I don't know why, but the lead singer looks and sounds a lot like Tarja. I know that's a weird thing to point out on an Evanescence cover, but does anyone else see/hear the similarities?
it's because she has a "dark color" voice like Tarja. She is a lyric mezzo-soprano and tarja is soprano spinto so the color of the voice is very similar of a lyric mezzo-soprano
also a factor of what sounds like classical training. Being able to use a combination of head and chest voice throughout a large portion of their range (I believe?) but also the vibrato she is using is very classical-trained-singer style :) I do find myself wishing she would let go of some of the classical training and sound and sing a little more plainly, to add a little more variation and change of the colour of her voice - but it is still a gorgeous voice nonetheless :D :D :D
