Fr, they had 19 years to come up with something good & we got Spirit: Riding Free. This movie was all about how Spirit was wild & couldn't be tamed & he was tamed in the 1st episode🥴🥴
+HatredPizza Doesn't Change the fact that this scene is WAY mir heartbreaking than Mufasa's or any other movie character's death (at least in my opinion).
+Madelyn Moye This scene left me with tears rolling down my cheeks. The music, the horses' facial expressions and the whole situation itself.... It is heartbreaking. I always suffer with Spirit. Each and every time I watch this movie. Mufasa's death had no impact on me as I watched the movie, nor has it been a memorable scene (at least for me). Possibly because we didn't really get attached to Mufasa or Simba yet. Rain's "death" on the other hand happened when we as the audience already built a connection with her and Spirit's character, which is why it is so much more emotional and impactful (additionally the whole scene is beautifully crafted, more so than the Lion King's Death scene).
This movie and it's score literally had me on an emotional roller coaster. Spirit is such an underrated film, it hurts me that it doesn't get the recognition that it absolutely deserves. Such a compelling story, with many life lessons intertwined, and excellently fleshed out characters. It's a damn shame that Spirit: Riding Free, and Spirit: Untamed threw all the principles that made this movie great out the window. This franchise went from the absolute masterpiece that was this movie, to a downgraded show catered to little girls. I still tear up at this particular scene with Rain injured, and Spirit trying his best to comfort her. Also when Spirit essentially gives up and loses his fighting spirit is very disheartening.
When I also saw the other horses from the village in the train, my heart was even more broken. It horrifies me, how humans can be so cruel to their surroundings and even one another
This through the eyes of a human yourself, there can be bad people, it’s seen pretty often, but sparks of light are visible in those of good intentions
It’s sad but this is American history. We raided Native American villages and did horrible things to them. When you look up Native American schools, it gets even more disgusting. We kidnapped their children, fed them disgusting things, and beat them for speaking their language. And that’s just the BEGINNING of what we did there. Most of those children died and there are massive burials that have only RECENTLY been found. As a result of how we treated the Native Americans then, today’s Native Americans don’t even know their own language and have to live on land that’s horrible.
It kills me seeing the absolute frustration and pain in Spirit at 1:00 cause he knows how bad it is and that he literally can't do a damn thing about it but be with her..
NinjaGo220 MasterofEnergy she could walk, but in the scene before that, when she'd gotten shot, she fell into the river with a very strong current and was struggling to keep her head above the water and then fell down a waterfall. So she was probably exhausted and did eventually stand up.
I wish more animated movies about animals would do this- rely on the facial expressions and the body language of the animals to communicate, rather than just having the animals speak. It would have made the "live action" Lion King far more interesting. Rather than just remaking the original animated (wonderful) movie, why not embrace the realism of the lion's designs, and let the story tell itself without any dialogue? I mean yes it would be taking a risk but movies like this show that it's possible (I know Spirit has an inner narration in English but Rain doesn't and we still get to know her and how she feels).
1:27 The change of music from tragic to dramatic is so perfect... So beautiful! 3:13 And the change from dramatic to simple desolation is heartbreaking.
I don’t think people realize that horses feel too. Even if the movie is animated, it truly represents a depressed, happy, homesick, horse. When my horse was in his last home (he wasn’t mine then) he was severely depressed because he has no one, no horse. It killed me to see him that way, killed me. I was able to buy him and move him to a nice barn where he is so happy. He honestly reminds me so much of spirit. I always say “Never lose your spirit my boy, I love you” whenever I leave. I love my boy so much to the point of me dying for him in a heart beat.
@Alysia Williams ppl don’t even think of this movie when talking about the greatest animated movies of all time, and for me it is every bit as good as lion king or better which most ppl always consider the best.

I was perhaps 10 when I watched this at first... i am 16 now... the difference is so strong. Each word is relatable...each and every word.
In my opinion this is the most hurtful scene in all of the movies I’ve watched. They gave it too much screen time and feelings into it. You could actually hear the pain in the sounds they made. And the fact they narrated it made it even more sad. I felt so bad for rain when I first watched the movie
I absolutely love how this movie was able to create such good and compelling characters with little dialogue. The animation in the expressions is amazing

After such years still the most beautiful and heartbreaking movie ever, my mind always goes into Spirit's world , as like the real damned human world has never existed ~
Spirit: oh I can't go on I can't even start I've got nothing left just an empty heart. My boyfriend died from a gunshot wound a year ago today. Losing someone you love..the feeling is just like Spirit's line here.
She didn’t die. She was just badly injured. But still this is so crushing. Spirit loves her more than anything. And seeing the Indian finding her hurts just as much.
Showing instead of telling 😔 This scene like many others is what makes this movie superior to other animated moves, and it holds up to this day and I will always love it 😁
