  • This video really demonstrates the differences in the Ryobi 18v Impact Driver and the Ryobi 18v Drill/Driver. While they look similar, they are for 2 different sets of jobs. Below is a great deal for the Ryobi 18v Impact Driver and Drill Driver Combo Kit:

Ryobi 18v Impact Driver vs. Ryobi 18v Drill/Driver
As shown in the video, these two tools do have overlapping functions. The impact driver can be used to screw in fasteners like a 3” screw, but because the impact driver has so much torque, those that aren’t used to handling the impact driver, can typically drive the screws too deep possibly messing up the job at hand, or at minimum, adding more time to the job, trying to undo the mistake.
Likewise, the drill/driver can be used to screw in smaller bolts, ¼” or smaller, but when it comes to larger bolts, like the ½” shown in the video above, the drill/driver was only able to drive the bolt about 20% of the way.

Replaces Ryobi tool models P236 and P231 (sold separately)
NOTE: The above model is an older model and usually can’t be found being sold “new” by retailers, like Walmart, Home Depot, or Amazon. The newer model, which can be easily found, is the Ryobi 18v P237 Impact Driver and comes with more torque, speed, and upgraded features. Usually, a newer model makes it to the stores with various upgrades and enhancements, every year or two, so we are sure there will most likely be another “upgraded” version in the future.
Regardless of what “version” you may buy, one of the great features of the Ryobi ONE+ System, is that all batteries and tools fit any model and can be interchangeable.
This is a big reason why we here at Tools 4 Guys are big fans of Ryobi for many of your DIY needs.
We hope this video has been helpful. Until next time, let’s go out there and get the job done.

You need to switch to lower speed on the drill to drive that bolt my friend ;)

We tried it with both high and low speeds before shooting the actual video, and neither worked. Thanks for the feedback and watching and commenting, we appreciate it!😎👍

@@Tools4Guys but as you see, in your video, on a lower speed, it worked . All good, keep up the good work.

Drill / driver means it's equipped with a 2 speed gearbox. Low speed for driving , high speed for drilling.

I have been using the drill for awhile and the chuck is hard to get tight enough. I have resorted to using channel locks instead of hand tightening. The rubber grip on the chuck is just too slick. I used gloves for awhile but that was too much. I have 19 different 18v Ryobi tools and I have gotten to hate this one.

George, thanks for commenting and sharing your experience. Our Pops just got that drill only about a month ago so he hasn’t experienced that yet. We will keep you posted as he continues to use it. Glad to know you seem to like the other Ryobi Tools.

@tools4guys will you be doing a fan video in the future? Ryobi has 2 fans and would like to see how they stack up against each other and even against a dewalt or milwaukee. Keep up the great work and content. Your helper seems like a good son.
