      Agreed I'm a long time oilers fan and seeing how things are it sucks, 2 good teams having to eliminate one another, round 2. All I want is a Canadian Cup win but don't think I can go and cheer the Canucks if they beat us out.
      What has me concerned is The Rangers

    I was at game 5. I wondered if Pick sprained his knee in the second period. He fell back while sliding across for a shot and just took a while to get up. Looked like one of those strains that you can play through fine because you’re warm but sometimes you wake up the next day and can’t straighten your knee.
    Either way, as an Oiler fan, I’m comfortable with both guys in net. It’s the boys in front who gotta play with pride and not get lulled into defeat. Vancouver loves to hang around and just win. I was at game 1 and 5. I’ll be there game 7.

    • @BrodyCanuck
      @BrodyCanuck 14 днів тому

      This is how the canucks normally play when they have Demko and hes good enough to make up for it. The canucks lack offense when they have Silovs in net since they have to play a lot more safe and defensively, hence the lack of shots theyve been getting all playoffs long. If Demko was in net for this series they would've won 4 games to 1. Game 2 Silovs let in about 3 really weak goals and then they lost in OT to a weak goal. This game 6 wouldnt have even happened if Demko wasn't injured.

    • @pyRoy6
      @pyRoy6 14 днів тому

      @@BrodyCanuck I'm not sure the data really back this up. Looking at Natural Stat Trick (regular season, 5v5 adjusted, for a larger sample size), the Canucks are 12th in scoring chances for, but 3rd in scoring chances against; 7th in high danger chances for vs. 6th in high danger chances against; 13th in expected goals for vs. 6th in expected goals against. Meanwhile, they are 1st in shooting % vs 7th in save %. In other words, they were doing quite well defensively in front of Demko.
      Their defensive numbers in the playoffs are similar to their numbers in the regular season. It doesn't seem they are making things any easier for Silovs than they did with Demko.
      Granted, you could suppose that they have had to sacrifice more offense in order to get the same level of defense due to quality of competition, but in order to predict a series win by "cheating" for more offense knowing Demko is in net, you would have to suppose that Demko is going to play even better than he was. This is definitely possible for a Vezina-calibre goalie...but far from any kind of guarantee against a team whose underlying numbers were even better than Vancouver's. The equalizer was goaltending, due to the stints of extremely bad goaltending the Oilers had early on, but which seemed to have settled into an average range.
      The other factor was Vancouver's unusually high shooting %, which seems to be settling into a more average range as well.

    • @BrodyCanuck
      @BrodyCanuck 14 днів тому

      @@pyRoy6 you’re ignoring the part where Demko was out with injury for part of the year, before that their numbers were better. They started losing when he got injured. They’re a way better team all around when he’s playing and the stats back that up. They’re an under .500 team when DeSmith was in net

    At their best the Canucks show the influence of the Sedin twins. When you have flow, you can cycle the puck. But to have flow, you have to move your feet and be in constant motion. In game 6, the Canucks stopped skating once they got to their spots. Petey's static play is a good example. And when you stop skating against the Oilers. You are done.

    They recognize that it’s make it or break it. The one thing Canucks have going for them is that Edmonton feels good with what they are doing so no more surprises. Vancouver knows what they are gonna get and now is the time to adjust or get dusted. I picked Vancouver for 7 bc I felt they were the better team depth wise, tending wise, and more of a chip on their shoulder. They can still do it but coach has got to make some shakeups and get it through these dudes heads that this right here is why we suit up to play. Time to do make something out of it

      Make them adjust and that'll open up that cross ice pass again. It's all a chess match.

    I really doubted the goalie change but he did what he needed to do. Canucks were sluggish however so don't take this as any kind of domination. Monday will be intense but they absolutely need to come out hitting again. Every game they've done that, they've won.

      As a Oiler fan myself I always dread the overconfidence of some fans because it always seems to be the Achilles heel that does a team in. Stay humble & hope for the best. Let other teams fanbases run their mouths because in my experience that only adds extra fuel to the fire & is a great source of motivation for the team being slighted & disrespected imo. I've seen it happen too often to not believe that pride truly does go before a fall.😢
