I had to do this yesterday. I had very low motivation, but I had to have a little talk with myself telling myself you need to do this because all the things will start to build up and it makes for more to do tomorrow. I love all of your videos. So happy I found you. Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers!! 👏👏👏

Also, cleaned out 2 more kitchen drawers today! My second eldest was interested in what I was up to and I got to give a little lesson. Having a "wait and see" box tucked into the pantry (which is now overflowing) has been the step I needed to declutter my drawers because I have some kind of fear of letting tools and objects go that are intrinsically useful, just not useful to me in my season of life.

Thank you so much for this--I think it's working, as I'm now about to START a project I've been procrastinating on!! Counting on ambition kicking in, like you said, because it's cold and gloomy and all we want to do is snuggle up with a warm cup and a book📖☕

Have you thought of tackling them just a little at a time? Declutter and clean one and as part of the process paint it white? Maybe that process would take too long…I don’t know. Just sound like a fun idea! ❤️

I knew I never should’ve read that funny meme…”Namastay in bed all day.” Lol. 😂😂
Sometimes it’s ok tho to do a B or C job on tough or busy days. For perfectionists anyways, every single time doesn’t have to be an A plus. Also just committing to 5 minutes only. Like just start and see how far you can go. That helps me get so much more done than I thought I ever would. And then also just do the “have tos” first. That way if I don’t perk back up, the have to stuff still gets done. Rarely tho do I ever lose momentum once I start. About the only rare times I had to skip things were when I was really sick like feverish and having all that flu like stuff going on. Yaaas. Breaks. Many when you have to. Lol. Great tips.
There were a few times when I just left the house first for awhile. Got myself a frappe and looked at nature. Jammed out in my car or whatever. Lol. Just pushed it all aside for a little while. Carefree. The idea of “no duties” just for a little while. Just let myself be more like an irresponsible teenager for awhile. It just got me out of that never ending, overwhelmed, black hole hamster wheel perspective. Some days it was like I had to just exit the premises in order to not be so heavily preoccupied with what all “needed doing.” Some days it just had to be out of sight, out of mind for awhile. Some days I felt like the whole house was gonna just eat me alive. Trapped. Lol. Like run Forrest run. (But I didn’t want to take a shower and all that either, which is a thing that would prevent me from leaving so I found a way to leave without having to and without actually being in public). Lol. Not sure a lot of folks talk about that aspect tho. It can be like a catch 22. Bcuz your mind and body just isn’t in a place to want to do either. I used to struggle also with needing a good “reason” to leave the house. And I would also just be like well what good would that do anyways? I reckon tho may as well go find out Bcuz if I stayed home I’d be getting nothing done anyways. And I’d just be sitting there feeling more and more guilt and stress about it as well. Getting more and more down on myself. Oh the mental gymnastics I had about something as simple as giving myself a real break. 🤯🤯 But once I did that, then I could go back and tackle things far better afterwards…once I took care of my mind. But since hopping on the minimalist train, rarely do I ever have to leave home to just catch a break or stay sane. And whipping the house back into shape isn’t nearly as hard anymore.

You’re totally right…getting started is usually the hardest step! ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage Lol. For sure. Esp if you are half in some mental sink hole already. Or just physically down or maybe have procrastinated one too many times lol. (I did a lot of that). Once I started making a habit of just starting (and decluttered and just had less junk to keep up with or move out of the way for cleaning, etc), things just never got very far out of whack anymore. So the whole thing just helped me feel better and better about myself to where I didn’t have so many mega bootstrap days like I used to. Of course there are still some tough days at times, but they aren’t near as often anymore. Def it all seems to be like whatever “flow” anyone gets in. Seems like a bad flow can get worse and a good flow can build momentum and get better. But it’s hard to persuade the brain sometimes to just start and that it will get easier, better, shorter. Something like once we just start, we get a little more wind in our sails or something. I guess for me anyways. The first step was like climbing Mt Everest and then my head would be like ugh. It’s gonna stay this hard the whole time and take forever and really suck. So just forget it. It was good to be able to find a way to stop listening to that and believing that. Vicious cycle tho as you start to feel worse and worse for procrastinating more and more. And then you’re even less motivated. I guess I’m just so impressed with all of this tho Bcuz before and after for me was like night and day. And boy was I an expert at constantly getting stuck and backlogged and spiraling down. A tough day here and there prob won’t totally wreck anyone but it’s a major problem when it’s like that most of the time. And yah. I mean for me it was more or less battling chronic depression and overwhelm, dread and this whole thing with catastrophic, negative thinking. I really had no idea my life could ever change this much and how all the physical aspects could pretty much eliminate most of the depression. Like I couldn’t have even conceived of it in the first place-me…ever being so on top of things like that.

You’re right - the procrastination ends up making just a bigger mountain to climb later on! ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage For sure. Both in our heads and literally in our space. Like one feeding off the other.
Feeling like a boss today as I don’t have to go take my closet sized room of donations anywhere or load them up, as they are coming to pick them up for me. Yay! 😂😂 Time to start all over for next month. Lol.
