A super update to your super review of the less-than-super 4070 Ti Super.
A super 4070 ti super for a super high price.
@@kpg10seems that many manke a super pass on this super 4070 tie super
I still going to buy it.
@@Xilent1 meh. For that cash? 800+200 and you've got a 4080..super. But have fun, they are all good cards.
@@nathanaelniklaus2981 I agree. Might as well at this price point. I'm coming from a 6700xt. Both would be a significant upgrade, but yeah, might as well just get the 4080 SUPER. The Black Edition looks does look clean
Making mistakes is human. This is exactly the correct way to handle them once you are aware of them. Thanks for your dedication to accuracy.
Remember the recent Linus fiasco. That was a dumpster fire.
The mistake was letting Nvidia interfere with his review

The cheapest 4070Ti Super (in Australia) is $1499. For $70 more you can get a 4080. I think you would be crazy not to get the 4080.

Where are you getting a 4080 for $1,569? Cheapest I've found is $110 more than that.
@@Souls4Roca The cheapest listed by StaticIce AU is $1650

Do you know what makes me happy? That Steve has his taskbar left aligned in Windows 11. The only sane option.

Well done! It's how you admit and deal with mistakes that sets you above many other channels.
They already knew about it in the previous video though but released it anyway because MUH UA-cam MONEY. Thats not integrity.
Just because you believe so, it doesn't make it true. It's simply a projection. @@haewymetal
@@haewymetal You know, they explained that in the last video, but i don't think it's because muh integrity/ gotta make money. While making making money is objectively a part of it, I think it's the time and effort that was put into making the previous video and not wanting to scrap the entire project.
Just to top it all off, there wasn't even that much of a difference, practically negligible. 😅
Releasing the review wasn't a mistake, we verified the margins to be insignificant. The specs table was our mistake. Try to be cool @haewymetal.

I can only imagine how frustrating it is to work for several days only to, last minute, receiving notification there's a problem with a GPU which may invalidate all the results. Thanks to the extra work and clarification with this update video.
What's important isn't the fact that the mistake was made. But that you're ready to make an entirely new video to correct it. Good job guys.
Still very disappointed with this 4070 Tie Super. It should've had 320W TDP.
Do you mean that adding a note in the description in the video(that is hidden by default) isn't enough?
@@braien334 yes
Actually every single retail card has a 300W TDP. Equal of the RX 7900 XT.
Only time mistakes matter a lot is if it’s a regular occurrence or they completely undermine your reputation. This is neither.
I def want to get a card with a 300 or less TDP next time I upgrade. My 3080 12gb strix card is great, but the tdp is nuts. 390w out of the box, 450 oc’ed. it kicks out soo much heat it’s shocking tbh.
Kudos to you Steve and Co.
After spending that much time and effort on a review, particularly with so much hardware being released of late, it must be immensely frustrating to have errors pop up in the testing/specs and then to have to make corrections and essentially double handle the review.
I, and I'm sure many others are appreciative of the transparency as accuracy of these reviews. Especially since many use them for their purchasing decisions.
🙂

Its not an easy job but someone's got to do it. Better you than me.
Why would you even upgrade so fast in the first place? Unless you needed something like a 4090 or 7900xtx with more vram for say cgi or something. I don’t think these products are made for someone with a card from this gen. They are made for someone upgrading from say a 20 series in my opinion. I always skip a generation. Just not worth it to upgrade every gen? I’m honestly just asking why you’d think about upgrading this year?

16-18 hour work days for a week for two GPU releases? I knew these GPU reviews required a lot of work but I didn't realize it was that much. Really puts it into perspective how much testing and stuff this is
Because Windows is a bitch that triggers all sorts of "house-hold" tasks in the background at random times he needs to do a minimum of 3 runs for each game, each GPU and each resolution. If one run differs significantly from the others, he discards the result and does another run.
Add to this that he uses fresh date for each review because there has always been updates to Windows, the drivers or the games in the interim.
For 15 GPUs, 24 games (14 raster, 10 RT), 2 resolutions and 3 runs, that is 15x24x2x3=2160 benchmark runs assuming no duds. With an average of 30 seconds per run that is 18 hours in benchmark runs alone.
That's right, but also testing is just part of it. We spend almost a day working on the b-roll/footage for those videos, then half a day writing the script, and then half a day to a full day editing. A ship load of work goes into this content.
@@Hardwareunboxed Massive amount of respect for all your hard work. Thanks for trying to get it right. Hope you guys are getting some well deserved rest
One of the guys who pointed out some of the errors in the initial table here.
Thanks for responding with a proper correction like this. Many other youtube channels would have just ignored it. This sort of thing is why you are my number 1 source for hardware benchmarks, as I know that you want to make the information you provide as accurate as possible, and you put in the effort to do it.
Good afternoon, which version of the drivers were tested on? 551.23 came out yesterday. They announced the addition of 4070 ti super support. Has the driver update affected performance in any way?
Much respect for your hard work !
I think some will sell anyways due to the fanboy hype we are faced with making reasonable prices impossible. To me the price per performance is not making any sense for current gens. Only the 6700 XT is somewhat reasonable. But it also got only 12 GB VRAM. The 7800 XT should cost as much a this gpu. Than we would have a star gpu.
People need to avoid the current gen if they want to have reasonable prices for the upcoming one.
At lot of outlets didn’t have the reduced cache as Nvidia revised it on release sides. Thanks for being part of that correction. Tom’s hardware messed it up with their review and still have it posted. This is why it’s closer to the 4070ti.
Was in the same boat with my launch review and this card! Weirdly I saw next to no improvement even with the second firmware update which I assume was meant to totally the underperformance so maybe my sample was a good one as you say with decent silicon.
I got the MSI Gaming X Trio, does the MSI problem affect this GPU as well?
Get some rest too Steve ❤
Another personal doctor here.
Glad the corrections were made.
Thank you for this update! - I have a suggestion though. Please consider including at the end of review videos, a _specific mention_ of checking for pinned comment for any "essential amendments or corrections" (or something like that).
The data indicates only rougly 1-2% of viewers _engages_ with comments, and the percentage _reading_ them (unprompted) isn't much bigger. Reviews in particular also draws a lot of new and casual viewers, for whom videos like this one that have been uploaded later on, is much less likely to show up on their radar. So adding a 2-3 second sentence about "check pinned comment" could IMO save you many hours of work, and help ensure a much larger portion of viewers become aware and informed when snafoos _do_ happen.
Thanks for the update/correction, and for all your hard work.
Thanks, Steve 👍
So still terrible value compared to the base 4070Ti in the Australian market. Seeing 4070Tis go for as low as $1060 when the cheapest 4070Ti Supers are $1400+. Unless you're using this card for 4K (for which it seems somewhat underwhelming), can't see how you can justify the price.
For the US market, seems to make a lot more sense.
Don't know what maths you are using but most of the 4070Ti supers are listed around $850 US some simple maths $850US at 65cAu = $1308 plus GST of 10% takes you to $1438. remember the Yanks don't include their taxes in retail price which is stupid, whereas we do.
Bro, if it's true, then 💀
Even in Russia prices are better(atleast in my city). Because in my city it goes for like 103,000 to 115,000 rubles, which translates into like uhm 1,100-1,250$.
I do mean our salaries must be lower, but still.
Sales tax in the US average ~7% depending on the state. Some states have zero sales tax.@@zorbakaput8537
@@zorbakaput8537 There’s a very significant difference between “what the cheapest cards go for” and “what most cards go for”. You’re comparing the lowest end pricing in Australia to “mid tier” card pricing in the us. Also, your conversion rate is a bit higher than what google says, it’s more like 1287 in aud before taxes for an 850$ usd card.
The actual math is 800$ for the lowest end 4070tiS in the us, which comes out to ~1211 aud. That becomes ~1332.95 after a 10% tax. Quite a bit less than what you arrived at, as well as the actual pricing you see in Australia.
Sales tax confuses the issue massively. The reason the US doesn’t include sales tax is at least partly because it varies from state to state. Europe and the UK run at 20% sales tax, I don’t know about elsewhere, but the odds are it’s different again. Different regions often require to include sales tax in the price, or in other regions *not* include the sales tax in the price.
There are price differences even accounting for that. Some of them are even valid. Shipping costs vary depending on distance. Shipping costs vary according to market size - if you ship 100,00 units, it’s cheaper per unit than if you ship 10,000. But the price to us is normally much closer than it first appears globally, minus things like retail scalping, or just straight up scalping.
Thanks for clearly discussing this. Even though you covered the small difference between the two cards in the previous review some people aren't happy without seeing the methodology and I get that.
Nice corrections ! :-D You should put [Outdated] at the begining of the titile of the old review
Congrats on the 1m subs guys!
Would still love you guys to call out 4080 Super pricing in Australia given we are paying 20% above the USA
Someone must pay for no inflation in the US
Look at prices in Europe, same stuff
@@angrynimbus270 I think it might be literally cheaper to buy from Newegg US and pay for shipping and taxes on arrival then the store around the corner 🤷♂️
Good solution if it works for you
@@givemeanaccountdamit This used to be viable, but not anymore. Newegg used to offer free international shipping on orders > 350 USD but this no longer appears to be the case, and anything > 1000 AUD gets slapped with a 5% import duty by ABF. Which wasn't so much of an issue in the past when only the top end was > 1000 AUD, but these days even mid range is > 1000 AUD. So between the shipping charge, GST and import duty, you're likely better off just getting it from a local retailer.

I appreciate your quick update here Steve. Thank you for your work.
Should I get a 4070 ti super (855 $ where i live) or a Rx 7900 xt ( 875 $ where I live) ?
In Australia, this costs the same as a used 4080 or about $400 more than a 4070 ti. If you think you’ll upgrade sometime in the next 3 years, it’s honestly just better to get a 4070 ti whilst they’re cheap and upgrade to a 6070 with 16 or (hopefully) 24 gigs of vram in the future.

I'm currently building my PC. I'm going to be be partial to msi when I buy my gpu (thinking to get a 4080S when it launches) since my mobo and cpu cooler are high quality by them also. I also used an msi 1660ti for the past 5 years and never had an issue. Does this mean that the msi gpus are different and would underperformance from them be a reason to get a different brand? Also, is there any benefit for building with PC components of similar brands and dates of manufacturing?
Why would you get that when you can spend less and buy a 7900XTX that dominates it? I have a 4080 and there's no way I'd recommend someone spending similar money to get far less performance

The more I read about those new GPUs, the more im happy that I just got myself a 6800 XT.
Only concern is maybe that the 7800 XT wouldve allowed AV1 hardware encoding. But the only place that really matters is my VR headset, which does only AVC or HEVC streaming, so 6000 GPUs are pretty good for that. Better than Nvidia in 4K, funnily enough.
The AV1 hardware encoding on RDNA3 is broken. If the input stream isn't 64x16 aligned, it won't work properly. They even have a hack for 1080p input where they output 1082p padded with two black lines to get an output.
@@Aluminium-Can I tried responding with links to the various GH issues / wiki's / direct comments by AMD staff, but I think it gets auto-deleted as spam protection? Here's a quote from AMD staff:
"It is embarrassing and sorry to report that this AV1 issue is a confirmed HW problem in this VCN generation (VCN4), the problem will be fixed in next VCN generation, and for VCN4, it is required to have the alignment of 64x16 as mentioned in this ticket description. And for the common 1080 height case, to minimize the impact, we adopted an idea to use a HW trick which happens to use the closest height 1082 instead of 1080, which is the reason you see 1082 for the 1080p cases."
Search for "amd 64x16" to find information. There's an open issue about it on the GPUOpen GitHub and a description of the migitation in the GPUOpen Wiki, and AMD staff have commented directly on the Mesa issue.

I've considered minimum 16 GB VRAM/ 256 bit for 1440p.
Basic videocard for my parameters is 7800XT 16 GB $500 ($5.05 per frame)
The next league are
1) 7900XT 20 GB - $730 Sapphire PULSE ($5.74 per frame ) 2 days ago price was - $710 ($5.57 per frame)
Total: +13.6% cost/frame & +46%($230) total cost.
2) 4070 Ti Super 16 Gb $800 - ($6.45 per frame)
Total: +28% cost/frame & +60%($300) total cost.
After making a balanced choice, I bought 7800XT 16 GB in the best implementation Sapphire NITRO+.
PS: I do not like low input lag of DLSS or FSR and also RT because it turns any surface into a mirror and takes 20-40% of the performance. The industry took a wrong turn when it began to measure who could generate more fake frames.
great job. no one puts the work in like you guys

What i really like about hardware unbox review is that they always show the previous last 2 generation card for nvidia and amd. You can see how is your current card perform vs the latest card. This could be buying decision if your card still ok or not with current games out there. As always good job
Anyone buying these "super" cards at those prices is just crazy to me. At this point just wait a little bit for the 5000 series, these 4000 super series are minor updates on expensive, old gpu's.
When 5000 series comes to market with 20% more speed and 25% higher price. These 4000 series will get 10% price cut to sweeten the deal!

i guess the rumors of the 4070 ti super being performance capped by nvidia wasn't false after all.
With such a performance gain, this video card is simply pointless😥
If you go 4070 Ti to Ti Super, yes, it's pointless. Going from a 1080? It should be awesome.
@@paradoxicalcat7173 not really since 5000 is near now so why get old gen ?
@@Oliver-sn4be 50 series isn't out yet, if you want something NOW, it's a good value. also we don't know yet what their price/performance will be.
I do not envy you folks that work in this field. As much fun as it would be getting to play with everything from the lower end of the hardware spectrum to the bleeding edge would be, compiling all the data and doing all the testing you folks do is BONKERS. I have heard it said and said it myself, that many UA-camrs do not deserve to be paid for the "work" they do to post their videos. However, you folks that bust your butts to get us the most accurate data possible, I salute you all. And I know many of you enjoy what you do, and that is a great thing.
Thanks for the fix.
Appreciate the update, Steve.
Anyway, while this card is underwhelming when compared to many others on the market, I still feel it'll be a worthwhile upgrade for someone like me who has been using he 1080ti for many years and got a lot of mileage out of it. Sure, I could get the 4080 instead for slightly more (in the Australian market), I'm not sure if it'll be okay for me to get since I replaced my old PSU with another 750w one and I'm not sure if I wanna replace that one so soon (especially since it was a non-modular one, which I'll explain in a moment).
(I replaced my PSU out of panic when my computer wasn't working, only to realise that it wasn't the PSU, it was the motherboard that died. In hindsight, I should have gotten a modular 850w PSU but as they all say, mistakes can happen).
don't do it bro. Wait for next series. These are overpriced and underwhelming just like the 2000 series were
@@Ericozzz That's the problem.
I can't wait any longer as some of the games I've played (like Apex Legends and The Finals) keep blacking out on my screen and I feel it'll continue if I play anything else that is just as demanding.
(And it can't be a CPU related issue since I had it replaced with a new one along with the new motherboard.)
I'd wait for the 5xxx series.
amd is better
1080Ti is the card that refuses to become e-waste. It’s phenomenal for its age. Arguably one of Nvidias most expensive mistakes.
It's mad they stuck with 48MB L2 on the 4070 Ti Super, should've seen something of an uplift to actually get the expected uplift toward the 4080.
Why would they want to cannibalize sales on the 4080/4080S that much more?
Did i understand right... The tuf have the same.... Issue as the ventus cards and need a BIOS Update?
just got an open box 4070ti for a good price it hits between 23-24k in 3dmark and the temps are good since its a big OL cooler design for that smol pcb. I had a large feeling these cards werent going to show their "GAP" outside of AGING....into a FUTURE API DX12U/UE5 gaming landscape...by then ill just sell the 4070ti and upgrade to a newer gen card around then ill be doing a full platform upgrade anyways. Sure id like a bit more VRAM so i can get a 34" oled and a second LG nano 27" to run triples for a racing sim setup...but id rather send some budget towards a wheel/pedal setup and actually get some time with that setup before i consider something like the 400$ price difference between my 4070ti and a beefy AIB 4080s. PLUS the higher tier 4070s like the master already cost around what i spent on my 4070ti....bc im not much of a fan of trying to push a 4070S to 300-350w to do what my gpu does at 100 less watts. Nor am i willing to spend 100$+ msrp for a BEEFY/OC aib 4070ti super when the performance/cost implications dont warrant 200$ of added performance.
wow this 2% changes everything. i will now confidently rush out to buy to a 4070 ti super.

What will give more frames. core i5 13600K+RTX 3070 or core i5 13500+RTX 4070? Right now I have an i5 13500+RTX 3070. Thinking about to upgrade CPU or GPU. Current resolution 1080p(144hz) and may be upgrade to 1440p(144/165hz) or just buy 4k TV for single player titles and stick to the current monitor for FPS online games like Battlefield & Apex Legends. Need suggestions.
You will barely notice the performance increase, go with a 4k TV.
Is this supposed to be a real question? First of all, don't waste money on the piece of garbage 4070: it's overpriced and mediocre. You can literally spend hundreds less and get a 7800XT that will dominate it.
Second of all, go look at the charts. The 4070 is 26% faster at 1440p vs a 3070.
@@rustler08 actually I just written 4070. I might get 4070Ti super or 4080. Then what would be better route?
@@gorfaroth4570what would be better between i3 13500+4080 or 13600K +3070 ?
Thank you for doing an update to make sure you provide accurate information, that’s what makes us trust you
TL;DR - It's still shit
Compared to what? I'm thinking of getting one to replace my 1080. 16 Gb VRAM is double what I have now. Be smart with graphics settings, and performance will follow. I game at 4K with my 1080, so current gen should be no sweat.
@@paradoxicalcat7173Compared to the outgoing 4070Ti - only 4% faster at best. 4070 SUPER is far better bang-for-buck and sounds like it would be more than enough for your needs.
I was surprised how far your numbers differed from GN and Jay but didn't mind because different models jada jada. Seeing an unrelated video about the MSI Ventus lacking in power and having multiple updates made me think 'hu, maybe HU had one of those'
Still doesn't change that fact that European prices and supply are meh and don't encourage me buying one...shame really as I need to upgrade and wanted a 16GB version 4070Ti because of power use. But 900 to >1000€ just isn't sensible...
The numbers really shouldn't have differed by that much given we were around 3% off the mark. 10% you'd notice, but 3%?
Totally correct, but the few % points more closes the gap to other reviews a little, testing methodologies etc.
Just wanted to reiterate that I agree with your conclusion that even the 'mistake' doesn't change the (un)appeal of the card. :)
Thanks for the update and your alltime effort my friend👍
The pinned comment i saw from what i remember only pointed out the shader count error, not the cache error because i was like why is this GPU not perform better than this with these specs, it made no sense at all, but now that i see the cache difference yeah, now that explains the difference.
Thank you for the corrections. Everyone makes mistakes, you take the step to reveal them amd fix them.

Firm handshakes.
Can we get a meme of GN Steve rubbing his hands together behind a tree please?
I'm not sure I understand the circumstances fully but if you had the TUF card at the same time the decision to make data based on the VENTUS model to begin with was a mistake - of course they're not outright awful but they're sub-par-ish more often than not. Now you'll have to make a video about how the cheap models compare with the most expensive ones 😀
