It’s a personal choice but for me I want to use more lat pull rather than using too much grip. You want to use your hands as hooks instead of Incorporating too much grip. Too much grip force and forearm strength will cause you to use other muscles to move the weight instead of the targeted muscle, which in this case is the lats. Let the lats do the pulling instead of your forearms etc. just use your hands as hooks. Wrist straps also helps with this.
