Very petty, and an insult to the British soldiers who fought and died with their French comrades.
First find out why the flag wasn't there... Most probably it was an oversight... When King Charles came to Paris and Versailles there were British flags everywhere 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Why worry about a Woke French Council....When the disrespect for our war dead is rife in our own country!!
@@garyfryer5334 You're completely wrong... The war dead in France are highly revered 🇫🇷 and the war cemetries, both Allied and German are kept in immaculate condition... If anyone is found vandalising the graves, they risk a prison sentence...
Not as petty and weak as getting your knickers in a twist over what was likely a simple oversight. Thought my countrymen had thicker skin than this pshhh.

A few French died while conquering England in 1066
@@Evemeister12 To be fair they were Normans and not Frankish even though they spoke French.
398,000 French troops died at Verdun arguably saving the allied armies from defeat. More than 20,000 French soldiers died in Dunkirk, why do the British omit their sacrifice when they talk about Dunkirk? During the Battle of the Somme 50% of the soldiers were French. Why do they always forget to mention them?
Seriously? Why should France be grateful ? The only reason Britain invaded and in the process liberating France was to get to Germany ,if the allies could have gone any other route they would have done so .
@@Denis.Collins Those of us who study these things remember that a million Frenchmen were killed by Germans but the French largely ignore that 700,000 British and Irish and men from India and the West Indies were killed fighting for THEM 1914-1918. They have forgotten that but 1940-44 is still a little raw. 80 years on, they still haven't forgiven us for rescuing them from the Nazis, The shame must be unbearable.
Two generations of British soldiers died fighting for French freedom.
Don't take the bait. They are feeding you lies 🙄
Yes thats right our working class soldiers and their working class soldiers were all dying for French freedom. Not at all for upper class imperial interests or middle class comfort.
I should remind you that French pilots fought in the Battle of Britain... Later French bomber crews flew missions over France in preparation for D-day... Churchill recruited French speaking special agents for his Special Operations Executive... These extremly brave men and often women (as they were less likely to raise suspicion) were flown into occupied France on what were effectively suicide missions to gather intelligence and disrupt the enemy in preparation for D-day... If these secret agents were captured, they were either tortured to death or sent to a concentration camp never to return...
Also, in North Africa, the Free French Forces fought alongside the British SAS on daring desert raids behind enemy lines... On D-day the Free French Forces were some of the first to hit the Normandy beachheads and fight their way to Paris... It is therefore a myth that the French did nothing to liberate themselves from Nazism... Some of the most daring, courageous and cunning actions of WWII were carried out by the Résistance and the Forces Francais Libre 🇫🇷

Correct!
And the English flag!
Anyone surprised that Buttercup defended france and denigrated us ?
They keep passing the blame on to other offices
I’m totally ashamed of my 25% French lineage, right now.
shud be ashame of the other 75
Also, as far as defence and our militaries are concerned, France 🇫🇷 and Britain 🇬🇧 are the only two nuclear armed powers in Europe... Both full members of NATO, there is close cooperation at all levels in terms of training but also policing operations in the Black and Red seas... For example, when the sea lanes in the Red sea were under threat, the Royal Navy was operating alongside the US but also our only European partner in the vicinity... The French 🇫🇷
There’s a lot of uninformed twaddle spoken here. Hearsay rather than fact. GB news is so rabidly jingoistic
I've added a comment a number of times on how to stop the boats, and it keeps being removed?????
They are supplying the boats and engines 😊
Typical, now start taking away the fishing licences and turn the boats around.
You should feel ashamed if people hate you not get even more arrogant
Is this really the biggest issue to discuss right now and spend time on?
Essential allies what bs. During the fakjkands conflict they refused to give us the codes to negate expect missiles. The French are our oldest enemies.
Thats total bs, they worked with MI5 and CIA to stop more Exocets being procured. You read / watch too much Murdoch - like most on here.
This boils down to the french having selective memories it always happens around this time of the year they forget about the amount of graveyards with British soldiers buried in them from both wars so that they can insult their memory but the price paid in blood cannot be erased or forgotten and as for their celebrations fly the American and the Canadian flags but remember when France went on its knees the British stood their ground and it was only because of that french people gained their freedom
As an Australian 🇦🇺 citizen I am disgusted where is the Australian flag 🇦🇺 and UK flag 🇬🇧. They are so ungrateful for us giving our young people to give them freedom.
you are just our colony
I still can't work out if Butterworth is just playing a part or believes his own nonsence. 😂
Go to the cemeteries 11000 in France to see the dead 54,000 were wounded British , the French people have had enough of the governments
Why were wounded British buried?
How can I block this news channel? It's full of lies 😤
You can report it by clicking on the three dots just under the video, on the right.
The inanity of this panel reaches new lows. None of these have the slightest inkling of what the French think. The occupation during the war still cuts deeply and reverberations are still felt. The UK, who promised to stand and fall with them decided, correctly, to let them fall alone. The UK didnt have to suffer occupation - the French were never bitter about that but would be about pathetic infantile attitudes like these.
What a load of rubbish. Still cuts deep? Why then are thr French fine with all the other parties to the war, even the Germans who were the aggressor, but just not us? Doesn't hold up. The Vichy regime was a disgrace, and finally its a bit peverse to hate a country because they managed to not be occupied.
The French collapsed in 1940. Britain, with its Commonwealth allies, fought on.... from the shores of England to all over the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and North Africa. Britain could have easily called it off and made peace with Hitler. Britain didnt, much to Hitler's chagrin.
Britain fighting on elsewhere after June 1940 is the reason France was liberated in 1944. If Britain didn't fight on, France would not have been liberated in 1944.
Can you grasp this fact?
@@lyndoncmp5751 Well, thanks, but back in reality - other than Battle of Britain, Britain didnt really do anything for 2 years, apart from capitulate in Singapore and be embarrassed in Norway and N. Africa. Then luckily the US joined in again and we were all saved. Can you grasp that?
@@lyndoncmp5751 In respect to the French they repeatedly warned and begged us not to appease Hitler but we ignored them and tried to be his buddy, even after they marched into Czechoslovakia. People seem to forget that small fact.

Hmmmm stopping the Axis from controlling the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Egypt/Suez Canal and Middle East is "nothing" is it?
If not for Britain, the European Axis would have grown larger (Turkey definitely and Spain de facto) and would have controlled everywhere from the Azores to Iran.
THAT is the real world.
