a cop was behind me (no lights or sirens-I didn't even notice him until he put on his lights to pull us over). My teenage daughter was in the car, and she was TERRIFIED. She was afraid that the cop would shoot one of us. For a TRAFFIC stop. Because he wanted us out of his way and it was too much trouble for him to go around (I was in the right lane). That's how bad it's gotten. (To put it into perspective, we are white females. If anyone has no reason to fear a cop, it's us...but my daughter was still *literally* stiff with fear and almost crying). I personally know plenty of good cops, and I will defend them. But I don't believe in shielding the bad ones. A criminal is a criminal, even if they have a badge or are a politician. The same rules should apply across the board.
Yes they really should have to because a lot of these cops become cops just so they can harass people and bully them and push them around! That makes it super bad for the good ones!! A lot of these guys are bullies from school and then they continue to carry it over into their adult life
If everyone did what they were supposed to do, treat everyone like they would be treated, and Respect other people, then we WOULDN'T need police. So if you want someone to Blame, Society, Look In The Mirror....
Some good points I don't think the dentist analogy is great because those are isolated incidents and are not part of a flawed culture or result from improper training. Also, there are statistics that show an officer's job is not as dangerous as some other professions.
Actually the other three were just standing in a line and chauvis was just kneeling on his neck while a woman was recording him and he was looking right at the camera and cops always say dont record us and they never took her phone away or nothing 😂😂
Vic, I'm having difficulty with your idea/reasoning for cops to avoid dangerous situations that may occur when pulling over someone for let's say a broken tail light because it could potentially escalate. If a broken tail light stop escalates I doubt it's because of the cop. If you're going to talk about law enforcement "changing with the times" you better first start with a refresher course for folks that don't know how to behave when being questioned by the law.
Very refreshing. We need more rational middle of the road people. I'm tired of hearing people pick sides on everything. Long live independent middle of the road thinkers. This one earned you a new subscriber.
Well said Vic ... I really wish some people would look at it like you stated ... however that would only be in a perfect world ... on that token I couldn’t have chopped it up better than you have ... perfect way to look at this whole situation Vic ... I salute you
Need to get rid of implied immunity for police officers and increase penalties for criminals up and to including the death penalty for rape robbery burglary.....etc
I am a fan of the channel and I respect your opinion. But as someone engaged in community service and work with law enforcement on a regular basis, I have to say that people are misrepresenting the facts. Here in my state and even in Minnesota where the Chauvin incident happened there are community groups that do this work regularly. I chronicled my states “police reform” measures since 2011, but the incidents of Officer Involved Shootings has not significantly improved. We had the Department of Justice come down to review procedures and advise them on implementations. The officers pushed back on several recommendations such as changing training procedures and interviewing witnesses after a OIS. Police Unions have significant bargaining power and able in more than 90% of cases get police officers off. They intentionally instructed officers to not speak to IA investigators, petitioned for the cop involved in the OIS shooting to be able to see the body cam footage BEFORE they made a statement which helped them “line up” their story with whatever helps, and officers have known about a lag of approximately 30 seconds on their body cams so they strategically turn them on and off at certain points. The probe started in 2011 and of all the implementations, the officers endorsed training changes but none of the suggestions for HOW to investigate OIS which is crucial in prosecuting and holding “bad” cops accountable. Minnesota’s community group highlighted the reforms to the police since the police departments inception. When appearing before my state legislature, I had used this as a blueprint to understand what reforms have been applied and what haven’t. We are still having OIS. Even with that the police budget has consistently ballooned from getting up to a cool $600 million this last year. Even though metro officers were recorded and found destroying homeless encampments plus collecting homeless people who they dump on community organizations. I gave consistently seen the extreme resistance to change and to holding officers accountable. I deal with the fallout after officers drop off homeless youth who are in need of housing. I’ve even seen the treatment of them. Defunding the police is to take all the money that is just applied to the police budget and to allocate it to resources that are trained in dealing with certain populations. Mental health calls are dictated by police on whether a social worker is activated. We have one here in our state, but there is tremendous pushback from cops at these scenes in dealing with these groups. Police hold most of the bargaining power through unions. Not even teachers were able to successfully fight to save themselves from reopening schools while cases spiked in our state. Our state also cut the budget for homeless services, education (nearly 40%), healthcare, and other resources. We were setting up our own community pantries and getting volunteers to disperse aid. But the police budget was the one sector that grew during this time. Abolish is to eliminate law enforcement altogether. But that is also rooted in the fact that police don’t show up till AFTER a crime. And Beau of the fifth column has outlined FBI statistics on the police solve rate for homicide and other violent crimes. Most of law enforcement is enforcing traffic violations, writing tickets, and moving the homeless as well as the mentally ill population in a constant cycle of incarceration. Sorry if this post is long, but people asking for defunding have been collecting and cataloguing the issues with law enforcement for years. We have been stuck in this cycle of reform, reform, and reform that led up to George Floyd’s death. Police officers here fought HARD in the legislature to oppose a ban on choke holds even when State Troopers who are training officers said we don’t teach our people this move cause it can be mishandled in so many ways. You still had plenty of cops push back like no this NEEDS to be part of our training. So my question what do you do with cops not wanting to implement any measures of change or get rid of qualified immunity which is funded by taxpayers. Defund and abolish are two different things, defund is reimagine the police but police are fighting that reform. Even though more resources means less of them having to go on calls where I’ve heard them say we aren’t social workers. I am a social worker and I can see our budgets has been slashed consistently. But police like I said have always came out with MORE funds. That’s how they afford all that military grade equipment. So yes it is a complicated subject. But I would in any other profession is totally acceptable to have these practices and having them be the authority on their own conduct. Families sue social workers, families sue doctors and nurses. But law enforcement has the ability to unilaterally deny any of those actions. Even when settlements are paid out, it’s using taxpayer dollars. Hence their huge budget.
I believe defunding the police and reallocating those funds to other social services that can better deal with situations like mental health and poverty are the way to go. The relationship that police have with minorities in this country has always been adversarial. We don't feel the same safety others feel around them. Police unions will never hold those "Bad Cops" accountable. They are routinely seen escalating situations at the slightest sign of disrespect and are never held to account. Simple reform won't do it. They must be rebuilt from the ground up and qualified immunity must be removed. Plus settlements involving police brutality should be taken out of their budget, not paid for by everyone else.
Something the good cops need to start discussing amongst themselves is whether or not they are going to continue to be complicit in the crimes that other cops 'bad cop's commit that I'm a witness to, or have knowledge of. Out here in society where they work it's not a made for TV show, it's real people, and often, if they stretch their minds a bit, those people are their neighbors who's lives and life itself is dependent on cops honoring their oaths of service. Stop treating your neighborhood you patrol as combat zones, and you fail personal integrity when you don't stand up to criminals within your own who commit crimes while wearing the badge. If you want to be considered by the rest of society, and in fact yourself, a good cop, you'll fight crime wherever it exist. That's being human.
The crux of this situation is that we have people ON BOTH SIDES aren't willing to come to the middle and provide solutions. Compassion Accountability Respect Equality, that's a CARE act we the people should strive for.

QUIT PERIOD i dont wana hear excuses why your lazy ass dont want to do real work. this is real life not a fucking movie or game where you can reset.
if we end qualified immunity, that alone will stop a majority of the bad cops, because the good one will police themselves, and we the people will have a say (jury) of any bad apple cop. we need our "leaders"/politicians to stop the biggest gang in america, they can do this by ending immunity......one law----ends most of it right away...guaranteed.
100%! These people choose to be in positions where great power and responsibility is expected! I don’t like the babying and wording of “Bad apples” either. These are grown adults that choose to be in a position of power, so when they fuck up, don’t expect everyone to go Kumbaya.
@@keything8487 i agree 100% its a fucking joke thats even a thing
@@maxcelestin2446 .....it needs to end...no other job, i know of, military included has it !!
Well said, Vic! Thanks for your common sense and intellect on this issue!
They have to go through long enough rigorous training here in Ontario and testing afterwards. It should be! Background check the whole works.
The NYPD Academy is *6 MONTHS.* After which they get field training. Their probationary period is 24 months.
Truer words have never been spoken. Great PSA Vic.
Best thing I herd all day
You always say the right thing. I don't see how people get mad at what you say
you are like the one vlogger that actually can see both sides rationally. vic for president 2024
Vic needs a sound booth so he can really let it rip. Solid words Vic.
In my Opion cops have major PTSD
I have thought for a long time that police recruits should have to pass a psychiatric evaluation before being allowed to become police.
Yes they really should have to because a lot of these cops become cops just so they can harass people and bully them and push them around! That makes it super bad for the good ones!! A lot of these guys are bullies from school and then they continue to carry it over into their adult life
I like that he wasn't screaming in this one...it suited the message. I appreciate you taking a stab at this issue sir! Very well said.
End the stupid War On Drugs.
If everyone did what they were supposed to do, treat everyone like they would be treated, and Respect other people, then we WOULDN'T need police. So if you want someone to Blame, Society, Look In The Mirror....
Great PSA, great message,
intelligently presented!! Thanks Vic,you are a great American 🇺🇸💪🇺🇸✌😎✊
Thank you Vic for being a voice of reason! Some people should not cops!
Some good points
I don't think the dentist analogy is great because those are isolated incidents and are not part of a flawed culture or result from improper training.
Also, there are statistics that show an officer's job is not as dangerous as some other professions.
It’s the trickle down of our society. This is a cop that shouldn’t have been on the street, and a criminal that shouldn’t have been on the street.
Very well done. I'll agree, why do cops do a high speed chase for the tail light? take the picture mail the ticket.
Well said and on point. God bless.
Well said Vic ... I really wish some people would look at it like you stated ... however that would only be in a perfect world ... on that token I couldn’t have chopped it up better than you have ... perfect way to look at this whole situation Vic ... I salute you

Hey Man , this is the best explanation of this subject I have ever heard. Outstanding. Cheers Man.
Right on! I hope others see things in this light.
Need to get rid of implied immunity for police officers and increase penalties for criminals up and to including the death penalty for rape robbery burglary.....etc
Why don't you have your own TV show? I mean seriously. You need call it "Keeping it Real with Vic"
Somebody should send this to Congress.........
F-ing Brilliant. Period.
You're rocking the Walmart duds Vic...
And you’re a reason why nothing will ever change in this country.
@@nygrasshole Lighten up snowflake. David was just joking around. It's called a joke.
What a beautifully put and perfectly well said rant. Intelligent and caring. Doesn't get better than that. Thank you for being for the people Vic.
Thankyou again
