North Carolina will join six other states in voting on a constitutional amendment in November 2024 to explicitly require U.S. citizenship for voting. The amendment, which passed the state legislature with bipartisan support, would change the state constitution's language from "Every person" to "Only a citizen" when describing who is entitled to vote.
In addition to North Carolina, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Wisconsin will decide on prohibiting non-citizen voting this November.
Taking a look at Tennessee state legislative primaries, school vouchers are emerging as a key issue in Republican races. Governor Bill Lee's (R) proposal for a statewide school voucher program, which failed to pass in the previous legislative session, has become a focal point of debate.
