Recently diagnosed with mitochondrial disease and didn't realize I had double vision. I described it as blurry vision. When a patient hears double vision we feel that means we would see 2 of a thing so 2 distinct figures of the dr we are talking to. I didn't realize the 2 are closer together so what I describe as blurry is I see the letters on a street sign and what looks like someone traced the letters on a clear plastic and moved it so there are the floating letters above the other letters. Apartment this is double vision but I described it as blurry so communication is important to help the patient accurately describe what's going on

so now we have an explanation for why children with autism do not look at the eyes, close one eye, or are hypo and/or hyper-sensitive. thank you
